25.01.2022 Congratulations to Brighton who Proceed to the grand final to face Onkaparinga next Saturday
25.01.2022 Grand final week continues with a mini throw back to 2017 South's vs Old Collegians https://www.facebook.com/SARugbyUnion/videos/1626465680707616/
25.01.2022 It's finals time Saturday we saw Brighton meet Burnside to stay in this year's race for the big dance and Adelaide University faced off against Onkaparinga for the chance of another much needed week off and their place in the 2020 Grand Final Brighton 20 to Burnside 12... A depleted Burnside took on Brighton who were also carrying a few injuries from the season on a very warm Spring Saturday. It was Brighton who stung first with a sensational run from Bree Nathan scoring out wide. Burnside on the backfoot from this point defended hard shutting down and putting pressure on the fast running Brighton. Burnside showing some of their own magic with Jonwyn Meredith scoring to level the score, another try to Brighton through Jessie Bennie saw them lead at 1/2 time 10 - 5. A try from Burnside's Aine Rutley and conversion from Chippy saw the Bunnies take a confidence boosting lead, but the wind was knocked out of their sails by the hard running Bree Nathan who once again scored shortly after Burnside lost Chippy to a Blue card. Another score for Brighton via TK deemed too much for Burnside to crawl back from. Strong defense from both sides with some hard hits saw this a sensational display of rugby for the spectators. Onkaparinga 39 to Adelaide University 29 In this SF Onkas continued their winning streak against uni, with their third from three matches this year against last year’s premiers. Onkas led from the start, with an early try from the kickoff, and although the Women in Black looked like closing the gap more than once, Onka’s robust attack and smart defensive strategy served them well. This was a great contest and a physical display. Onkas go straight through to the Big Dance, while Uni gets the second bite of the cherry and play Brighton this weekend.
24.01.2022 A massive congratulations to Onkaparinga Rugby Union Football Club. Not only this year's minor premiers but taking home the Bob Ellard Cup, what a season these athletes have had & what a game!!!!!
24.01.2022 Happy International Womens Day! This year lets value women's contributions and achievements more, be aware of bias and question assumptions we make about women, keep an open mind about equality and inclusion, and notice and question when women are not present or equal. #EachforEqual

22.01.2022 Round 2 (or is it round 1) This week we see the start of the 2020 rugby season for points, we welcome back Port Adelaide and Old Collegians Here are the results... South 25 to Port 7 Hard hitting, hard running from both teams. Definitely a forward game, more experience on the souths side. Great team photo with both teams at the end and some big cuddles Woodies 3 to Uni 61 Woodies starting short with 13 had a few injuries along the way, Uni using this to their advantage spinning it out wide. Alot of fresh girls from Woodies still learning but learnt alot from today Onkas 32 to Brighton 17 With the first points available for the season, onkas took on Brighton down at Onkaparinga. Onkas putting points on early against Brighton, however Brighton kept coming hitting back putting up some points of their own. A couple of injuries for Brighton meant they had to play 2 players down for the remainder of the game. Onkas capitalising and taking the win. Couple of great new players from both sides, will be exciting to see these women learn more as the season goes on. Burnside 48 to Old Cols 0 Two very new squads on display for Burnside vs Old Collegians, Burnside with numbers and more experience on the day. Old Collegians looked threatening at times showing promise of good things to come. Burnside captain Aoife Rutley lead from the front with blistering line breaks, similarly Portia Bradley made her presence felt, mincing the defence with some massive runs. Thank you to everyone that got a tap on the shoulder for a mini report this week, hope to spread it around. How good is rugby?
