25.01.2022 A change to Moolarben Coal approval conditions will now delay a critical independent review of impacts on the Goulburn River and The Drip until after coal extraction from 12 of 14 long-wall panels that come up to 170 metres from the bed of the Goulburn River. This is despite expert opinion stating a minimum of 1km distance, and an expert independent panel recommending each long-wall be assessed individually - the mining risk to this precious ecosystem and magnificent natur...e's cathedral is unacceptable. Mine subsidence impacts include fracturing of aquifers and rupturing of river bed, loss of river base flows and threat to cliff instability, damage to cultural heritage including rock shelters and artworkpreventing ongoing access to this popular recreational site. Help prevent these risks! Say no to yet another failure to protect our cultural and environmental heritage... such as what happened to Juuken Gorge WA See more

21.01.2022 The sacredness of The Drip is important to many.

21.01.2022 A new report says climate change, 'inappropriate' regulations and mine discharges a risk to Goulburn River

19.01.2022 Long wall coal mining close to sandstone cliffs cause them to crack and fall. This popular spot near The Drip picnic area will no longer be a safe place for our children to play. Expert advice says to stop at least a kilometre away not 170 metres as is planned.

18.01.2022 The great dripping wall near Mudgee is known for the rainwater that trickles off its sandstone cliffs But there are concerns this sacred spot is at risk from nearby coal mines.. which are slowly closing in on the gorge. #9News | Weeknights from 5:30pm

18.01.2022 The Drip is open again for walkers to enjoy its beauty. NPWS workers have been very busy repairing the damage done during the floods early this year.

17.01.2022 Hopefully a step in the right direction... Wollar Solar Farm downstream from The Drip has been approved. A move away from dependancy on coal and a small step towards a Clean Green Future.

14.01.2022 The Drip walking track is due to reopen for the July NSW school holidays. NPWS are currently repairing the flood damage from earlier this year. For the safety of the public it is closed to walkers. Helicopters will be flying in new sandstone stepping stones and drainage work is being done to improve the toilets impacted by rising ground water.

12.01.2022 We are lucky in Australia to wake to a dawn chorus; we have such an amazing thou fragile environment - so much to lose. The federal government are considering weakening environmental protection laws under the guise of economic stimulus. This threatens vital ecosystems and the essential services they provide. Please add your name to urging the Environment Minister Ley to support laws that will work for nature not against.

12.01.2022 Don't Take Our Water! Submissions are due before Monday 27th July. Bowden's Silver Project wants to take the water that should be going into the Goulburn River at The Drip for its mine at Lue. Please send your objection on line to www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects/project/9641

07.01.2022 Some more Media on The Drip & the recent declaration of 33 hectares of State Conservation Area (SCA) land http://mdeg.org.au//abc-central-west-reports-on-the-drip-/

07.01.2022 What a magical place ....... should be protected at all cost

06.01.2022 Next step to provide permanent protection of The Drip and Goulburn River from mining .... MDEG welcomes the declaration of 33 hectares lands around the Drip and along the River as protected under a State Conservation (SCA) reserve status by Minister Matt Keane. This will raise the profile of this special place However a SCA still allows mining and exploration activities that risks the groundwater system feeding The Drip and Goulburn River and the stability of sandstone cliffs along this much loved river corridor. This new SCA is covered by Exploration Licence (EL6288), with drilling proceeding to the north and a long-wall mining approved south of the river (within 200 metres of picnic-park area). If the state govt is genuine, relinquishing EL6288 over this SCA is a critical next step.
