21.01.2022 Ten try their luck at Pt Turton. Well, it wasn't through lack of trying, but sadly there was hardly a fish to be found for the two days we had in and around Pt Turton. They were probably full from gorging themselves on blood worms! On Tuesday two tried Edithburgh jetty but apart from 1 red mullet (caught by Anne), there were no more keepers. The only other result was 2 mullet caught by Lee at Pt Turton. Wednesday: a new day, high hopes and plenty of enthusiasm st...ill failed to produce good catches. Jan won B grade with her one salmon trout and sand crab and Mem won A grade with her one salmon trout. These were caught at beautiful Burners Beach. Thursday at 4 am and at 4 degrees temperature two crazy, wishful fishers set off to try for squid off the Pt Turton jetty. One had luck with 2 in the bucket and the other sadly had none. Full points for perseverance and patience though! Lack of success was more than made up for at gatherings back in the cabin, around the table with a glass of red in hand and plenty of good stories and laughter. NEW MEMBERS WOULD BE MOST WELCOME TO JOIN US AT ANY TIME. IF INTERESTED RING DIANE ON 0417121186. See more

18.01.2022 Although not a competition some of the club members fished for 2 days at Stansbury with mixed success. Most of us went home with a feed of fish for at least one meal (including breakfast). We may not have been very active during the day but we made up for it as we gathered in the cabins at night for drinks, nibbles and dinners. It was great fun and I can thoroughly recommend relaxation and recreation at the Stansbury caravan park or anywhere on Yorke Peninsula.

14.01.2022 On behalf of the members of the South Australian Women's Amateur Angling Club I would like to express our most sincere sympathy to Janice Dienelt on the passing of her daughter Francine on January 15. Though we didn't know Francine, Jan is one of our loved members and we all share her sadness. Stay strong Jan and we hope to see you soon.

13.01.2022 Wallaroo ... for some boohoo!! Wallaroo ... for others yabadabadoo!! Our two day trip to the Copper Coast, like the curate's egg: good in parts. Day 1 on the Moonta jetty, though absolutely perfect weather conditions, yielded not ONE fish ... life back at the cabin and at Cooper's Alehouse made up for it though! Day 2 at Wallaroo marina, beach and jetty was a mixed bag with some fish caught. We continue to be puzzled why 4 of us can be a couple of metres apart using same t...ackle, bait, berley etc and why 2 catch fish to take home snd 2 don't. Again results were put aside while at the end of the day we all enjoyed a drink and lots of laughs. The snapper, by the way, was 38 cm and legal size but went back to enjoy life for another 3 years or so ... boo hoo!!! The fish displayed so proudly were tommies, weedie whiting and crabs. Great fun (especially for some). See more

05.01.2022 To Coffin Bay - eight of us drove from Adelaide on Monday. It was a long drive but with 2 in each car and conversation to pass the time and kilometres we arrived in no time - well, in 8 hours, but it was worth it! We settled in, popped the corks and devoured the local delicacy: oysters by the dozen, as we watched the sun go down. Bliss! Day 1: Off to Seal Corner for some fishing. The last kilometre tested our nerves as we navigated cars along the rough, stony track. Fishing o...n the ledge at Seal Corner is an adventure and not for the faint hearted. But we were rewarded with bites a-plenty and some keepers to take home. Day 2: A drive to Little Douglas beach and lines were in with mixed success. The water was beautiful and the weather warm. The day ended with a fabulous seafood meal at 1802 oyster restaurant where we also caught up with our friends from Pt Lincoln Angling Club. Day 3: Tried our luck in front of the house then moved to the town jetty. Lots of tommies and salmon trout, a KGW and a trevalley were caught here. Lightning, a thunderstorm and some rain at the end of the day sent us back to the house but not before we loaded up with more oysters and a fitting end to our trip. It was great fun - we especially enjoyed getting together at the end of the day and thankyou to all the girls for a wonderful five days. See more

05.01.2022 On Tuesday it was off to Lake Bonney and I am pleased to report we ALL caught fish! Diane Bradley was queen of the lake with her catch of 10 carp weighing in at 18 kgs. All up, 8 of us, after 5 and a half hours, contributed 30 kgs worth of carp which we deposited at a prearranged collection point, for use as garden fertiliser. Wednesday, a slight change of plan because of the heat, Marietta Faure won the day when after 2 hours she caught 3 carp weighing in at 8 kgs. Togethe...r 6 of us caught 8 fish and again sent them off to be turned into fertiliser. It was great fun. The cabins at Lake Bonney Discovery Tourist Park were beautiful. Our only regret was that we had to pack up and leave early due to COVID Lockdown. Nevertheless a stop on the way home at Banrock Station for a beautiful lunch was a great end to a most enjoyable fishing comp at Lake Bonney. Here are some photos. See more
