25.01.2022 It's going to be a warm one here in South Australia today so why not sit by the air con and take a squiz at our revamped website thanks to Scott @litepostau We hope to continue to add a lot more educational content to our website down the track because there is soooo much to learn when you are thinking about building in any capacity. For us it's more than just the finished building product, it's teaching you all about the best process for your build that also drives u...s, no matter what you build or who you build with. If we can leave a positive footprint on the building industry then we are happy campers. Here's a little tip...designing a house solely with a designer, then getting full development approval and then finally sending out your plans to 5 builders to tender isn't likely to have a happy ending. As we always say Building is a team game and you need to have all the players working together at the start...and you should win every time! See more

25.01.2022 Holidays on @authentickangarooisland has had a great start! Nothing better than getting out exploring the world around us. We are truly blessed to have a great place like KI to explore. A very informative tour thanks to @kangarooislandoutdooraction along with the kids riding an ATV for the first time. (First question from the kids after the tour was, ‘can we get one of these?’ )... Then off to see a ‘raptor’ show at @raptor_domain. The birds are the real performers and are really amazing! Totally loving spending quality time as a family. #kangarooisland #holidays #family #barossa #builder

25.01.2022 New Home Progress - We love sharing a new home and it's been all go at this beautiful home in the Mid North. The steel frames are nearly completed, windows to be delivered any day now, first fix plumbing is happening and cladding/ roofing and joinery check measures scheduled too. Scheduling is such a major component of building a new house. It takes hours and is constantly revised...and at the moment that is almost daily!... To be honest it's taken some time over the years to get the perfect combination of time allowed for each component to happen without there being too many people on site or too bigger gap all while keeping our trades and employees up to date with scheduling delays beyond our control that occur - throw in a Covid lockdown here and a Covid related material supply delay there, it all makes for an interesting time.... but we wouldn't have it any other way, what else would we think about at 2am! Stay tuned for some Western Red Cedar & Monument Europlus cladding on this beauty. See more

24.01.2022 It’s been a big year and it’s now time to take a break! See you all back on deck in the New Year. . . . .... . . #builderbarossa #builder #newhomes #renovations #custombuilt #christmas #newyear #barossa #relax #rejuvenate #familytime See more

23.01.2022 Colour Trends I love looking through our client’s selections and this year in particular we have consistently seen our clients wanting to work with a grey colour pallet. The grey really lends itself to both modern and more traditional interiors. We are seeing it paired with matt black tapware, some concrete elements and finishing off with timber to soften the feel and give it warmth.... If anyone had been to our house they will know that I’m not very daring and it’s pretty much white on whitewith a hint of white. So we really enjoy watching our client’s design choices come to life during construction to create their home or renovation. Here’s a snippet of one of our recently completed kitchens with a grey colour pallet. See more

22.01.2022 Site update: As per the recent government announcement, Saxony Building will stop all site work until advised otherwise. Big thanks to all of our employees and clients for being so understanding and flexible at such short notice. Like many businesses, the lead up to Christmas on a normal year is insane and this year is proving to be next level!!... We will still be in the office as usual, hopefully with minimal home schooling on the side! Stay safe and we'll be back before we know it.

18.01.2022 Create a grand feeling without the price tag Sometimes you walk into a home and it just feels large and spacious. We’ll talk through a couple of ways to give your home this feel without increasing the floor space. Let’s start with ceiling heights, years ago 2400mm ceiling height was pretty standard in most homes, if you walk into a home with this ceiling height it will feel pretty low. As a standard we now build with ceiling heights that are 2700mm and if you are after ...something a bit grander 3000mm and even 3300mm are an option and this replicates the heights of the grand, period buildings. Vaulted and raked ceilings also create height and interest too. Larger door openings are being a way to create a feeling of space for not much additional cost. A standard door opening is 2040mm high and you can increase this to 2340mm. It’s not initially obvious to visitors that the openings are larger, it gives a larger feel without being intrusive. The size or your skirting boards and architraves also impacts the feel of your space. Place larger profiles in a space that has high ceilings and doorways will again add the feeling of space. It’s all in the details that collectively make your home feel larger without adding footprint. #barossabuilder #saxonybuilding #renovation #extension #designandconstruct #newhome #barossa

17.01.2022 Happy New Year! We look forward to the coming year and continuing to create homes that bring families and friends together. We hope that 2021 is a year filled with much love, health and happiness for all our clients, suppliers, contractors and staff. ... #builder #barossa #happynewyear #newyear #2021 #family #friends #newhomes #renovations

15.01.2022 I'm just working on a bathroom layout that requires a shower, bath, vanity & toilet all in the one room and it's getting a bit tight. We have some flexibility with the shape of the room so I thought I'd share a quick design tip with you- rectangular bathrooms are easier to work with and use the space more effectively, a square bathroom will leave you with little wall space to fit everything in and a lot of wasted floor space in the middle.

