25.01.2022 For every time you felt a part of something special. #SaveOurScene The Teskey Brothers X Black Rock Band. @_llyds

25.01.2022 Throughout our career we have played at venues of all shapes and sizes. Now more than ever these venues need support so when this pandemic is over performers from all backgrounds and genres have a place to perform. Its not just the artists and venue owners who would be affected by venues shutting down - its the behind the scene crews, its the bar staff, the security staff, its the punters who travel from far and wide to experience the culture our live venues have to offer - Peking Duk

25.01.2022 "Melbournes live music scene has played a big part in enabling us to have a career for over 35 years, we need to look after each other so that we can all continue to do what we love." - Vika & Linda

25.01.2022 A MASSIVE thanks to everyone who has signed, shared and spread the word to Save Our Scene in the last few weeks. The petition is temporarily offline whilst signatories are being validated but it will be back up again this Thursday. We have to keep the ball rolling and need even more signatures so be sure to call your dad, text your mate and email the office as soon as its back up! Daydreams

24.01.2022 On the streets! Huge thanks to Plakkit for getting these up and around town for us. Keep signing, keep sharing saveourscene.com.au.

22.01.2022 "Melbourne is one of the music capitals of the world, with what once was around 4000 gigs in a week. There is an arts, music, and busking culture like nowhere else on the earth. I spent the beginning crucial stages of my music career being able to play all over Melbourne any night/ day of the week and almost at any time as we are a 24 hour city but it would not have been possible without the many venues that exist within our city. We need to make sure that the next generation of not only musicians and artists but also sound/ light techs, venue managers, local crews and beyond have the same opportunities that we had, if not more." - Tash Sultana Lucinda Goodwin for theMusic.com.au

22.01.2022 SOS UPDATE Wow, what a ride the last few weeks have been! Venues are now working hard on putting together their applications for the Victorian Live Music Venues grants that were announced earlier this month. Whilst the $15million funding is a huge help for the industry, weve still got a while to go until were in the all clear and the longer that restrictions remain in place, the longer well need your help. A huge thanks to all who supported us throughout the campaign. To everyone who signed, shared and spread the word about our petition and cause, thank you. A special mention to Miranda Brown Publicity, Plakkit, Sharlene Harris and ALH Group, Lion Co., Young Henrys and Mountain Goat Beer for their contributions to the campaign.

21.01.2022 You want the reality? This is it. According to a survey that was sent out last week, 42% of Victorian live music venues said that without government assistance, theyre facing closure before the end of the year. Thats half our scene, gone. We need you, we need your friends, we need your families. Sign the petition, share it around, scream it from the roof, and help #SaveOurScene https://bit.ly/SaveOurSceneVic... Aidan McDonald

21.01.2022 For every late night that turns into an early morning. #saveourscene @lauraortizlopezz

20.01.2022 Huge thank you to Fiona Patten MP who will be taking our petiton to parliament this week. "this week I tabled the largest e-petition in Victorias history"

19.01.2022 SOS representatives from venues including The Croxton Bandroom, 170 Russell, The Old Bar, Revolver Upstairs and The Tote meeting with Fiona Patten MP this morning before she tabled our petition! It is now officially the largest e-petition in Parliament history AND signatures have just reopened so, if you havent signed already, get going https://bit.ly/SaveOurSceneVic

19.01.2022 "In terms of nightclubs.. I wouldnt anticipate those venues opening any time soon or as I said those larger mass gathering festivals and events take place." - PM Scott Morrison. One of the things we desperately need from VicGov is a clear roadmap to reopening to full capacity. We want to do it safely, we want to do the right things, but we also want to be here after all of this is over. Theres still time to help saveourscene.com.au.

18.01.2022 Huge news today for the Victorian live music industry! The first batch of successful applicants for the Victorian Live Music Venues Program has just been announced, with $9mil of the $15mil grant funding now allocated to those listed in the article below. For venues that have applied and not been named today please note that the second round of successful grant recipients is still to be announced.... Further information regarding planning controls giving councils strengthened powers to protect live music venues has also been revealed today and is another great step towards keeping our venues alive.

16.01.2022 When we say that Melbourne is the music capital of the world, we really mean it. Thats because Melbourne has more live music venues per capita than any other city on the planet. Lets keep it that way. @michelleghunder

16.01.2022 The music venues in Victoria are the incubators for musicians that end up representing us worldwide - definitely worth the fight! More people than I could mention rely on these independently run venues, not only for work (from the cleaners to the security to the musicians), but also for socialisation and culture. These venues give punters a one-of-a-kind opportunity to enjoy life on this scam of a rock. Theyre a home, a church and source of inspiration, and were very lucky they exist. Things will look heaps different if they dont. Weve got to look after them the same way they look after anyone who walks in their doors. - Amy Taylor, Amyl and The Sniffers. @oldkingjardine

15.01.2022 What have the last six months REALLY been like for venues, artists and industry workers? The faces behind venues such as The Curtin, The Old Bar, New Guernica, Max Watts House of Music, Bar Oussou and The Tote know better than many. Hear their thoughts on the current situation, alongside some familiar onstage faces right now in this great clip by Arlo Dean Cook Video. Were still not out of this yet.