22.01.2022 Well that's a wrap for 2020 Here's the game for your viewing pleasure I would suggest it was the best game of the weekend
21.01.2022 Round 11 Southern Suburbs 5 to Adelaide University 24 Two very different teams from the 2019 Grand Final, with many new players on each side providing a fast pace and entertaining game. ... Both teams fought hard until the end with Southern Suburbs taking an early lead but Adelaide University fighting hard and using their quick speed on the wings to take the lead in the first half and scoring a final try in the second half to seal their win. The defence by both teams was excellent, with quick rucks and great support. Old Collegians 0 to Woodville 24 Woodville were fortunate to have great numbers which included a full bench, while College once again ran out with three players short. The contest was physical from the whistle with Woodville wanting to cement their spot in the top four and College wanting to continue their season showcasing this new teams skills and determination. Although College was without their gladiator captain this week, the return of 2018 superstar Shahaan Kermeen stirred excitement throughout the club! Woodville opened the scoring early capitalising on their three man overlap and strong ball running from Zahn Anthony, a trend which continued throughout the game. College lost three players to injury soon after starting the second half and sadly this meant the game could not continue to full time and was called with 20 minutes to go. Woodville took out the win 24-0. Brighton 39 to Port Adelaide 0 Brighton at home against Port Adelaide, with them facing each other for the 1st and only time this season. Both teams showed up today with great numbers to assist with the battle ahead. Brighton got off to a great start with a try from Jade Byers, you could tell by the way she celebrated that it was her first try of her rugby career. The game showcased a big battle in the fowards all day with some massive hits and superior skill on displayed from both sides. Ports Emma Bovoro was a stand out and showed great leadership throughout the game, often coming up with the ball when cleaning out. Brighton come away with the win 39 to nil, with Foxy Clune and Jessie Bennie scoring twice and Jess Hinds running one in just before the game ended. Port did not show any signs of giving up and played a physical game to the end. The game was played with high intensity and great display of Womens rugby. Both Brighton and Port Adelaide showed their appreciation towards the officials after the game with a group photo. Big thank you to all our SA officials. Brightons player of the day, Kayley Longstaff Port Adelaide, Rhizza Sumalpong
21.01.2022 If you dont see the junior action every week you may not be aware of how many girls are joining the ranks. It seems every junior team has at least a smattering of girls if not a large contingent. Its amazing to see the next generation of South Australian womens rugby players and I think we are in safe hands with these young women in our future! This picture sums up how bad ass our girls are, playing the game they love. ... : Elizabeth Rugby Club

20.01.2022 Round 7 Only the 2 games played this weekend but what crackers. A strong win for Woodville over new team Port and an upset meaning no undefeated teams left in the womens comp this season as Onkas lose to Burnside Port Adelaide 10 to Woodville 62... Womens game was certainly enjoyable. Woodville came out dominant in the first half, having an experienced backline allowed the girls to attack the gaps in Port Adelaides defence line. Port Adelaide playing their fifth game in the comp as a new team showing support and intensity in their first phases. However they gave away too many penalties which allowed the Wasps to score points against the Pirates and finishing on top in the first half of the match. Port Adelaide lacking in defence created opportunities for the Wasps to lead into the second half with a try. Ema Bovoro landing discomforting kick offs to the Wasps created an opportunity for the Pirates to score their second try. Both teams displayed great intensity and passion. Woodville Wasps concluded the game on top. Watch the highlights here https://www.facebook.com/SARugbyUnion/videos/2692015687786721/?d=null&vh=e Burnside 39 to Onkaparinga 17 Onkaparinga went into the game as deserved favourites with their undefeated run so far this season. However, Onkas were missing four big names from their line-up which gave Burnside a little sniff of possibility. Burnside were first to score fairly early on through exciting newcomer Kate Tihema. This was quickly answered via a classy intercept try to Ella Christie. The teams traded tries again and went into halftime with Burnside just in front. The second half saw Burnside get a couple of tries up and enjoying just a tiny bit of breathing room, but Onkas made sure they were not able to relax. In addition to the blistering runs from Tihema, who bagged herself a trifecta, Burnside relished some brutal and barraging runs from forwards Laura Helbig and another newcomer Rachel Jose. While Onkaparinga stamped their authority in the scrums in first half, they had to make a couple of substitutions for injury, which allowed Burnside to dominate the scrum in the second half. Overall a great display of rugby from both teams, Burnside coming away with a confidence building win and showing that the womens competition is still wide open for season 2020. Thank you once again for your contribution ladies. Well this season is getting exciting with only 10 points separating the top 5 and the top 3 yet to have their bye

