24.01.2022 Over the next few weeks Anita Baills of Natures Forge will be conducting a series of workshops in our SCAG studio. Her sessions are varied including wire wrap earrings, working with resin, jewellery and pressed metal. For further info and how to book the workshops go to our SCAG events tab for details. Anita is a mixed media jewellery artisan. She specialises in real butterfly, insect and reptile jewellery and homewares as well as whimsical wearable art pieces(all-natural... components are ethically and legally sourced and cruelty free). With over 11 years of jewellery making experience and skill development, she has won a number of national and international design challenges. She has conducted workshops at Cobb and Co Museum for a number of years, for both adults and teens, as one of their artisans and has run workshops for a number of other local and regional events including Woodford Folk Festival, the Planting Festival and Arts retreat weekends. As well as this she was also commissioned to run costume workshops for the 2018 Carnival of Flowers parade participants.

22.01.2022 The SCAG pottery studio is closed but our intrepid Pottery leader, Deb has been very busy ensuring that our members ISO creations are being fired. Filling and unloading the SCAG kiln several times a week! Sending a big THANK YOU to Deb!!

20.01.2022 The Sunshine Coast Art Group - Pottery may be CLOSED, but our potters are busy practising isolation pottery by making soup bowls. Our annual Soup n Soul Day in July has been put on hold, but that does not deter the enthusiastic potters. We usually make about 120-150 soup bowls and sell them filled with beautiful home made soups. Thats the Soup, the Soul is played by the music section of our Group. 19.01.2022 Sunshine Coast Art Groups Soup & Soul exhibition is over for another year. The exhibition bought many, many people to our Studios. All looking while taking in the wonder of the hand-crafted items on display, created by our very talented members. While wandering through both Studios, at a leisurely pace, all were looking at and checking every piece carefully, for that special item/s that would be perfect for their own home.... Paintings, Pottery, sewing every item has its own story to tell, that the creator has etched into it as the piece took shape. Many of our visitors rested at our popup cafe, relaxing while enjoying a cuppa with a delicacy or two, others indulged with homemade soup in the hand-crafted soup bowl and holder of their choice, others sat and enjoyed the live entertainment supply by Live Junction. Excellent music is what Bill and Ted would say. Outside our members were demonstrating their craft. All those who watched them were enthralled, as the creating took shape. The whole day was one amazing thing after another and finished all too soon.

15.01.2022 Expression of Interest Wanted - Self Help Painting Group on Fridays at 6pm Currently our Painting group has sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9am till 12 noon. ... We know that there are budding artists out there who cannot attend day painting groups, for one reason or another, and we are keen to offer a time slot on Friday evenings starting at 6pm possibly to 8.30-9pm. If we have sufficient numbers the sessions would start in the New Year. These self help sessions are for all painting mediums. So whether you are interested in using acrylic, water colour, oil medium, pastels, or mixed medium you are welcome. As they are self help sessions there is no formal tutoring but our experienced artists are happy to assist the new comers. So sessions are open to the new and the experienced to explore the endless possibilities of what can be achieved through creativity. If you are interested in attending the proposed Friday sessions (or the existing Tues or Wed) please email - [email protected] to register your interest. Sunshine Coast Art Group are planning to GRADUALLY start re-opening from the 12th June ** Under the COVID restrictions we are only allowed limited numbers in the building so not all sessions and classes will be available initially. As the COVID restrictions are eased and we are allowed to have more people in the building we will expand the sessions available. Any SCAG members who have queries please contact your group leader for further info. ... As the situation unfolds and things become clearer we will post further information. 06.01.2022 Fascinating workshop at our SCAG Pottery Studio yesterday. We created many different texture boards and latex moulds for use with clay. There were no limits to the mediums we used builders foam, tilers wall and floor adhesive, water putty, sand.. plus I never knew there were so many uses for PVA glue. We all made our own latex moulds using anything we could find shells, buttons, string, leaves, etc. Still waiting for them to dry and unveil our textured masterpieces. T...hanks Carol, for so generously sharing all your wonderful knowledge and skills! A great day enjoyed by all and thanks to Deb for organising. Carol Forster is a Ceramic Artist based in Buderim. She produces a range of functional and sculptural pieces for galleries, retail stores, corporate gifts and private collections. 06.01.2022 The Artists dirtied the Studio today with a session on "Dirty Pour". This is an interesting method of having a lot of fun, getting dirty whilst creating something. The something part is up to the individual you have to have an imagination. Here are a few of what was achieved at this mornings session.

06.01.2022 Wow! What a fabulous day. The sun was shining, our band Live Junction was playing relaxing vibes while people were enjoying great soups and sweet treats under umbrellas. We had artisans demonstrating their skills, a chance to learn to draw, fantastic exhibition of our unique pottery, art works and sewing. Plus lots of wonderful purchases were made and irreplaceable pieces found new homes. And yes there were lots of bargains to be found! Thank you to all that made our ...Soup n Soul Exhibition & Art Market such a great success. We had people queued at the doors before we opened and had sold out of our handmade soup bowls by 12 noon all 170 of them!!!!! Apologies to those that missed out on their soup and bowls and thank you for your understanding. Our thanks also go to the amazing team at SCAG who put this event together and worked sooo hard too many to mention thank you! Our Soup n Soul event is an annual fundraiser with the proceeds going to fund the clubs ongoing expenses. We will be holding our next fundraiser on November, 14th Spring into Summer watch out for details. We look forward to seeing you next year at Soup n Soul . And yes we do plan to have more bowls! 05.01.2022 While we have all been in ISO at home our SCAG studios garden has had a bit of a face lift! A new retaining wall and steps have been installed. All sparking and new and just waiting for us to return.
