21.01.2022 An overhaul of the State’s waste and recycling management is long overdue, to not only prevent material going to landfill unnecessarily but, where possible, to enable new products to be made and re-used again and again. Coffs Harbour City Council, like many councils throughout NSW, is investigating ways to make waste a product, not a problem. This transition is not only good for the environment, it is good for job creation and industry development in NSW, which is vitally important to this State’s economic recovery.
21.01.2022 Councils are doing a great job to #SaveOurRecycling and make waste a product, not a problem. We must find new ways to reduce the huge volume of products making their way to landfill, contaminating the waste stream. Well done Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) and Bunnings Warehouse Australia!
20.01.2022 We hope the upcoming State Budget will provide much needed funding to help local government deal with the more than 580,000 tonnes of recycling from households’ yellow bins, that will need to be processed locally - starting January 2021 when the waste export bans begin. #nswpol #localgovernment ttps://fb.watch/1GPWFT8v7l/
18.01.2022 National Recycling Week is the perfect time to ensure the beloved Aussie institution of kerbside waste collection and recycling creates a product not a problem. #saveourrecycling #nswpol #localgovernment https://www.lgnsw.org.au//1110_National_Recycling_Week.aspx
17.01.2022 It’s time to do more to help the 81 per cent of Australians who aren’t confident they recycle everything effectively. We need an extensive and coordinated education plan to ensure people know how to sort out what is recyclable and what is not so we can #SaveOurRecycling. But councils can’t do it alone.
13.01.2022 The NSW Government must invest the Waste Levy ($800 million collected annually) in council-led solutions like these Bega Valley Shire Council and AlburyCity. Building essential infrastructure, creating local jobs, and improving education is key to finally addressing the burden posed by waste and recycling on local government in NSW. With the State budget just around the corner, the time to #SaveOurRecycling is now. #nswpol #localgovernment
06.01.2022 Councils are doing a great job to #SaveOurRecycling but they are battling to reduce the huge volume of products making their way to landfill including soft plastics, nappies and food leftovers contaminating the waste stream. National Recycling Week is the perfect time to think about what more can be done to make sure rubbish placed in kerbside recycling becomes a product not a problem.