19.01.2022 Round 6 Onkaparinga 65 to Old Collegian's 20 On Saturday onkas and Old cols went head to head in a tough match. Old cols were short a few players so onkas gave them their bench and rotated at half time. Since the last time these two teams went against each other, old cols have improved a lot more and have developed a strong team, with players that are set to excel in the future. Old cols started off very strong with hard runs by Alicia and their first try scored by Shobhan. O...nkas then fired back with a try by Ella Christie not long after. Old cols gave it a good crack but werent able to get the win however onkas got a well deserved win. Few injuries from both sides hoping for a speedy recovery for all! Exciting to see the development in womens rugby grow! Great game between the two and Well done to onkas for taking out the win 65-20! Brighton 36 to Southern Suburbs 5 B- rightons third home game for the season saw the home team and Southern Suburbs go head to head R- eady for action, both teams fielded a full squad I- ncredible performance by Souths saw them first across the try line G- reat hustle from the Brighton women resulted in an even score board H- eadwind behind the home team lead to a quick succession of tries T- ough defensive game from both teams, with a lot of big hits O- utstanding players include Gards, Sarah Hunter, Tamikha, Quahli, Momo and Brighton mug winner Lauren Payne N- ice work girls Burnside 40 to Woodville 15 Hard start for both teams today with some strong and fast rugby being played. Early in the game burnside got the ball through the hands and Jonny Meredith scored the first try, wining the calcutta for her family. Lots of hard and very fast ball running from Woodville's centres and lots of quick pick and gos from their forwards which the Burnside ladies found hard to defend. Kate Tehema hit her lines hard scoring another two tries for the bunnies. All round a good, hard and constantly improving competition for the womens Barossa 12 to Adelaide Uni 66 Up against the uni Rams woman fielded a full set of 15 for the first time in 2020 but we're no match for the vast experience that uni had. Starting off strong and holding you any off for the first 20 minutes of the game and leading by 5 -0, Browns weren't able to capitalise on some good ball posession before Uni kicked in and ran away with the game, eventually winning by over 60 Thank you again for those who took the time out for your mini match reports, special mention to Brighton for theirs. Let's keep our game going, so do the right thing and follow restrictions your club and RUSA put in place Rugby what a game

18.01.2022 Round 8 Port 10 to Burnside 77 The Pirates played a very physical defensive game against Burnside, at yet another home game hosted by Port Adelaide Pirates. Burnside utilising their strength and experience in their forwards created gaps with big runs from Laura Helbig and Kathryn Van Diemen drawing in the Pirates defence line which enabled Burnside to run through the first half on top with a dramatic margin. The Pirates had many opportunities presented for counter rucking b...ut were unsuccessful in contest however stepped up their scrum intensity in the second half and enforced hard phases leading to a try. With the Pirates inexperience created many penalties giving Burnside the lead to second half and concluded the game on top. Southern Suburbs 10 to Onkaparinga 62 Both Souths and Onkas fielding full teams with benches, it was a hard and physical game from both sides. The teams were quite evenly matched in the forwards with competitive scrums and line outs. Onkas back line speed mixed with their experience, hard running and their tackle breaking proved extremely effected enabling them to spread the ball wide and making the most of every opportunity. The game was played with a lot of love between the teams and great sportsmanship. Congrats Onkas on a well deserved win Woodville 26 to Barossa 0 The prospect of Saturdays game being played was looking dire with Barossa only being able to field eleven players and suffering a few injuries early on. A testament to Woodvilles sports(wo)manship, they matched numbers for a game that more closely resembled rugby 7s. This played to Zahn Anthonys hand, finding space on the outside for three tries in the first. Another pair of tries from Vic Cousins bursting through the defensive line and kicking the teams four conversions saw a strong game for the skipper. Nabilah Ismail, who has discovered Running It Straight for the first time this season, broke through for a half field run and even managed a sneaky try in the last. Fiesty Serai Vuata decided enough was enough also and put her head down to slice through the opposition for another. Half time saw the Wasps share players with the Rams and due to numerically-challenged coach, Jack Chitty, they gave Barossa more players than the remaining Woodville side. Although no scores being officially counted after this point, it allowed the Rams to play with more flow and managed to retain the ball well to play some better-structured rugby. Looks like a good round played with an abundance of rugby spirit and

