22.01.2022 Celebrating NAIDOC week from 8-15 November 2020. NAIDOC week is a celebration of the culture, achievements and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander peoples. The theme for this year is as follows : Always Was, Always Will Be. Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.... We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country. This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Australia has the world’s oldest oral stories. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. We built and engineered structures - structures on Earth - predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. Our adaptation and intimate knowledge of Country enabled us to endure climate change, catastrophic droughts and rising sea levels. Always Was, Always Will Be. acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future. Through ingenious land management systems like fire stick farming we transformed the harshest habitable continent into a land of bounty. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Our coastal Nations watched and interacted with at least 36 contacts made by Europeans prior to 1770. Many of them resulting in the charting of the northern, western and southern coastlines of our lands and our waters. For us, this nation’s story began at the dawn of time. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be. Text and poster of NAIDOC 2020 shared from https://www.naidoc.org.au/ The 2020 National NAIDOC Poster, Shape of Land, was designed by Tyrown Waigana, a Noongar and Saibai Islander man.

22.01.2022 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2377093125926814&id=100008784483002 As any Chinese medicine practitioner already knows, the Mawangdui scrolls are the oldest anatomical atlas in existence. These and other medical texts are studied by Chinese medicine practitioners and students as important foundations of our practice. This recent research confirms the fact that Chinese medicine is founded on scientific principles...well before the term "science" was coined in 1833,some 3800 years after these scrolls already existed. Chinese medicine is often derided as "prescientific" by its critics, but actually to be contextually correct it should be said that Chinese medicine is preexistent to the word science.

18.01.2022 Four Key TCM Principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) 1. Your body is an integrated whole. Each and every structure in your body is an integral and nece...ssary part of the whole. Along with your mind, emotions, and spirit, your physical body structures form a miraculously complex, interrelated system that is powered by life force, or energy. 2. You are completely connected to nature. Changes in nature are always reflected in your body. TCM factors in the particular season, geographical location, time of day, as well as your age, genetics, and the condition of your body when looking at your health issues. 3. You were born with a natural self-healing ability. Your body is a microcosm that reflects the macrocosm. Think about it: nature has a regenerative capacity, and so do you. Sometimes, this ability may appear to be lost or difficult to access. In most cases, it is never completely gone. 4. Prevention is the best cure. Do you know your body is continually revealing signs about the state of your health? Let’s face it, it’s common to ignore these signs or symptoms until something more complicated arises. TCM teaches you how to interpret what your body is telling you. Info sourced: https://www.tcmworld.org/what-is-tcm/

17.01.2022 Happy new year 2021. I hope the New year brings with it good health ,happy times and prosperity to you all. Thank you for your continued support during the last year and for trusting me to help with your health concerns. It was a difficult one for many people with all the kinds of changes that have had to be made and even though it was hard, most managed to navigate these difficulties with good humour and care. Here's to a better year in 2021.

14.01.2022 Something Acupuncturists are often asked about is the needles we use. This gives a bit of information on the origins of acupuncture needles through history. In modern acupuncture, all needles are single use, sterile and disposable for patient safety.

11.01.2022 Amazing documentary by @eanam38. Head to her page to watch the full video! #repost from @eanam38 Black revolutionaries in the 1970s used acupuncture as a means to serve the people. This video is about Dr. Tolbert Small, a physician for the Black Panther Party, and Dr. Mutulu Shakur (@freedrmshakur), a member of the Republic of New Afrika, and how they incorporated acupuncture into their toolkit as a way to care for marginalized communities in the Bay area and the South Bro...nx. Please let me know if you have any feedback :) To learn more about Dr. Shakur's work, please check out Dope is Death (@dopeisdeath) by Mia Donovan, a recent documentary that delves deeper in this history. This is the first of two videos, to learn more and for the bibliography, please visit the link in bio. A previous version of this video was uploaded recently but upon wider feedback, I realized that the name The Black Panther Party and Acupuncture? was misleading if a viewer did not watch the video in full. While Drs. Small and Shakur did work with the Panther Party, neither were ever formal members and thus only indirectly connected. With many varying accounts of this history, it is important that this video did not perpetuate any misunderstanding. As for the definition of revolutionary, I take Dr. Small’s definition, which is people who wanted to change society for the better. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CEzscAtHnzI/
