18.01.2022 Harkaway and it’s Green Wedge are under immediate threat! A Developer has proposed a large scale urban development in King Road, namely an art gallery, function centre, restaurant and two residences. We have been given a very small window to object- All correspondence must be received by Friday 6th November.... Every voice needs to be heard and every objection counts, so please send an email to the state planning minister and say we object to this development in a fire zone and a green wedge. Let’s protect Harkaway for generations to come. [email protected] #saveharkaway #noartinabushfirezone

17.01.2022 REQUEST TO BE HEARD! If you wish to be involved in the Hearing to stop the proposed development in Harkaway, please complete the online request to be heard form available at: https://www.planning.vic.gov.au/pa/request-to-be-heard-form ... by 4.00pm on Monday 23 November 2020 This Hearing will now almost certainly be scheduled to start on Monday 15 February 2021, and will run for as long as it takes (up until 19 March). As the Panel members will have had to wade through over 500 written submissions, we encourage everyone who is comfortable to do so to apply, even if you nominate someone else to read it out for you. This applies equally to interstate or overseas submitters. (Nominating a representative can be done as late as on the day.) The more requests to be heard they receive, the stronger the community’s message to the Planning Minister. This can make the difference if the Panel’s advice is not to the community’s liking. The Minister doesn’t always follow his Panel’s advice, which can work both ways. Remember, applying to be heard is not a commitment. It simply gives you the option, which will not be available if you don’t apply. You can always change your mind - again, right up to the day of the public Hearing, if need be. If you have deleted or can’t find the email sent to you last Tuesday 10 November 2020 and are now prepared to put in a request, please ask for it be sent again by either contacting Planning Panels Victoria on (03) 8392 5115 or emailing: [email protected] Some tips for filling the ‘request to be heard’ online form. Amendment* Casey Planning Scheme Amendment C273 Submitter name- your name Time required to present: increase the time you think you need, to allow for questions and unforeseen delays. For instance, someone expecting to speak for 5 minutes or less might request 10 - 15 minutes. Someone expecting to speak for 2 hours might request 2-1/2 hours, and so on. If you struggle with the online request to be heard form, Kimberley Martin (Planning Panels Victoria) has confirmed that requests to be heard will be accepted at the 26 November Directions Hearing and the day after. Please email Julie or Rosalie (or call Rosalie on 0429 955 421) if you need any further support. Have your say and do it today!

15.01.2022 Tuesday at the IBAC ( IBAC Victoria's Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission) investigation into city of Casey (City of Casey)dodgy dealings included discussions about transparency to the Public & ‘paying for political influence by making donations’. Harkaway Residents welcome actual transparency around donations and developer influence and hope we can gain a greater understanding of the dark deals that go on behind closed doors. #shinealight #calloutcorruption... #saveharkaway. Daily transcripts can be found on the IBAC website

14.01.2022 If you are one of the 475 (glorious!) people who wrote to the planning minister Richard Wynne MP to say No to the proposed development in Harkaway, then you would have received this email last night. Just hold onto it for now, it’s good news & Exactly what we were expecting. More information will be coming out soon so don’t forget, if you are not part of the email group, send an email to [email protected] and you will receive info through email but also on this pa...ge. We will do our best to keep everyone informed.

13.01.2022 The Proposed Rosemaur Restaurant and Function Centre contradicts the very purpose of the existence of the Green wedges and makes a mockery of the Planning Ministers promise to further protect them. https://planning-schemes.delwp.vic.gov.au//21_mss14_case.p Send your objection tonight!!

11.01.2022 The independent Broad-based Anti Corruption commission ( IBAC Victoria's Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission) yesterday recommenced its investigation into the City of Casey now dismissed council. On Day 1 dodgy developments took center stage with the first case in point: a farm re zoned to become residential, with a massive windfall to the lobbyist. We think it’s relevant to our fight as the Harkaway proposed development was approved by the sacked city of Casey... just months before its dismissal. Residents have a right to have a say on developments that affect their homes. #nodevelopmentsinagreenwedge #wematter #saveharkaway https://www.watoday.com.au//lobbyists-won-huge-success-fee

10.01.2022 As you all know the deadline for objections closed at 5pm on Friday and we pushed to get every objection over the line. We are pleased to advise that at 4.30pm Friday we had 475 objections submitted Thank you Harkaway Residents!... For a hamlet of 800+ people, this is an incredible response, but we know ‘it takes a village’ so we have to say an even bigger thank you to our neighbours, friends and relatives from right around the world, who took the time to write to the planning minister and say No to developments in a green wedge. More updates on our next steps soon but for now, enjoy! Take a minute and soak up your little piece of Harkaway. The fight is far from over but we have shown we maybe small but we sure are mighty

10.01.2022 Re Rosemaur public hearing process. Despite the 510 submissions received by DELWP as of last Friday, it has become more evident than ever that we need as many of you as possible to submit a Request to be heard before 4:00 pm next Monday 23 November. https://www.planning.vic.gov.au/pa/request-to-be-heard-form

08.01.2022 Hot off the presses! Thanks to the Berwick Star for telling our side of the story.

06.01.2022 A small snapshot of the Minutes from the City Of Casey closed council meeting where it was agreed the development in a Harkaway should be approved with out any community consultation. These documents were obtained under the Freedom of Information act. We think the community has a right to be involved in decisions that affect our future. ... Our case is before Richard Wynne MP and the planning department and we can still reach out and let him know how we feel about our lack of consultation. #haveyoursay #doittoday #saveharkaway

06.01.2022 There are around 100 residential properties in the Harkaway village. If the average value of these residences is, say, $750,000, then the value of the entire village would be about 75 million dollars. That might be somewhere near the value of Mr. Hoggs most prized art work, Horace Vernet’s Battle of the Pont d’Arcole. ... I am wondering what Mr Hoggs reaction would be if some person were to get hold of that painting and ‘improve’ it by painting in just one extra dying soldier? (There’s ample room on the bridge to accommodate this extra soldier) Not advocating such an atrocity - just wondering. The art work of course, would not be improved, it would be completely ruined, both in regard to its monetary value and also as an historic and irreplaceable work of art. That is precisely what will happen to our little village and the beautiful countryside around us if the development goes ahead on the site at King Road. Just one extra dying soldier Mr Hogg, are you OK with that? Phil Wild *published this week in the Pakenham Gazette, letter to the editor.

01.01.2022 Harkaway peeps! Don’t forget our zoom meeting starts shortly at 3pm today, details can be found in our Harkaway Residents email. We have confirmed the dates of our hearings, so now the fight truly commences ... Let’s show Mr Hogg he’s not the only one who have their hearts set on Harkaway. We may be small but together we are mighty #noartinabushfirezone #saveharkaway #wewantyourart #notinourgreenwedge
