08.05.2022 **Urgent** Please support our campaign for No Council Depot on Save Hudson Park This Tuesday night (2 Feb) Strathfield Councillors will be voting whether to reverse the decision to move the Council depot to community owned parkland at Hudson Park West. ... Refer to Page 54 of the Council's Business Paper: https://www.strathfield.nsw.gov.au/download/22853/ Why is council moving the depot to the worst traffic intersection in the Strathfield Area? Why is the council moving the depot 500m to the north when there is NOTHING wrong with the current site? Why is the Council moving the depot at a cost of approx $10m? Where is the public good or public interest in this project? What's special about Hudson Park West? ** Wonderful biodiverstiy ** Healthier soils with more bioligical activity ** 7 acres or open green space which absorbs stormwater... ** Mature trees which are habitat for birds & bats ** Leaf litter and log hollows which form habitat for bees, insects, lizards and small mammals ** Rare open space for locals to enjoy outdoor activites It is rare to get this much open space in the middle of an area targetted for significant high rise development. We need to save this for future generations. 30.03.2022 We now have legal advice that this 90 year old park cannot be taken from the community without public consultation. And this is not just we are going to build a car park and depot on this site. Strathfield Council is required to consult with the community on what you would like to do with this park.
