17.01.2022 One of the most common questions I get asked is ‘what sort of work keeps a bookbinder employed?’ My answer would be ‘extremely varied’ Here is a small snapshot of my work this week. A small bible rebind. An old signature book circa 1904 restored. A leather journal with ‘three’ embossed on the bottom to be gifted as a third year wedding anniversary.... Another journal embossed with a school crest to be used as a register for its distinguished scholars. A leather photo album with some embossed initials. 15.01.2022 Nothing like a challenge! The brief for creating this box was to use a vinyl like material reflecting the covering materials used for upholstery work in 80’s and 90’s Holdens. The embossing fonts are also the fonts used for the car badging of that era. The internal compartments are to house certificates and also a small book which is to hold chassis vin plates.