15.01.2022 Round 3 Onka's 65 to Port 12 Saturdays game was a lot tougher then expected. Port came out strong with solid scrums and solid defence. Onka's had to work hard and played quite sloppy in the first half even though they were up. Second half Onka's switched on a bit more and played some good rugby. A lot of support plays where they broke the line but port also had some strong runners who did the same thing back. In the end the score was 65 -12 Onka's way but the score doesnt r...eflect on the solid game that was played. Woodville 17 to South's 15 Saturday was Woodvilles first opportunity to field a full side. Having taken a lot from our trial game 2 weeks ago, Woodville were more prepared to be competitive in all areas. It was a hard fought game but Woodville came out on top in a closely contested game. Thanks Souths for a great contest. Uni 19 to Brighton 41 Round 3 saw Adelaide Uni take on Brighton at home in wet weather conditions. It was a spirited performance from both teams with Uni having the better of the possession throughout, but missing that elusive final pass. Brighton clung in and scored their points through breakaway tries despite stout defense from Bennett, Kildare and Rydon. An excellent game of rugby to watch, played fairly throughout. Both teams will take away positives going forward into the next round. Barossa 0 to Burnside 19 Fielding only 11 players for the match, the Barossa Rams Women's Rugby team surprisingly held their own against a full compliment of Burnside with reserves to boot. Burnside taking advantage of the 4 person overlap, ran two tries in during the first half of the match and one in the beginning stages of the second half. The Rams showing some gutsy scrambling defence that shut the overlap down throughout the match but never managed to get through the Burnsides swarming defence. Essentially a match of unforced errors by both teams keeping the score from blowing out. Thank you to the people who helped out with a little match reports this week, it makes it for a more interesting read! RUGBY

14.01.2022 Whats you club doing to stay in touch?
14.01.2022 The Round 8 game at Southern Suburbs saw the return of a very welcome site in women’s rugby with a female referee holding the whistle at centre pitch for the game! Amanda Sheeky is a first year rugby referee, working her way up through junior AR and junior centre pitch duties during the season before her appointment to a women’s game. Incredibly rapid progress for a debutant, but the Touch players amongst us will know that Amanda is far from a first year referee! Amanda, 3...7, is one of the best touch referees in the world, evidenced by her selection to adjudicate the Final of the Women’s Touch World Cup in Kuala Lumpa last year. An amazing achievement! We caught up with Amanda to learn more about one of our new women in rugby. What made you decide to make the switch from Touch to Rugby? I was asked to give it a go by a union ref who was playing in a touch football game I refereed. Took me a little while but I was definitely intrigued and interested in learning something new What has been your favourite part about Rugby reffing so far? I’ve had a great time so far. It’s definitely made me appreciate what it’s like to be a beginner ref again. But that helps me to empathise with the new touch refs I help to coach. The players have been really great and supportive and so have the coaches and other referees. It’s been a really positive experience. And the most challenging part? I’ve got nearly 15 years of combined state, national and international referee experience in touch football and I really love refereeing. But honestly learning a game with so many laws has definitely been the most challenging. I know the importance of gaining the necessary experience but it’s definitely testing my patience. As a referee I’m always aiming to give the players the best experience I can. Do you have a goal for what you want to achieve in rugby refereeing? Another world cup? I will definitely be pushing myself to see how far I can go and what I can achieve. That includes any tournaments or games at a national or international level. I’ve been selected and attended 2 touch World Cups and it would be amazing to achieve anything at that level in rugby. It comes as no surprise that feedback from players in Amanda’s handful of Rugby Union games has been incredibly positive, and we are looking forward to seeing much more of her, Welcome to our game Amanda Vivienne Oakley

