21.01.2022 Today 12 Sept 1897 Battle of Saragarhi 21 Sikh Soldiers of 36th Sikh Regiment defending a signal station at the North West Frontier of current Pakistan faced 10,000 Afgani tribal force and died gallantly defending virtues of duty, uniform and motherland Saragarhi was basically a signaling post between two forts; Fort Lockhart and Fort Gulistan. The Pashtuns in order to capture these forts attacked the Saragarhi post on September 12, 1897, where these Sikh soldiers were dep...loyed. The head of the group, Havildar Ishar Singh had shown instances of utmost chivalry and the battle is regarded as one of the ultimate last-stands. All 21 of them lost their lives and the person who survived till the last, Sepoy Gurmukh Singh didnt lose his voice and enchanted Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal. The battle which took the lives 4800 Orkazai men including the Sikh men would always be reminisced not for the number of lives lost but for the boldness and spirit of the 21 Sikh men who became representative of the bravest battle in the history of humankind. #Saragarhiday #BoleSoNihalSatSriAkal http://www.australiansikhheritage.com/saragarhi

20.01.2022 Sikh Association of WA (SAWA) had applied for the India Covid-19 Crisis Relief Fund announced last month by West Australian Premier, Hon. Mark McGowan. SAWA is pleased to inform all members and Sangat that the application was successful, and we have received $300,000 to support this crisis relief initiative in India. SAWA had selected Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) as the beneficiary, recognizing its remarkable humanitarian Covid relief work. The funds tra...nsferred to DSGMC, will further enhance this ongoing support to community during this Covid-19 pandemic. These funds will be used by DSGMC for much needed Food, Oxygen Supplies, medicines, Ambulance services and to purchase ventilators/monitors and other medical equipment for 15 new ICU beds for new 100 bedded Covid Hospital being built at Gurdwara Bala Sahib, New Delhi. Not only we as sikhs but the humanity as a whole shall always be indebted to Sikh Gurus who gave us a Living Guru, Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj whose Light is guiding the world to walk on the path of One God. Guru Arjan Dev Ji put the Adi Granth at Harmandir Sahib Ji 1604. Baba Buddha Ji was the First Granthi and Bhai Gurdas Ji completed Adi Granth Sahib Ji as dictated by Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji in 1604. Later Guru Gobind Singh Ji added Shabads of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and then in 1708, Adi Granth became Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Eternal Guru of Sikhs as was declared by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
