25.01.2022 Although we believed we had made very good progress in our endeavours to remove car parking from Moore Park East, we are extremely disappointed to learn from the SCG Trust that car parking is being made available on Moore Park East today for the T20 cricket match. We do not believe, for an event which is restricted to 23,000 people, it is necessary to open Moore Park East for car parking when there are already around 4,000 car parks in the precinct available. We sent a short ...letter to Minister Stokes’ Senior Policy Adviser expressing our considerable dissatisfaction. The link to this letter is here: https://tinyurl.com/y5x26tvf This makes completing the survey even more important. We need a significant response so the Government will wake up and do something. So if you haven’t already completed it, please do so. You can see our vision here: https://tinyurl.com/y6ncpe35 A link to the survey is here: https://tinyurl.com/yynssen3
25.01.2022 We don't fight for Moore Park for the recognition - we fight for Moore Park because we believe it is the right thing to do. That said, we are very humbled and grateful that Alex Greenwich, Member for Sydney, has given a Community Recognition Statement for Saving Moore Park in NSW Parliament. We are very grateful to Alex Greenwich for his strong support, and his and his staff's continued advocacy on behalf of Moore Park.... It is always difficult in the face of powerful resources, but knowing that we have such strong support in the community keeps us motivated and committed in our continuing fight for Moore Park. https://bit.ly/2Umhnhh https://www.savingmoorepark.com/adv-content-a-greenwich-rec

24.01.2022 In these challenging times where we are required to place the interests of our country above ourselves, it is perhaps even more fitting to remember the greater sacrifices of our fellow Australians, past and present. Perhaps we can use the stoicism, resilience and determination Australians used to endure great adversity in the past as shining examples to forge a path now. Although we cannot reflect on past sacrifices of our fellow Australians as a group in person, we can nonet...heless pay tribute to them in our own individual ways. 23.01.2022 Please help us with our six quick question survey Saving Moore Park has a vision for how Moore Park East can be revitalised for the benefit of the community and we’d like your views on it. You can give us your feedback on this by doing a quick survey (link below). It will take you as little as 2-3 minutes a bit longer if you want to provide us with lots of ideas!... Your views count. We will analyse the information everyone provides and give you feedback. Minister Stokes is aware that we are conducting this survey and we will convey the results directly to him as further evidence of the importance of this green space to the community and how it would like to use it in future. We appreciate if you could complete the survey by Wednesday 6, December. Michael Waterhouse President Saving Moore Park inc. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NPDFV2Z
14.01.2022 After doing so well for so long, look at the damage to Moore Park from car parking after one day ! Imagine what will happen if event car parking returns permanently ... Our message is getting out - but we still need your support. ... Have your say. Check out the three things you can do: https://www.savingmoorepark.com/22-newsletter Moore Park is Your Park www.SavingMoorePark.com.au www.facebook.com/SavingMoorePark www.twitter.com/SavingMoorePark
13.01.2022 The word is getting out that cars and parkland are incompatible. Remember: Moore Park does not belong to the SCG Trust or the sporting codes - it belongs to you. If there is something you would like to do to show support for ending event car parking on Moore Park, we have some suggestions:... 1. Register your support with Saving Moore Park: https://www.savingmoorepark.com/register-your-support 2. Write to Minister Stokes c/- Bec Mouy, Senior Policy Adviser in Stokes’ office at [email protected] with a copy to Suellen Fitzgerald [email protected] setting out your concerns about event car parking and how this, and the lack of funding for the Moore Park Master Plan, has contributed to the present dire situation. 3. Write to the Premier, pointing out that event car parking on Moore Park is inconsistent with the Government’s own Parks are for People program and must stop initially on the northern end. (The southern end can come later.) 4. Complete the Open Spaces survey: https://oeh.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_41o4L62db3dPzCt https://www.smh.com.au//disgraceful-condition-car-parking-