13.01.2022 Just a quick little summary of Saturday's game Adelaide University 22 to Brighton 31 The strong fast pace start to the game was a sign of things to come and that both sides meant business. The possibility to face off againy Onkaparinga in next weeks grand final was on the line, on one was ready to concede thier season just yet.... There was little in this game with well matched experienced forwards and fast paced backs, 9 tries in the game from all over the paddock showed both teams were playing cohesively and linking up nicely. Big game this weekend for Brighton as they take on the well rest Onkaparinga - 12 o'clock Brighton oval
13.01.2022 Still around the ground in this week of Grand Finals we travel to NSW were we see another export in action, the K Train Eva Karpani
13.01.2022 Round 5 Woodville 5 vs Onkaparinga 43 Coming off a good win and then the bye, Woodville had a bench for the first time this season. The girls knew it was going to be a tough game against the Onkas girls from the kick off and fought hard in defence. They managed to get over the line for a try but Onkas experience and speed were too much for the young Wasps side. It was a great exciting game played by both teams.... Adelaide Uni 28 to Burnside 12 This was a brutally hard fought match. Its safe to say that today the players will be literally black and blue. (Geddit?!) The scoreboard did not reflect how very close this contest was, with Unis four tries to Burnsides two slightly flattering University. The teams were sitting at two tries apiece for most of the match, and Burnside had two disallowed tries (knocked on and held up). University struggled to match the aggressive Burnside forwards who dominated the breakdowns and starved Uni of meaningful possession. Burnside played a physical, grinding, patient game leading to the tries from Kate Tihema and Jonny Meredith, but University slipped through for the win thanks to their electric backline who took advantage of every opportunity, including a brazen intercept try from Rebekah Jones and a 70m runaway from Alice Gregory. Old Collegians 7 to Southern Suburbs 36 The OC ladies show a lot of confidence after winning for the first time the previous week. This confidence was no different this week even though they were outnumbered 12 v 17. OC fought hard with 3 tires to 0 in the first half to Souths, OC did well to keep South bunked in their own half for the second part. The second half started with Souths running some solid lines through OCs exhausted defence allowing for their 4th try. A spectacular break from OCs Alecia Pienaar scoring under the posts for their first try of the game. With OC left with 10 players Souths leant them 2 but the fuel had run out of our OC defense which allowed two more quick tries by Souths due to an overlap Port Adelaide 28 to Barossa 0 The Barossa Rams womens team unfortunately had to forfeit the match against Port Adelaide. Once again for to this weeks roving reporters
13.01.2022 Round 10 Barossa 12 to Southern Suburbs 33 Barossa put on a much improved display of rugby over the weekend, despite going down again to Souths 32-12. The last time South played Barossa, they were trounced 68-7. This time around, with the difference coming in the form of the experience that Souths had on the field. ... The Rams Women had a good mix of running and forwards rugby with clean breakdown work and excellent running that saw Jan and Jorja running in the Rams tries. Other opportunities went begging though, with inexperienced decision making onfield failing to capitalise on opportunities. Onkaparinga 17 to Adelaide University 12 The game was close and competitive the whole time, both teams really stepped up from last time and it showed all over, from line outs to scrums and open play. Was a very close game considering Onkas were down at half time and only won by one try which was scored in the last five minutes. Port Adelaide 34 to Old Collegians 37 An almighty clash between the 2020 newcomers to the Womens competition at Riverside Oval, with Port Adelaide hosting Old Collegians. Despite being short on numbers, Old Collegians demonstrated quality skills to break the line and score the early points. The match was a classic arm wrestle, with both teams taking the lead multiple times during the match. In the end Old Collegians came out victors. Burnside 5 to Brighton 34 A very physical game from both teams. Promising signs early for Burnside when they found space on the Brighton edges. Brighton played their forwards close to the breakdown. They sustained in-close pressure against the Burnside defence was a titanic struggle of ascendency. Brighton capitalised on the Burnside errors and were scored early. Burnsides middle of the field defence was strong, Brighton found space out wide and created and utilised their opportunities. Burnsides attack was hampered by ball handling errors which Brighton used to their advantage. Burnside responded early in the 2nd half with both teams having stand out performances from their fly halfs and flankers. Thanks again to this weeks roving reporters.

