25.01.2022 The horses (Reebok and Yantala) had an unexpected visitor in their paddocks yesterday.

25.01.2022 This morning we welcomed a new addition to our horse family. Congratulations Georgina on the safe arrival of a black colt (boy) from Cadabra HASH Born on Sarah’s birthday .

24.01.2022 Friday afternoon lesson - these girls have improved so much that we could go for 3km trot out in an open paddock. These 3 girls had so much fun on Lennie, Cleo and Tinsel.

24.01.2022 My weekly horse riding students have had a successful term. Most of my students came to me with little or no experience with horses. By the end of the term, I am proud to say that they can all ride at a walk confidently, with many progressing to trotting. In addition to gaining confidence on their horse, they have also gained skills in horse handling and management.

24.01.2022 Our horses are not your typical riding school horses. They are also working horses that our family use on our farms. The past week the horses and my family had a few big days mustering, so we could process our cattle (seeing if our cows are pregnant, scanning, worm drench etc).

23.01.2022 I was trying to find a few photos of Menzies (our new fillies Mum) and came across one of my favourite videos of Sarah and a super patient and tolerant Menzies. Sarah is only 4 years old in this video - enjoy and feel free to laugh along with Darryl and I.

22.01.2022 This is what happened when I asked Tom and Sarah to swap horses . We are lucky our horses are so quiet at Savvy Stables.

22.01.2022 What your motivation for getting out of bed and enjoying the early mornings? I know it should be going for a horse ride, but my real motivation is milking my dairy cow Maja. Once I have the milk I need for my family her two surrogate calves Molly (the creamy calf) and Barry (the black and white calf) get the remaining milk for breakfast. How cute are Molly and Barry. (Thankyou to my photographer Jay Memory for these amazing photos)

22.01.2022 A day on our farm Teaghlaigh. Mustering the cattle to into the yards to worm dose and then move into a new paddock. A job made easy with my horse (Georgina) and Border Collie (Lindt). A special mention must also go to Harvey, the toy poodle, who also helped out .

19.01.2022 In the anticipation for lockdown I thought I would bring in the young horses ready to recommence their education. As you can see Reebok and Yantala are feeling energetic. They played like this for over an hour!!!.

18.01.2022 Lessons have started for 2020. The horses had a great rest and together we cant wait to teach our students to ride. The lessons are tailored to the needs of each rider and offer variety within a safe and relaxed environment. 2020 is going to be an exciting year as our undercover sand arena is nearing completion and we have been busy fencing new horse paddocks and more safe areas for lessons. Video: Tom puts Lennie into a canter for the first time after his 5 weeks of rest.

13.01.2022 First week of riding lessons for 2020 = happy riders and happy horses. Lessons focused on remembering the basic ground skills, horse control and getting balance and rhythm with a long trot around our paddock.

13.01.2022 Sarah and Tom enjoying stretching their horses out at Brookfield last holidays. Who was the winner? Tom on Cleo or Sarah riding Lennie?

12.01.2022 And we are on our way... for our family its a holiday, for the horses its Boot camp.

12.01.2022 Gotta love this little horse, he is such a cool character. Lessons continued today (after a week of rest), Sam was leading Reebok across the arena and Reebok decided he would like a roll and rest. He is not at all stressed about learning to be a ridden horse.

12.01.2022 Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and fantastic New YearWishing everyone a Merry Christmas and fantastic New Year

11.01.2022 Lachlans first ride on Yantala and it couldnt have gone better. We have taken our time with Yantala and will continue to take her at a pace that is comfortable for her and safe for the rider. Super proud of Lachlan and Yantala (I think they were as nervous as each other)

11.01.2022 Reebok’s first solo trot in the arena - I really love this little horse. Sam is also doing a great job as co-trainer and jockey.

10.01.2022 Leanne is a 4th generation farmer and like her dad, grandad and great grandad has a passion for rural Australia, agriculture and horses. Here a a few of Leannes favourite photos of her Dad, Ross Kelly, with his horses.

10.01.2022 Woo hoo - HAPPY Birthday to all our horses - Reebok is excited.

09.01.2022 We had many great rides while we were at Brookfield Guyra. This was one of our favourites where we had the privilege and pleasure of moving Cattle for Bald Blair Angus.

09.01.2022 Reebok has decided he would like to be Hockey Qlds new mascot.

08.01.2022 Here a couple of my favourite photos from our horse riding holiday near Guyra, NSW. Despite the long rides and hill sprints our horses still managed to put on weight during bootcamp.

08.01.2022 We are super excited to welcome this 18month old filly to our family. This is not just any random horse - She is the last filly to be sired by my dads ASH stallion (Absun). She is out of a mare named Menzies. We had Menzies on an extensive loan from friends and was ridden by Tom for 3 years.

07.01.2022 Over the last 2 years my kids have became so busy with school and sport that finding time to fit in a family horse ride was difficult. With Savvy Stables horse riding lessons put on hold, we are using this opportunity of social distancing and self isolating to ride as a family again. This morning was a relaxed trot around our paddocks.

06.01.2022 Remember the recent post of Reebok and Yantala? We have been working with them both daily. Today, Sam rode Reebok for the first time. To get to this point has involved lots of ground work, leading from another horse and a slow introduction to anything new. Reebok is such a calm and confident horse (he is also still cheeky).

05.01.2022 Lachlan’s first ride on Yantala and it couldn’t have gone better. We have taken our time with Yantala and will continue to take her at a pace that is comfortable for her and safe for the rider. Super proud of Lachlan and Yantala (I think they were as nervous as each other)

05.01.2022 Just like people, it is important that horses have regular dental checkups. Thank you Jerry from JW Equine Dentistry, for giving my horses there annual checkup.

04.01.2022 Reeboks first solo trot in the arena - I really love this little horse. Sam is also doing a great job as co-trainer and jockey.

03.01.2022 This is what happens when I leave my kids to do flat work on their horses - I return to find them playing Horseback Laser Tag .

02.01.2022 There have been a few times that I leave my kids with the horses for a few minutes and come back the find them horsing around. This time I went to get my helmet as Sam was going to hop on Yantala for the first time. Tom , with my phone, made this little documentary- so turn the sound up . If you watch carefully you can see when Sam spots my return. **please note the horse is not Yantala, but is Tinsel one of a beautiful quiet mares.

02.01.2022 What a great way to start our day with a Friday morning family horse ride. This morning we saddled up in the moonlight. An easy ride with Sarah, Tom and Darryl riding bareback, Sam riding Reebok, Lachlan on Tinsel and leading Yantala and I was riding Tony the pony.

01.01.2022 Its been a great year for riders and horses at Savvy Stables. Enjoy the Christmas holidays and I look forward to seeing everyone in 2020.

01.01.2022 Im so proud of Sam. At the beginning of his school holidays I gave him the opportunity (maybe better phrased as a challenge) to work with Yantala. His patients and kindness has definitely paid off. Yantala, while sensible and smart does not really trust or like people. As you can see by the photos, Yantala is gaining trust and even enjoys a rub on the forehead not just with Sam but even Sarah got to pat her.

01.01.2022 Leanne has been riding horses all her life. A few of her memories include her first horse Flicka and the challenge of climbing on without being bitten, riding with friends during high school and trail riding in the Guy Fawkes National Park and surrounds.

01.01.2022 Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
