24.01.2022 Long time racer Murray Iwanow has raced junior sedans, production sedans, super sedans and now sprintcars. In all this time one thing has eluded him, a WA Championship. This coming weekend, the hard charger Iwanow will attempt to put a number 1 on his immaculate no48 ford powered 360 Sprintcar. Get down to Collie Speedway on Saturday 16th January to witness Iwanow take on 18 other competitors all aiming to win the WA 360 Sprintcar Championship/ Rd5 of SAWA Sprintcar Series.
22.01.2022 Top 12 Points Countdown 7th - Mitch Wormall Points - 1054 After sitting out the first half of the year, Wormall returned to racing at Perth Motorplex. After a starting in P9, Wormall was hardcharger on a slick track finishing 5th. ... Next up Wormall made the trip to Collie Speedway. After a strong night winning multiple heats, Wormall dominated the feature racing to win his second WA 360 Sprintcar State Title. Missing the next round, Wormall returned to contest the Kalgoorlie event. With a pair of third places, Wormall backed it up with a 3rd place podium in the main event. The final round at Pithara saw Wormall leading the feature event before a flat tyre saw the W97 retire. It's fair to say if Wormall contests a full season he will be a serious championship contender. We at the SAWA Sprintcar Series would also like to wish Mitch a full recovery after suffering serious burns in a accident several weeks ago. Pic by Peter Roebuck
22.01.2022 Top 12 Points Countdown 8th - Steve Adley Points - 1021 Rounds Contested - 5... Adley returned to racing this season in the SAWA Sprintcar Series making his debut at Moora Speedway where he scored a solid 6th place result in the feature. Moving onto Perth Motorplex, Adley finished on the infield during the final. Next up the state title at Collie Speedway was an eventful meeting. With Adley finding the wall in the first set of heats with minor damage. The team fixed the car and finished 13th in the feature. Adley would miss the next round at Bunbury due to trailer issues preventing him from making the round. A long trip to Kalgoorlie Speedway resulted in a 9th place finished. While the final round at Pithara saw Adley D.N.F with a flat tyre. Pic by Blake Jones Photography

This season Joyce has campaigned in both the SAWA Sprintcar Series and Limited Sprintcar class. Joyce who hails from Moora, 2hrs north of Perth raced on his home track in round 3. He recorded some good heat results but DNF in the feature race. ... 20.01.2022 The 2020-21 WA sprintcar season officially came to a close with the combined Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series/Sprintcar Association of WA awards night at Burs...wood on Swan on Saturday night. It was the first time the awards night has been held since 2019, with last year’s event cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Callum Williamson was officially presented with the 2020-21 series championship after he dominated the season. It was a big night for the Williamson Motorsport ace who also received the Artificial Outdoor Solutions Drivers’ Driver award that was presented by award sponsor, Bruce Russell. He also featured prominently in the SAWA perpetual awards, winning the Feature Race Champion, Most Feature Race Firsts (7) and the Bonza Bradford Memorial Trophy for the best overall performance, taking that award from Dayne Kingshott and Jason Pryde. Kingshott was runner up in the overall series, putting in a stellar effort in the Krikke Motorsport W2. Third overall was Kris Coyle who also had a great year of improvement in the Merger Motorsport W79. He also received the Driver with the Most Potential award for the open division. Fourth was defending series champion Jason Kendrick in the Kendrick Racing W11, with Pryde, in the Jason Pryde Motorsport W14, fifth overall. Pryde added to his trophy collection by also taking home the Maddington Toyota Triple Crown at the end of the season. Sixth was Taylor Milling in the WD Drillers W25, with the Kalgoorlie-based racer showing some great improvement this season. Seventh was Kaiden Manders who contested the main series in the J&S Drilling W60. He also collected the WA Sprintcar Championship trophy after he won the title last December. In his first season back from a long hiatus, David Priolo was eighth overall in the Diamond Bay Motorsport/David Priolo Motorsport W26, showing he will be a force to be reckoned with next season. Ninth was a former two-time series champion in Brad Maiolo in the LJM Racing W77, also showing plenty of pace in the second half of the season to also be a threat next summer. Rounding out the top 10 was AJ Nash in the Colonial Motorsport W9 in what was a busy year for the third-generation sprintcar racer - also racing a Wingless Sprint at the back end of the season. 11th was Andrew Priolo in the Highway Harley Davidson Racing Team W8. Unfortunately he had a few top five race finishes slip after enduring some big crashes - which also saw him receive the SAWA King of Crash award. 12th went to Daniel Harding in the Harding Racing W41 - being another driver who had some big chances for victory slip after a big run of bad luck. Harding did however claim the Victory Valves overall Quick time award, the SAWA Hard Luck Award and the Artificial Outdoor Solutions Boomerang award. 13th went to James Inglis in the James Inglis Motorsport W80, with 14th to Trevor Jolly in the Harding Racing W18, 15th to Ben Butcher in the Ben Butcher Racing W42 and 16th to Cameron McKenzie in the Double Deuce Motorsport W4. McKenzie was also announced the series Rookie of the Year and the SAWA Most Improved Driver of the Year. Jaydee Dack, in the Midwest Concrete Pumping W67, was 17th, with American Brock Zearfoss, who contested the USA v WA Sprintcar Speedweek series and won it, being 18th overall. His award was collected by car owner Sean Carren, who also collected for him the SAWA Fastest Lap in Heats and Features awards. Robbie Farr, who also contested Speedweek, in the second Pryde Motorsport 14, was 19th overall, with his award collected by team boss Jason Pryde. Ryan Lancaster in the Dingo De Motorsport W20, rounded out the top 20. Kendrick was second overall to Pryde in the Triple Crown series, with Nash third overall. Matthew Cross received the SAWA Encouragement award for the open division. Daniel Hartigan was the toast of the town in the SAWA Sprintcar Series, putting in a great effort in the Terry Cutts Racing W5. He won from Paul Peet, Phil Waters, Troy Lawson, Tim Ryan, Vince Rosenthal, Mitchell Wormall, Steve Adley, Ryan Lancaster and Tom Callaghan. The SAWA 360 awards were also presented with George Eaton winning the Encouragement Award and Hartigan getting the nod as the Driver with the Most Potential. Hartigan’s haul continued when he also won the Bonza Bradford Memorial Trophy for the best performance in the division, taking the win from Peet and Ryan. Naturally his good season also meant he won the Most Feature Race Wins trophy (3) and he was the Feature Race Champion as well. Wormall collected the WA 360 Sprintcar Championship award. The SAWA President’s Inspirational award went to Vince and Leanne Rosenthal with Jason Bloxsidge winning the President’s Volunteer Award. Tim Ryan was announced the SAWA Rookie of the Year, while Peet won the Club Person Award, Krikke Motorsport received the Best Presented Car Award and Kendrick Racing the Best Presented Crew Award. 19.01.2022 Top 12 Series Points Countdown 11th - George Eaton Points - 789 Rounds contested - 5... Newcomer to the sport George Eaton endured an up and down season. A good start to the season saw George racing both the SAWA Sprintcar Series and SEG Series. During the SAWA Sprintcar Series, George had good results including a 5th at Moora Speedway and a fine 6th at Collie Speedway during the WA 360 State Championship. The season went pear shaped after that point, when a big crash at Kwinana Motorplex saw the young racer on the sidelines for the last two rounds. Eaton was third on points at that stage, but decided to sit out and rebuild the car for the coming season. Pic by Stumac95
19.01.2022 Top 12 Series Points Countdown 9th- Ryan Lancaster Points - 942 Rounds contested - 5... An up and down season for Lancaster started at Ellenbrook Speedway with a DNF in the feature race. On a tricky track at Moora, a fourth placing in the feature race was a decent result. The third round at Kwinana saw Lancaster run both 410 SEG Sprintcars and the SAWA Sprintcar Series with two cars. After qualifying on the front row, Lancaster started outside on a very slick track and managed to finish third. At Collie Speedway, Lancaster struggled in the feature race finishing 9th. Returning for the final round at Pithara, Lancaster retired from the race after damaging a left rear rim during the feature. Pic by Stumac95 Photography

