24.01.2022 #LIFESAVING // If you're heading to the coast this weekend to cool off, please swim at a patrolled location between the red and yellow flags and wear a lifejack...et if rock fishing or boating. At the end of a great day on the beach, we want everyone to go home to their families. Swimming between the flags is the simplest step you can take to ensuring that happens, said SLSNSW Director of Lifesaving Joel Wiseman. Visit the Beachsafe website or download the app to find your nearest patrolled location: http://bit.ly/SLSBeachSafe

19.01.2022 Check out what used to be our little nippers become SRC & BRONZE proficient.

19.01.2022 Congratulations to Leanne Johnson Leanne Johnson was awarded a very well deserved Hunter SLSC volunteer of the year. Leanne Johnson joined SBSLSC in 2006 as a Nipper Parent & has been an integral member of our club over these past years joining our Fundraising & carnival Entry teams every year & in 2019 took on our club role as Director of Surf Sports. ... Leanne has held this role during the 20/21 season along with entering all U15 - Open competitors for all carnivals around NSW & Australia. She gained her Bronze Medallion 5 years ago & is a member of Patrol 11 & has completed 57 hours this past season. She is on our Club Board of Directors & attends regular meetings each month. She also sits on our Competition Selection panel. Leanne is the chief organiser of our club gear trailers travelling to carnivals up & down the East coast & thru her dedication ensures that there is parents to tow the trailers, pack the craft, scrutineer craft, arrange beach set up of club tents, team dinners & competitor recovery sessions, always putting the athletes welfare first. Over the past 5 years hosting State Championships she has gone over & above everything stated above & was at the beach each day to take on a position in our Workforce BBQ team. This amounts to 52 days of competition! She has been able to deliver the reasoning in a professional manner to these parents & involve the coaches with their thoughts when required. She has guided our strong competitive teams throughout the past 2 years which has formed a rebuilding program within the ranks of our teams encouraging younger kids to start training for other events to improve their strength, stamina & overall fitness which leads to better performances in competition. You could not put a dollar value on the voluntary time she puts in as a single mother who works full time & places others before her own needs. Love your work Leanne. So lucky to have you.
