24.01.2022 In 2005, Scarab Studio Wood and REB Design were commissioned by the WA Government to collaborate on the design and production of a prestigious timber gift to be presented by Premier Geoff Gallop, at the World Expo Aichi, Japan. The gift-giving experience from a Japanese cultural perspective informed the design process, and we developed an innovative hybrid technology to make the tightly curved forms in Jarrah and Blackbutt veneer. We can curate unique gifts you could ever possibly imagine to be able to curate special moments for whichever occasion you desire.

23.01.2022 What do you see? Inspiration, Creativity and Innovation is what we see!

17.01.2022 Weve worked on a variety of interesting projects. This wonderful pair of fairy-tale doors are installed in Natures Atelier early learning centre. With creativity and art a central learning theme at the Atelier, we were asked to weave our artistic magic around what would be the main gateway between the central inside gathering space and a large outdoor sculpture garden.

17.01.2022 We are incredibly privileged to work within the old hallowed walls of the Midland Railway Workshops.

15.01.2022 We have been busy in the studio working on a couple of different projects in the studio recently. One of those is a very interesting Wine Rack. Heres Jordan working on some Marri panels for a new wine rack

15.01.2022 Creativity is the artisans life-blood. Inspiration can come from so many varied landscapes of the outer world and the inner. Peter Cook has followed broad creative passions from his earliest years. Always exploring, Peter is recognized today as one of Australias finest artist-designer-makers. Peters art has been exhibited internationally and published in several books and magazines.

14.01.2022 From our exclusive giftware range - our lovely Little River box is crafted from a mix of Jarrah and Sheoak with inlays of Banksia and Blackbutt. The Little River alludes to the precious nature of water in a land dominated by desert. Have a special occasion or someone you want to spoil. Our gift range is perfect.

14.01.2022 Whilst our new Puzzlebox in development has taken great strides forward over the last couple of months, it has often felt like peeling off the layers of an onion. Design challenges keep emerging... and on occasion, a tear is shed! If only we could make wood grow into the shapes we need. Within such a crazy idea hides the gold. Our experimental mixing of original and rarefied techniques - each invented for different reasons over the years - has revealed an unprecedented and ...fantastic breakthrough... Like Alchemy for Wood, we have now learned to re-engineer the micro-structure of Jarrah and bend it into curves tight enough to fit around your finger - all the more fitting for something you will hold in your hands. This is the exciting cutting edge of design and craftsmanship, and its where we thrive! - Pete

13.01.2022 Did you know Pete designs each and every piece he uses inside of his puzzlebox. Everything is specifically curated and developed from Petes studio. There is more thought, processes and development that goes into each piece of work than you could ever believe.

12.01.2022 There are two elements which go into creating the amazing Scarab Studio Wood designs. 1. Design - Design is a fundamental ingredient, and the basis of timeless value in the projects we develop at Scarab. Pete can spend hundreds of hours designing some of the more complex projects such as his famous puzzleboxes. 2. Creation - Bringing the project to life. This is when all of the design, making skills and magic come together to bring to life our amazing ideas.
