22.01.2022 "If 2020 has taught us one thing, it is that carrying debt in a small business can leave you exposed and at your bank’s mercy when there is a major economic downturn. In the wake of the Banking Royal Commission, traditional financing methods have become difficult for small trade business owners to explore. Lengthy application processes, strict credit history review guidelines and tough approval criteria are now the new norm. Traditional methods, like finance and leasing your ...trade business fleet are becoming less and less attractive for tradies." https://insidesmallbusiness.com.au//why-tradies-are-hiring

Bricks and mortar stores have seen a huge decline in passing traffic due to social distancing, border closures and a move to working from home. Small businesses can benefit from video and photo content that actively seeks to understand where and how their customers are shopping in 2020. Use content to advertise product that are in stock, notify customers of a new online service such as free delivery.''

17.01.2022 C'mon guys! :) Let us support small farm owners so that we can have real food on our tables! :) Fairytale eggplant, Turk’s turban pumpkin and a cucumber so intergalactic-looking that it’s appeared in Star Trek and Star Wars movies: they’re the kind of striking items you won’t see in a supermarket, but you might find them in the veggie box offered by Roly Poly Farm, 90 minutes south of Perth. Farmers Declan McGill and Melissa Charlick sell their produce boxes through the com...munity-supported agriculture (CSA) model, where customers buy directly from the farmer paying money upfront or over several instalments to finance the upcoming growing season. It’s like having shares in a local farm, and your dividend is a regular box of freshly-picked vegetables, rainbow-bright with yellow zucchinis, cherry medley tomatoes, watermelon radishes or whatever happens to be growing in the dirt right now. It’s an investment in the farmer that also protects them from unpredictable climates and nature’s volatility. The upfront support not only gave us the financial backing to begin farming two-and-a-half-years ago, but continues to give us the security to keep on farming, says Charlick.

10.01.2022 ''As the COVID-19 shutdown saw employees in their tens of thousands decamp from their workplaces, it was digital technology mobile devices, video conferencing and cooperative working applications that allowed them to work from home, mitigating for many the economic impact of the crisis. One notable finding from this switch, Smith says, was that companies with cloud computing models typically fared better than enterprises running on-premises data centres and solutions. Fol...lowing on from that, studying how technology can support remote working in your business should be a priority, Smith says. Companies need to continue to make investments in ICT infrastructure that enables their operations to be as agile and flexible as possible. https://www.smartcompany.com.au//your-new-business-plan-/

08.01.2022 ''Woolworths Group has committed to helping refugees to find work by integrating them into their core operations, becoming the first Australian business to sign up to the international Tent Partnership for Refugees. As a member, Woolworths will be able to learn from other businesses in the partnership, and will be able to expand on its successful Refugee Employment program which has placed over 150 refugees in positions across its supermarkets, Metro stores and fulfilment centres since 2016.''

07.01.2022 "On Tuesday, China's Customs Department said it would tighten import supervision of Australian exports. Coal is the latest export to be caught up in trade tensions between Australia and its biggest trading, China. China has imposed trade duties on Australian barley and beef exports and wine exports are now also the subject of an anti-dumping investigation."... https://www.abc.net.au//bhp-deferment-confirms-ch/12768004

07.01.2022 You need to proofread your application carefully. As you write it your application, you need to have your audience in mind. Will the person reading and assessing understand industry jargon? If not, take it out and put in more accessible language.... https://www.smartcompany.com.au//applying-for-grants-advi/

05.01.2022 ''Tuesday night’s Federal Budget included a $4.26 million commitment to rolling out a new mental health program for small-business owners a timely initiative in light of the fact that next week is World Mental Health Week. Leading mental health organisation Beyond Blue will deliver the NewAccess for Small Business service, that will give small-business owners access to up to six free one-on-one telehealth sessions with specially trained mental health coaches who will advise... them on managing stress and anxiety. Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO), Kate Carnell, has welcomed the setting up of the service that is expected to be up and running in early 2021.'' https://lnkd.in/gabFkbC
