19.01.2022 Scarborough Sharks is committed to the health of our members and would like everyone to be aware of the following information provided by Basketball Western Australia. TO OUR PARTICIPANTS: COVID-19 is transmitted from person to person, usually when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Transmission may occur from contaminated surfaces, so it is important to frequently wash your hands.... To protect yourself and others from infection practice good hand and respiratory hygiene including: cleaning hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rubs regularly; covering your nose and mouth with a tissue or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing; to avoid additional contact we suggest teams don’t shake hands after games until the risk subsides; do not share water bottles or other items that require personal contact; do not share food containers between team members; avoiding contact with anyone who has symptoms such as fever, a cough, sore throat, fatigue, and shortness of breath; staying home if you are unwell. If you are feeling unwell, please see your doctor immediately. Before your appointment, please call ahead and advise of your symptoms and recent travel so necessary precautions can be undertaken. Any participants who have been in contact with a person with confirmed COVID-19 case must not attend any training sessions, games, trials, events or other activities conducted by BWA or any affiliated BWA Associations or Clubs until 14 days after exposure to the infected individual, providing they do not show Coronavirus symptoms.

05.01.2022 Further information regarding our domestic competition.

05.01.2022 To all our valued members We hope you are keeping well and safe and coping with home schooling! For a bit of basketball practice also check out the Hawks Facebook page or the Homecourt App. During these unprecedented times, we are understandably all new to a situation like this and while we as an entire community are unsure as to when we can expect life to return to normal - we are still hopeful that our basketball community can run some form of competition and the Sharks loo...k forward to this as one of the lights at the end of the tunnel. As we had completed our registration process before all the social distancing measures came into place we are fortunate that when the restrictions are lifted, our players are already allocated into teams, all those teams have coaches and we have a training facility & a great committee to support all of this. On top of this, Hawks basketball will have the competition ready to go. All of this means we will be able to hit the ground running, which I'm sure is what all our players will be greatly looking forward to. So please be patient with this, as neither BWA, Hawks or the Sharks have any control over this and we appreciate your understanding. Keeping that structure in place for the moment is vital to the Sharks but as a club we understand that families may be experiencing financial hardship during these uncertain times and may be unable to wait. If that is the case, please contact our Treasurer Claire via email [email protected] to discuss any membership refunds. Take Care, Anthony Collis On behalf of the SJBC Committee
