20.01.2022 Today, on ANZAC Day, we remember all our service men and women who have served our nation and paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Womens War Memorial located at St. Marys, South Australia, is one of the few memorials dedicated to Australias nurses and servicewomen. The memorial has a particular focus on the massacre of Australian nurses by Japanese troops during World War II known as the Bangka Strait Massacre with a Memorial Service held in February each year. ... Thank you to all who have served. LEST WE FORGET.

20.01.2022 The SA Womens Memorial Playing Fields Trust (SAWMPF) precinct was established by Liberal Premier Sir Thomas Playford in 1953 to encourage the participation of women in sport and establish a living memorial for defence service women and nurses. We hope that a redevelopment of the entire SAWMPF precinct will renew these objectives by providing a community hub for sport and commemoration. Photo: Sir Thomas Playford, State Library of SA
