01.01.2022 So... It is mid year already. Better get off my dot and start sending through some of the things you guys have asked for. Ask a naturopath ... Ask what? Chat online or when you visit so I've got things to share! First week is on me... Q: What is a naturopath? A: A naturopath is a practitioner that uses plants (herbal remedies and as foodstuffs), foods, minerals and vitamins to assist the body in healing itself and returning to balanced health. They are usually (hopefully!) trained in other modalities too such as iridology, massage and acupuncture. Q: How? A: We believe that the body can remain in a reasonably balanced state for its whole life =Health . Various lifestyle choices -that are fun- but no good for you, stress, toxicities, pathogens and genetic inheritances may upset this balance. Illness occurs and balance must be returned by removing the initial trigger and giving the body help through dietary, mental and physical health changes. With this, you can see where our scope of practice lies- an immediate situation such as heart attack or cancer requires a doctor. Q:What do I look for? What qualifications do you need? A: Well its a tricky one- there is no one governing body like there is say with a GP in our industry. I look for an association membership such as ANTA or similar. They have education and insurance standards that members must follow. Qualifications are through a specialized school or through University. There are some people usually old timers that were apprentice trained who know their stuff too.