13.01.2022 Top 12 Series Points Countdown 12th - Taylor Milling Points - 696 Rounds contested - 3 rounds... Taylor Milling's season with the SAWA Sprintcar Series was a mixed bag of results. In all 3 events Milling contested, he was in a strong position to finish up front. At the State Title at Collie Speedway, Milling hurt an engine in his final heat while leading and near top of points. Kalgoorlie saw Milling race to a big win in front of his local fans. While Pithara saw a blown right tyre end his charge. A special thanks must also go to his father Scott Milling, a former Sprintcar racer who's business was an inaugural partner of the series. Thankyou Westralian Diamond Drillers. Pic by Mel Parker

07.01.2022 The march towards the SAWA Sprintcar Series sophomore season has begun. Recently a forum was held to gain feedback from drivers and crews about the recent season, with a fantastic turnout verifying what a great first season the series had. Over the coming months news will be updated when received, but we look to an even bigger season. More series rounds, bigger cars counts and a larger prize-pool.
07.01.2022 Ben Butcher is another young West Aussie sprintcar driver trying to reach the top step in a tough, at times brutal sport. Last weekend Butcher was racing in the WA Sprintcar Speedweek when he was the innocent party of a first lap pileup in the final feature race. Butcher is sure to bounce back and will this week put his trusty 360 engine between the rails to compete for WA 360 Sprintcar Title at Collie Speedway. ... As a former 360 Australian Championship placegetter and 360 Power Series winner, Butcher will be one of the favourites to win an elusive WA 360 Sprintcar Championship. Pic by Stumac95 Photography

04.01.2022 Last round Tom Callaghan was runner up in the feature race, can he go one spot better this coming weekend at the WA 360 Sprintcar Championship? Callaghan was last seasons SAWA/SEG rookie of the year, impressing many with his maturity while still at high school. If Callaghan breaks through and wins this weekend's WA championship, he would become one of the youngest ever winners. But a field of 19 other drivers are ready to fight for glory at Collie Speedway.
01.01.2022 A wildcard joins the field!! Aldo DePaoli is back in the seat after being team owner for Scott Bogucski during the recent WA Sprintcar Speedweek. The team endured a torrid first couple of nights before turning it around big time at the final show, finishing 2nd in the main event. Interesting fact during the winter months DePaoli spends his time circuit racing a historic Chev Camaro.... With the field now boasting a strong 20 nominations. Get down to Collie Speedway on Saturday night for the WA 360 Sprintcar Championship.
01.01.2022 Top 12 Series Points Countdown 10th- Tom Callaghan Points - 888 Rounds contested - 4... After winning SAWA Rookie of the Year the previous season, Callaghan joined the series at the Perth Motorplex round. Starting with a bang Callaghan won his first heat race contested and took a fine second place in the feature race. At Collie Speedway for the state title, Callaghan again placed well with a 4th placed finish against strong competition. Moving onto Bunbury Speedway another podium placing of third was achieved. Kalgoorlie Speedway unfortunately saw the youngster crash out at the start of the a-main after starting on the front row. At each round contested, Callaghan won heat races and proved to be a serious contender. With his 360 Sprintcar now sold, Callaghan is rumored to be moving to midgets. But hopefully we haven't seen the last of the young hardcharger in the winged warriors. Pic by Mel Parker
