23.01.2022 Our club is a finalist for Lavan Club of the Year at this year’s @slswa Awards of Excellence! At Scarboro SLSC our Club’s purpose is to cultivate and develop an active and healthy community to generate better and more resilient people through surf life-saving. To do this we focus on three key areas: saving lives, developing our members and being a sustainable club. We achieved this in 2019/20 by bringing 68 new lifesavers onto patrols, delivering 97 advanced skills awards, br...ought new equipment onto patrol, rolled out the Starfish Nippers program for children with additional needs, sent our members on development camps with SLSWA, upgraded the skills of our trainers & assessors, achieved targeted membership growth in our Juniors and Active Patrolling members, refreshed and updated our Club structure, increased our member social activities, and provided an array of volunteering opportunities for our members to be involved in. Our Club continues to look to the future as we head towards Aussies returning to WA in 2022 and out 100th anniversary in 2028. We are extremely proud to be a finalist for Lavan Club of the Year at the #2020aoe @ Scarborough, Western Australia See more

22.01.2022 Pictured here are brothers Ken & Colin Vidler who are Scarboro SLSC legends, along with the rest of the Vidler family. The Vidlers were renowned in WA Surf Life Saving, but Ken reached heights that no other WA surf lifesaver has been able to achieve. Ken won the Australian Junior Ironman titles in 1971 and 1972, he also took out the Junior Single Ski title in 1972. As a senior competitor, he won three Australian Ironman titles and four National Ski titles. He completed an... amazing Australian Ironman and Single Ski double at Clifton Beach, Tasmania in 1976. Ken also won four Australian Double Ski titles with Colin and five Surf Ski Relay titles, two with Colin and Jeff, another one of the Vidler brothers. In all, he won ten Australian individual titles and nine team titles. He also represented Australia five times in International Surf Life Saving Championships. At State level Ken won an astounding 29 Individual titles, including eight successive Ironman titles. In 2000, Ken’s achievements were recognised by the club and he was awarded a Life Membership, our highest honour. In May 2012, Ken Vidler, was one of the inaugural Legends of the Surf and inducted into Surf Life Saving Western Australia’s Hall of Fame. #surflifesaving #halloffame #ski See more

14.01.2022 Scarborough Beach Sunday October 13th, 1991 360 people rescued, no lives lost This photo was taken after a mammoth day on the beach for Scarboro SLSC volunteer lifesavers at the start of the 1991 Patrol season. On this warm October Sunday, deep gutters and a surging swell caught beach goers by surprise, sweeping members of the public out to sea in strong rip currents. ... If it weren’t for the efforts of the lifesavers on that day the situation would have been a lot worse for all involved. This is one of many major rescue days that Scarboro SLSC has been apart of in our 92 year history. Scarboro SLSC has a strong patrol and surf sports tradition, something we will look to keep going strong in the 2020/21 season when it kicks off very soon. #lifesaving #rescue #volunteer #scarboroughbeach See more

04.01.2022 Coming Soon.......

04.01.2022 Our club is also a finalist for Patrol Club of the Year at this year’s @slswa Awards of Excellence! This season Scarboro SLSC volunteer lifesavers had one of the busiest season in the last couple of years, conducting an astounding 190 rescues, 5,576 preventative actions, 262 first aid’s and looked after an estimated 131 678 beachgoers along our 2.5km of patrolled coastline! These efforts resulted in out 16 patrol teams conducting in excess on 9000 patrol hours, an amazing eff...ort by the Scarboro SLSC lifesavers. Among other achievements, our Beach Operations Committee and Patrol Captains identified that after the Scarborough Foreshore Redevelopment was completed we were seeing a more sporadic placement of beachgoers along the beach towards North Scarborough. This resulted in our lifesavers conducting more regular roving patrols and utilising the scarborough central tower to provide an excellent vantage point for our lifesavers to spot any beachgoers in danger. Our club would not be what it is today without the tireless efforts of each and every volunteer who contributes to our club and patrol operations, not only in the 2019/20 season but also in the many seasons gone by. We are extremely excited to be a finalist for Patrol Club of the Year at the #2020aoe See more
