24.01.2022 We have received a letter from the Grandson of Alexander McCracken who originally had this beautiful building designed and built. Collier McCracken who is in his 90’s, has kindly allowed us to share his sentiment with you all.

18.01.2022 A big clap is deserved... On the 16th September, Heritage Victoria refused the application based on the following grounds: If the application were approved it would result in an unacceptable and irreversible detrimental impact on the cultural significance of the registered place the subdivision and development would adversely affect the cultural heritage significance and setting of the registered place by:... ...Physical and legally dividing the site, leaving the mansion seperate and isolated from its wider landscape setting ...Erasing the legibility of the place through intensive townhouse development, with associated fencing on seperate lots ...Adopting an architectural design that is at odds with the setting and architecture of the mansion, and is visually dominant in relation to the existing buildings sand site, due to its scale and bulk ...Erasing the appreciation today the Gardenesque style of the garden and jeopardising the remaining trees and vegetation. This was NOT the current submission to Moonee Valley Council that we had 300 Objections on. It was the application in January to Heritage Victoria. This is a great first step outcome for our campaign and further highlights the importance of this Heritage area. There is still more work to be done and we hope to work with the Columbans to find a suitable outcome, especially one where the beautiful North Park Mansion and Gardens can be enjoyed by the WHOLE community. A reminder to everyone that objections to the redevelopment and subdivision of North Park can continue to be sent to Moonee Valley Council. They will accept objections up until they have made a decision, but the sooner you get it in, the better. In fact, it only takes 5minutes of your time - and we've set out all the grounds that you can use in your objection on our website, and we walk you downloading the necessary form... and how to submit online. See the link for full details, and please help by sharing this with your own networks here and elsewhere on social media if possible. We've had a HUGE community response so far, and we're so proud of everyone who has contributed to the camapign, but today we need your help in making sure that Council hears the full weight of the community's concerns for the future of this treasured community asset.