10.01.2022 Round 4 Old Collegians 35 to Port Adelaide 15 College hosted Port Adelaide in a clash of the newbies which saw College walking away with their first win of the season. The game was physical from start to finish, with debutants on both sides showing some natural raw talent. Lots of hard and very fast ball running from Woodvilles centres and lots of quick pick and gos from their forwards which the Burnside ladies found hard to defend. Kate Tehema hit her lines hard scoring another two tries for the bunnies. All round a good, hard and constantly improving competition for the womens Barossa 12 to Adelaide Uni 66 Up against the uni Rams woman fielded a full set of 15 for the first time in 2020 but were no match for the vast experience that uni had. Starting off strong and holding you any off for the first 20 minutes of the game and leading by 5 -0, Browns werent able to capitalise on some good ball posession before Uni kicked in and ran away with the game, eventually winning by over 60 Thank you again for those who took the time out for your mini match reports, special mention to Brighton for theirs. 02.01.2022 Ah rugby we missed you How are the bodies feeling ladies? Each week we will endeavor to being a a few lines from the game so here goes ... Port vs Barossa 5 to 36 port women proud to join the RUSA womens competition for the first time in over 10 years. Learnt a lot in the past few months to get to their first match. Lots of amazing memories to be made on and off the pitch Onkas vs Old Cols 44 to 0 Our (Onkas) first hit out for the year felt good! Lining up against a relatively young Old Cols side proved anything but easy. A game played with great community rugby spirit, with our players putting their hand up, assisting old collegians with numbers, so everyone could have a run. It was a great chance to work on our structure in both attack and defence. The game left us excited and looking forward to the rest of the season Woodies vs Souths 13 to 46 The game Woodville v South was a good display of physical play by both sides. Woodville has definitely showed improvement in all areas. Souths young squad and fresh blood to the team showed determination with signs that each week the new combination will further develop. The game was played in good spirits and both teams were happy to be back on the pitch. Burnside vs Brighton 19 to 22 A close encounter with Burnside put on the back foot with an early try, many new faces in this trial game who no doubt will learn from their more experienced team mates. Some great skill shown from both teams and no doubt this match up will be a great display in Round 4 Round 2 for points next week sees Port head to Souths, Woodville host Uni, Onkas southern clash with Brighton and Burnside host Old Cols, with Barossa and Elizabeth finishing off our games this weekend. Welcome back Port and Old Cols Rugby yay
