22.01.2022 Around 40x SCARAB Car Club Members in 20+ classic cars headed to WINTERSUN 2.0 in Murwillumbah NSW at the weekend. Congratulations to Members John & Elaine Muncer took a TOP TEN place in their FORD GT-40, while Ms Jo Buckley won first prize in the BEST (RETRO) DRESSED comp!

17.01.2022 SCARAB Car Club Members (and others) are annoyed at the excessive price rises to Show & Shine at "Cooly Rocks On" this year. Around DOUBLE last years entry fee...s! It seems that the perception of Classic Car owners is that they have heaps of money: They are happy to PAY to display their pride & joy as FREE entertainment. These Entrants are effectively paying bands as the FREE entertainment to the public who enter the Festival for FREE. It appears that with demand typically greater than spaces CRO thinks we will keep coming, despite increasing costs. I suggest that the Festival would not be the same, if the Classic Cars were not on Display? Who would come to see a few bands playing on street corners? I wonder if traders in Coolangatta/Tweed are aware that their Festival may be in jeopardy? To park in the same place at CRO this year as we did last year (in Marine Pde, street-side), we must pay: $70 + Early booking premium + booking fee + GST Total: ~$111.00! (Add another $10+ on the beach-side of Marine Pde!) And this is on top of the exorbitant, ever increasing accommodation costs, and (FREE but) less entertainment. I personally have attended CRO-W/S for 20+ years, have sat on Car Committees for both. I am now totally disillusioned. Last year, after several very stressful (ultimately successful) attempts to book nearly 40x spaces for Members cars, 6x SCARAB CC Members arrived on-site early Saturday morning to discover there was NO parking space available for their cars! CRO VERY RELUCTANTLY refunded only four Members.This year, again around 40 Members initially planned to book. That number has now dropped to less than 25! Every year, we hope things will improve, as we want to be there, but sadly it just gets worse. Many are looking into alternate Festivals for next year. See more