12.01.2022 It's the end of another Father's day, we hope everyone had a great day. We had a lovely day hiking in the hills, just enjoying spending time together. Big thanks to all the Dads, they often sacrifice one of the most important gifts...time. ... We hope you got to spend time with your loved ones today.

11.01.2022 Kitchen Chat Haven't our kitchens evolved over the years? Take a trip down memory lane and think about the kitchen that was in the house that you grew up in. So many nostalgic memories! Our was a smallish room with L- shaped, timber cabinetry and a dining table in the middle complete with peached coloured chairs...and everyone had their spot at the table!... Our kitchens are turning into a one size fits all when we think about how we use them. If you have been watching The Block you will have noticed that island benches are becoming both a food preparation area as well a designated dining/socialising area. Our island bench at home is a hub of activity and now we are creating memories of our own in this kitchen. Every morning it's a breakfast station and by Friday morning it becomes a last minute homework station! Early Monday mornings it becomes our meeting point to plan the week ahead and on weekends the nibbles platter and drinks come out to share with friends and family. We'd love to hear your kitchen memories, feel free the share them below.

10.01.2022 [New Project] We’ve just started standing up the steel wall frames on a new custom built home in the mid north. Here’s a look back at the earthworks, footings, slab and structural steel. Has been a great start to this exciting project and we can’t wait for it take shape in the coming days. 06.01.2022 If you've been on one of our sites lately you may have seen Luke in his new TradeMutt shirt. One of his first outings was to pick the kids up from school...and the shirt did it's job - it was definitely a 'conversation starter' with the kids...even if it started along the lines of 'Dad, what are you wearing!!??' So the TradeMutt shirt is now on a journey around the building sites of the Barossa in the hope that it will start the conversation about mental health but not only ...mental health, just chatting in general -how's your day, how's your week, how's your family, why are you wearing that weird shirt!? Let's be honest, life can be busy. Work and family can be hectic. We don't feel we have time to chat. Take the time, make the time. You'll feel better. So if you see that TradeMutt shirt in your travels, stop and chat. Share the wins, share the loses.

06.01.2022 Here’s a quick walk through of our new home project nearing completion at Cockatoo Valley. * Tiling completed. * Joinery installed. * Electrical fit off completed.... * Painting started. Not long now until our client will be in a brand new home!

05.01.2022 Talking about ‘budget’ when it comes to building isn’t the most exciting. I’m sure you’d rather discuss the nice tapware you’ll put in your bathroom or the type of stone benchtops for your kitchen. But for us it’s a really important discussion which needs to be had, to give you the best home you could wish for. For us knowing where your budget is and what’s included in that budget helps us give you the most accurate information for your project. Listen more here where Luke explains the key reasons behind discussing your budget early on in the preliminary stage.

05.01.2022 As they say 'Team work makes the dream work' and we are really grateful to have Liam or 'Peely' as he is more commonly known as, on our team. AND...tonight Peely and Luke are heading to the Murraylands Training and Employment awards because Liam has been nominated for the @mtesa employee awards 2020. He actually finished his carpentry apprenticeship a while ago but due to old mate Rona it has meant we've had to wait for the awards night. ... Liam is an amazing carpenter, giving our business the perfect skillset of building with timber and steel. He's a dedicated employee so much so that on nearly every job we work on the owners always comment on how punctual and dedicated he is. He's a top lad and a good sport - even getting in front of the camera for some site pics! Good luck tonight Liam See more

02.01.2022 As a builder you are always looking at the details of all buildings new and old. You come to appreciate the amount of blood, sweat and tears that go into every building. Even when you’re on holidays your eye gets drawn to the finest of details. This selection of photos are of some old buildings on @authentickangarooisland in the Flinders Chase National Park. ... They’re in a remote part of the island and to me that’s what stands out. The amount of time, effort and planning to build these is truly remarkable and I take my hat off to the pioneers who have gone before us. The character of these buildings is quite something. The way they sit effortlessly into the landscape beyond is something to just take a minute and admire. Enjoy! #kangarooisland #barossa #builder #barossabuilder #flinderschasenationalpark #pioneer #admiration #amazing #weirscove #capeducoudeiclighthouse