02.01.2022 Well done Tia! Can’t wait to see you playing in the seniors in the future.
01.01.2022 Round 13 Ridiculously late sorry all Onkaparinga 57 to Southern Suburbs 0... Firstly would like to point out that the score didn’t reflect the game whatsoever. South's were very competitive. Their slide defence and strong ball carries helped them progress up the field, just unfortunately weren’t able to convert anything into points. Onkaparinga got the lead early in the game and capitalised on an overlap over South's. With some individual brilliance, Ella Christie came away for 4 tries on her own show casing she’s one of the fastest players in the competition. Mug winner for the day Vron Wah Day who played an outstanding match. With results over the weekend, it saw Onkaparinga take out minor premiers for 2020. Barossa 5 to Woodville 54 Burnside 49 to Port Adelaide 0 The Burnside Bunnies vs Port Adelaide Pirates was a physical and unrelenting game played in warm, sunny, September weather. Both teams put on a competitive game with the first try passing through the hands of several Bunnies to break Port's defensive line and be finished by the speedy Emma Pinnear. This saw Burnside get into rythm and dominate the scoreboard with tries from several players including Angel Kelly and Ana Cvetanovic who scored their debut tries for the season. The Bunnies were dominant in scrums and Port displayed some great line out plays. The Bunnies had excellent team connectivity in both attack and defence which required many newer players to lift given an unlucky run with several strong players injured and out of the game. Although Port struggled to score they persevered through the game with fierce determination and their heads held high. The match was played in great spirit. It's fantastic to see the Port Adelaide Pirates Women’s team developing into an effective, formidable and fun loving team. Ultimately the Burnside Bunnies stole the match thanks to their ability to work as a team, their go forward and excellent catch/pass. Brighton 25 to Old Collegians 26 The game was hard fought from the on set with plenty of skills on display from both sides. The only deviation from the above was uncontested scrums forcing OC to play with 14 players OC played the conditions better utilising the uncontested scrums to their advantage. Some contentious decisions didn't fall Brighton's way allowing OC to snap up the win Finals are going to be interesting with results this weekend to define the top 4. Rugby on my word yeeesssssss
01.01.2022 Another flash back photo. RUSA has this recorded as 1997 but with some of the faces Im putting it at 2001? Anyone remember that far back

01.01.2022 Round 12 Southern Suburbs 17 to Brighton 43 The heat did not effect this tough effort by both teams, if so it was well hidden. It was a hard hitting game within the forwards and the backs were able to create a few breaks but both teams were equal to the defence. Both teams achieved tries in the first half by hard work and determination. Jess Hinds And Bree Nathan displayed their big runs and coming back from giving births, I believe 3 weeks ago, TK definitely showed her abili...ty. Souths pocket rocket Sam showed her experience, speed and tackling ability throughout the whole game. Sarah Hunter made her usual hard hitting runs and Tamikha saved several tries by her amazing ability to run down players. Brighton ended up winning while the score was not a reflection on how close the game really was. Woodville 19 to Burnside 12 This week was must win game for Woodville against Burnside. With the extra incentive to win for the coaches birthday the Woodies girls took the field switched on from the first whistle. The game was very even through the first 20 mins testing both teams fitness. Burnside finally broke through to score first. Both teams went onto score before half time with Burnside in the lead 12-7. The second half was a fairly even contest again with both teams showing strong defence and hard running. Woodville had the wind behind them and an overlap due to a couple of injuries to Burnside. Woodville managed to score 2 more tries before the final whistle pulling off a much needed win Adelaide University 54 to Barossa 7 The Uni v Barossa fixture was played at Waite Oval as part of Unis Indigenous Round, with the Uni team proudly wearing jerseys designed by Darren Williams, brother of DJ Williams who plays in the University premier mens team. Barossa were missing some players, so Uni loaned a few to make up the numbers, but sadly the scrums had to be uncontested. Barossa are a staunch squad and kept the Uni forwards on their toes, but the pacey University backs were hard to catch once theyd broken the line, and all tries were scored by outside backs, Alice Gregory, Claire Ferguson, Hannah Elliott, and - in the highlight of the game - Takako Kato scoring her first ever. Thanks to both team for a hard fought game played in good spirits and in too hot conditions! Old Collegians 0 forfeit to Onkaparinga 28 Thanks again reporters, this season will down to the wire to sort out the top 4, stay tuned rugby friends
