25.01.2022 John Barilaro set to lead newly formed Stockton taskforce
24.01.2022 Ok. See if you can get your head around this one. It’s the transcript of a State Government Committee and I’ve just included the questions and answers relating... to Save Stockton Beach. It’s the committee from both parties questioning the Minister for a Local Government, Shelly Hancock, who is assisted by a knowledgeable public servant, Ms Gibbs. This will give an insite into the difficulties we have with two levels of government, two different parties and in this case just two state government departments. Feel free to comment on what you make of it all. The link should work for everyone. If you can’t access it let me know and I’ll work out another way to get it to you. 23.01.2022 Hey Stockton, what do you think???
22.01.2022 With an hour until high tide the waves are already licking at the road on the corner of Griffith and Barrie. Let’s hope the sandbags can save it.
22.01.2022 STOCKTON PLAN RELEASED The plan to fix Stockton Beach's erosion crisis could cost $40 million and involve mining millions of cubic metres of sand offshore. The full story: https://ab.co/2SUzri7

Now is the time for you to provide your feedback on the proposed Coastal Management Plan and have a say in what happens to our beach and our community. This feedback is being collected, discussed and acted upon to support local business, community groups, sporting groups and our children to develop a solid plan of action. United in our approach. 18.01.2022 I’m not sure about everyone else, but this weekend has been incredibly emotional for me. The front of the old daycare would be falling off the edge. The sandbags have done their job but everywhere around them has been devastated. We can’t take much more of this.
18.01.2022 Check out this footage that Dale took yesterday. The split screen section is a comparison from January 2018.
18.01.2022 For those who would like to sign, there is a petition being circulated regarding removal of the ammonium nitrate stockpile from Kooragang. https://www.communityrun.org//remove-dangerous-ammonium-ni #savestockton2295

14.01.2022 We really appreciate the work done over this last two weeks, but why did it take this long to happen?
13.01.2022 Save Stockton Beach thank you for this post. We mustn’t give up. This extra force in waves is also why so many of us feel the waves shaking our houses.
12.01.2022 Mayor and Deputy Mayor talking about Beach, Coastal Management Plan, Covid Swimming and Lexies On The Beach tonight on NBN. Lovely down at the beach today. David Allen was dumping just off the Pines.
11.01.2022 If every politician that has visited Stockton in the last 12 months, had arrived in a truck loaded with sand, our beach problem would be close to being sorted. Nuatali Nelmes - Lord Mayor of Newcastle Tim Crakanthorp MP Save Stockton Beach #savestocktonbeach

08.01.2022 A coalition of Newcastle community groups has formed to push calls for stockpiles of ammonium nitrate on Kooragang Island to be removed. The groups from St...ockton, the Throsby Villages, Mayfield and the Better Planning Network will meet tonight. They've started a petition which has attracted more than 2500 signatures in less than 48 hours. Organiser Keith Craig said there's renewed energy in the campaign. "Given those images coming out of Beirut I think people across Newcastle and wider understand that this is not just an issue for one suburb, it's across a wide area and could cause huge issues and devastation," he said.
08.01.2022 Please have your say on the Coastal Management Plan.
08.01.2022 Incredible footage
08.01.2022 The Draft Stockton CMP falls woefully short of a longtime solution to Stockton’s problems. It assumes that Stockton has two to five years to put meaningful sol...utions in place. Stockton may have only 12 months to provide some protection. Thirty years of neglect and lack of commitment by successive Councils and State Parliaments of all persuasions has exacerbated the problems. The NSW Government has a moral and financial responsibility to provide whatever money is necessary to solve this man-made problem. The Draft CMP does nothing to address the northerly drift of sand, nor the sand lost via the sinkhole at the tip of the northern harbour break wall. There is no talk of the need for an artificial headland and/or offshore reefs to break up the increasing wave action. These measures need to be commenced immediately. They form recommendations of previous studies. They have obviously not been included on cost grounds. The total cost of a suitable and timely solution can be amortised over thirty years of inaction. The time has come for the CofN and the NSW State Government to move away from Option 1-Do Nothing! See more
07.01.2022 Hunter Water have been in touch again to keep us informed about the dune rehabilitation work happening on Nine mile beach, near the treatment works. These dunes... are an important barrier protecting the treatment works. The project to rehabilitate the dunes and protect them from erosion involves: Construction of ‘dune forming fencing’ Construction of perimeter fencing (timber post & wire strand) Dune re-vegetation Public access to Nine-Mile beach will remain unaffected outside Hunter Water land. Hunter Water owns land down to the high-tide mark on Nine Mile beach, however the perimeter fencing will be located closer to the dunes so vehicles can continue to travel along the beach at high tide. Hunter Water’s new fencing will be similar to existing fencing along the beach front on nearby land owned by the Belmont Wetlands State Trust and Belmont Golf Club. Perimeter fencing will prevent vehicles driving over the dunes to promote dune rehabilitation, however this does not change arrangements as vehicles are already prohibited from accessing the dunes and signage has been in place for some time. #HRFWDC #Responsible4WDing
