23.01.2022 RINK NEWS: AMENDED DA on public exhibition! The City of Ryde has published details and documents on The Herring Road Corner Podium, which includes a brand new Olympic-sized ice rink. To view the concept plans, click this link: https://www.ryde.nsw.gov.au//Development-Applications-on-E... We anticipated a few FAQs once the DA was made available, so here they are! == Q: Will the new ice rink have glass on the boards/barriers? A: Details such as the boards/barriers will be part of the detailed design process. (The amended DA is high level design). However, AMP Capital said this has been raised by all clubs, and it’s their intention to include if they can. Q: Why do the concepts show exterior glass for natural light? A: The glass windows in the existing rink has been identified by Ryde Council as an important heritage element. AMP Capital has balanced this against the need to minimise natural light and heat load on the ice surface and rink premises. Q: Any indication on construction timeline and disruption to the current ice rink? A: - AMP Capital is hopeful the amended development application will be approved in 2021, beyond that they can’t give any definitive dates This is a major project and big projects take a while. - AMP Capital is confident this location gives the best opportunity to transition from the old rink to the new with the least disruption. - In the event there is any planned downtime, SBIHC will be given advance notice by AMP Capital - We will enact plans in place and we will inform all members of a timeline in dealing with a downtime event. Q: What can I do to provide any feedback I have about the project? A: Please visit the following link https://www.ryde.nsw.gov.au//Development-Applications-on-E to view amended DA proposal and documents, and to submit your feedback about the project. Feedback needs to be communicated to the City of Ryde by 4th November. == Make sure you provide your feedback to City of Ryde by 4th November!