14.01.2022 Huge news! A massive thank you to everyone who signed the petition, to the SOS team, to our industry supporters and allies, including Fiona Patten MP who sponsored our petition. Thank you to the Victorian Government for caring about our community, and investing the future of our music scene. Looking forward to seeing the details of the package in the coming days.

10.01.2022 For all the weird and wonderful stories. #saveourscene

10.01.2022 The state governments Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley, said the live music sector was "the heart and soul of so much of Victorias cultural activities" and the government would have more to say following "conversations with a number of live music and entertainment organisations". "The Victorian government has been a strong supporter of live music for many years, to the point where pre-COVID Victoria had the largest number of live music venues per head of popul...ation anywhere in the world. Thats a significant achievement and grew on the back of this governments strong support for the live music sector," Mr Foley said. "COVID hit hard and it hit quick in the live music sector, venues closed instantly. We know that not only did the COVID emergency hit live music hard, its also going to hit it the longest. We know there is more to be done, we are talking to the representative organisations and that will continue." - The Age Weve been heard, but we need more sign, share, saveourcene.com.au. @juancastrophotography

09.01.2022 HUMANS OF THE MELBOURNE LIVE MUSIC INDUSTRY Because its not just venues that need help. Its the people that make our industry what it is. The artists, sound engineers, lighting technicians, bar staff, security guards and many more who are out of work and need a lifeline. Ever left Revs after the suns come up? You have this lot to thank for keeping that 24 hour party machine going.

09.01.2022 ICYMI we made history last week when we tabled the largest Parliamentary e-petition.. ever! Huge thanks to all who have signed, shared and spread the word so far but the fight is not over. Were still in dire need of help and with restrictions not looking to be going anywhere anytime soon, this is now more important than ever. Sign, share, Save Our Scene saveourscene.com.au.

09.01.2022 Thank you Moshtix!

08.01.2022 The inimitable (see: legendary) Tim Rogers of You Am I spoke with ABC Melbournes Virginia Trioli on Monday morning about the much needed roadmap to recovery for the live music sector. Listen below and make sure to sign and share the petition now https://bit.ly/SaveOurSceneVic

05.01.2022 Huge news from Germany where the government has just committed 150m towards supporting its live music industry! If they can do it, surely we can too. Sign the petition, spread the word, help Save Our Scene today #SOS https://bit.ly/SaveOurSceneVic

03.01.2022 "Our live scene which survived on the smell of an oily rag beforehand is now just non existent. If all the venues have to sell up and the musos have to get other jobs, then when this is all over the incredible and diverse live music scene that makes Melbourne what it is will have died. We need live music as we do parks and botanical gardens and we dont stop watering those in a crisis!" - Kylie Auldist. David Harris

03.01.2022 One of the reasons why we love working in music so much is the people who make it what it is. The artists, crew and music workers are integral to the running of a gig and its all these people who have been hit hardest during the COVID-19 crisis. Luckily, legendary music industry charity Support Act are now offering Crisis Relief Grants for those experiencing financial hardship. If this might be you, head to the Get Help page at https://supportact.org.au/ to apply now.

02.01.2022 HUGE! All-time fave Illy just flipped a tune by The Weeknd into a song about our struggling industry AND mentions Save Our Scene. Legend. PLUS, the clip was filmed in the Gershwin room of the one and only The Espy. "Whats the point of a city if you rip out its soul?"

01.01.2022 HUMANS OF THE MELBOURNE LIVE MUSIC INDUSTRY Ever wondered how the hell a live show ends up sounding so great? Legends like Bonnie Knight behind the desk. "Hello!... I am the Production Manager/inhouse engineer of the Croxton Bandroom as well as as a freelance FOH, Monitors and Studio Engineer. In the space of 2-3 days in March my entire years worth of work including a European festival tour was cancelled. I am thankfully getting by on Jobkeeper for the moment but I am terribly fearful for when it stops in September as I will be unable to support myself. It will be such a long time until anything in our industry bounces back and I am so scared for other techs, music industry people and artists; as well as our venues and festivals that are currently falling into debt and have no hopeful outcomes on the horizon."