13.01.2022 As many of you have been using Kippax Lake field the one used by the Sydney Roosters for training - for exercise and to walk their dogs in recent months, we thought it would be helpful to let you know of changes that may impact on your access to the field in the coming weeks. Under a strict set of protocols formulated by the NRL, with input from biosecurity experts, teams in the National Rugby League competition have been cleared by the NSW Government to resume training fro...m 6 May 2020. It is anticipated that the competition will resume from 28 May 2020. We’ve been advised by the Centennial Park & Moore Park Trust that the Sydney Roosters will commence training on Thursday 7 May. The NRL requires clubs which train on open public fields to install temporary fencing around the perimeter of the field for the protection of players and staff. Therefore, from 7 May there will be temporary medium-level fencing at Kippax Lake Field to ensure biosecurity compliance for all pre-booked Sydney Roosters NRL training sessions. There will be no increase to the Sydney Roosters training hours on the field and as always, the field will remain accessible to the public outside training hours through entry points at the North and South ends. The Sydney Roosters will ensure the immediate removal of the temporary fencing once it deemed appropriate to do so by biosecurity experts, working in conjunction with the NSW Government. We haven’t been advised of the precise times the Roosters will be using the field, but will circulate these if they can be obtained. In any event, the rain and absence of car parking has done much to restore the grass cover on Upper Kippax field, making it a far more attractive area. 09.01.2022 We welcome Planning Minister Rob Stokes' desire to ‘boost tree canopy cover and combat urban heat across Sydney’: https://tinyurl.com/y2h9acas Completely incompatible with this philosophy is the continued use of Moore Park East as a car park. Allowing car parking on Moore Park East degrades the surface significantly, with medium to long term use ultimately leading to the grass dying and the surface turning to dust as it has in the past, thus increasing the heat in the surr...ounding area. There is a reason why, over 2020, with the increase in the passive use of Moore Park East, people have gravitated towards spending time on the beautifully curated rugby training field adjacent to the Tibby Cotter Bridge. The soft lush, manicured, grass on its surface is noticeably cooler and is in stark contrast with that of Moore Park East used for car parking. There are several cricket matches coming up at the SCG before Christmas. Is Rob Stokes going to allow a failure of imagination once again and say yes to car parking on Moore Park East, when the SCG’s capacity is reduced to 23,000, there are already 4,000 car parking spaces in the vicinity, and neither One Day International cricket game last week attracted a crowd over 18,000? Minister Rob Stokes you have displayed vision in your desire to increase tree canopy, and determination to personally intervene to prevent a private club on Bondi Beach: https://tinyurl.com/y2e9tfpq. Please show the same leadership for Moore Park East by preventing car parking on it. If you haven’t already, we would be grateful if you would complete our survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NPDFV2Z
08.01.2022 What better way to escape the heat today than go for a swim in (if you're a mother duck or ducklings) or walk around (if you're a human) Kippax Lake at Moore Park
07.01.2022 Well, after our advocacy it was extremely disappointing to see Moore Park East at near capacity on the Friday night (27 November) for the first One Day International match against India. Given the capacity at the SCG was limited to 23,000 and only 17,821 attended, why was Moore Park East opened up when there are already 4,000 car parking spaces in the vicinity? Anyway, perhaps common sense would prevail after extremely hot temperatures on Saturday 28 November (nearly 41 degre...es centigrade maximum recorded at Observatory Hill) and forecast for Sunday 29 November (nearly 41 again recorded), and poor old Moore Park East could be given a rest on Sunday 29 November, and perhaps a water? That's a hard no, people. There were even more cars last night (attendance 17,573). Adding insult to injury, whereas Moore Park East is visibly suffering from two car parking events at close to or at capacity and two days of extreme heat, this afternoon, the neighbouring rugby field, looking lush and feeling wonderfully soft underfoot, was still damp after what was probably an extensive watering earlier in the day. When is the NSW Government going to wake up to this absurdity? Moore Park is not a car park. Please complete our survey if you haven't already: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NPDFV2Z
