23.01.2022 Boutique locally-run cinemas are the answer when the big fish leave town
22.01.2022 What a lovely story in today’s Newcastle Herald. A great example of what cinemas mean to community.
19.01.2022 If only we could be hanging at Tower Cinemas on Boxing Day :(
17.01.2022 You’re invited to this
14.01.2022 For anyone looking for a CBD cinema experience. We’re still hopeful Event Cinemas will allow Iconic Cinemas Proprietary Limited to take the reigns and reopen the Towers as a cinema.
14.01.2022 This is directly from the City of Newcastle’s night time economy strategy document. The consultation undertaken with community in the development of this strategy clearly notes the unique appeal and contribution of a cinema in this precinct.
11.01.2022 Wouldn’t it be lovely to see something like this at the Towers?
11.01.2022 As we know, cinema is an important component of the Civic Precinct. Event Cinemas. Who here is going to see one of these films?

08.01.2022 Time to get together again folks. Come along if you can.
08.01.2022 Flash back to 1999, which cinema do we think this was filmed in? Could it be the Towers?
07.01.2022 Lyrique Theatre, Newcastle. Some photos of what is left of Newcastle's historic Lyrique Theatre, taken on the afternoon of 6 May 2020. The entrance to the the...atre was originally located in Thorn Street, but this was later relocated to Woolf Street. Both the Woolf Street and Thorn Street facades are being maintained in the redevelopment but nothing will kept of the auditorium that was situated between them. 06.01.2022 Going to see some of the fantastic events at the Real Film Festival? This was just one of the many festivals that called the Tower Cinemas home. Still waiting for news on who will be awarded the lease.
05.01.2022 We agree. Now to have an open cinema in town to manifest this.
05.01.2022 Steel City Movie Days Steel City Movie Days by Crosley Carpenter was first published in Cinema Record Edition 1 - 2011, which is a publication of the Cinema and... Theatre Historical Society Inc. Crosley recalls at age five his first cinematic memory of seeing Walt Disney's animated One Hundred and One Dalmatians in the stalls at the Civic Theatre in Hunter Street, Newcastle. At this time, in 1962 there were still six cinemas in the city, i.e. the Strand, Lyrique, Victoria, Tatler, Civic and Royal, and now there are none following the closure of the Tower Cinemas by Event Hospitality and Entertainment Limited on 5 December 2018. You can support Iconic Cinemas efforts to reopen Newcastle's beloved Tower Cinemas by inviting your friends to join our Facebook page. It takes only a few seconds of your time using a new Facebook feature and will assist us in increasing the number of supporters.
