20.01.2022 Day 18 (Day 17 lost in transit). Our bad luck with flights continued with a 45 minute delay in take off. However the flight was turbulence free and we arrived home safely. Hard to believe that 7 days ago the weather was -8 degrees and we arrive home to temperatures in the 40's. I think everyone enjoyed the tour and whilst it may have been short in days, it was packed with activities. Summary of the tour is; Competed in the Charger Christmas Tournament at Keller High School ...near Dallas. The girls played 4 games against well drilled & highly competitive teams. Visited the Sixth Floor museum where the assassination of President JFK took place. Toured the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Celebrated New Year at the Main Event Entertainment Complex. Watched Baylor Women's Basketball in a Big 12 Conference game where the girls were invited to sit closer to the action and shook the players hands after the game. Visited the main square lights display in Georgetown where they met local police officers and even got arrested for photos. Stopped at University of Texas on the way to their 5th game on tour at Giddings High School. Shopping at San Marcos Premium Outlets. NBA game at AT&T Center watching San Antonio Spurs vs Toronto Raptors. Prior to the game the girls enjoyed a Courtside Experience watching the players warm up. Photos with US Marines. Visit the historical Alamo. 6th game on tour vs Weimar High School who hosted a Texas BBQ dinner after the game. The highlight was the most of the town turned up to watch the game with standing room available. Girls stayed overnight with locals and in the morning got a brief experience of an American High School. Visited NASA Space Center at Houston. More shopping at The Galleria Houston. Visit & interview at local radio station on the way to the 7th game on tour against Palestine High School where the school's sporting facilities were very impressive. Unfortunately a visit to the local ER at Palestine Hospital. A tour of UCLA and a visit to the UCLA Hall of Fame. Tour of Rodeo Drive and Hollywood. Courtside experience at the LA Clippers vs Miami Heat NBA game. Zip lining at Freemont Street & more outlet shopping in Las Vegas NHL game Anaheim Ducks vs Dallas Stars. This experience surprised many people who enjoyed it far more than they expected. Disneyland & California Adventure Venice Beach, Santa Monica & Universal Studios. Overall a very enjoyable tour which I am sure everyone will remember for a long time. It may have been short, but has given them a taste of USA and help in their planning should they wish to holiday in America in the future.
19.01.2022 Day 15. Weather wise the day did not look too promising with us waking up to rain for our visit to Disneyland. Fortunately the sun appeared mid morning and the weather turned out perfect. Everyone appeared to have fun in a tiring day jumping between Disneyland and California Adventure Park. There will be plenty of sore feet this evening.
06.01.2022 Day 16. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us on our last day in the USA. We woke to showers and heavy downpours on our visits to Venice Beach & Santa Monica Pier. It was still raining on our arrival to Universal Studios. The good news was that crowds were down and wait times for rides were very little. Therefore I think everyone got to enjoy all the rides. We are now at the airport waiting for the flight home which has been delayed by 45 minutes. However, they believe we should only arrive home 15 minutes later than scheduled.
02.01.2022 Day 12. We started the day with another Courtside experience, this time at Staples Center for the Clippers v Miami game. Not an exciting game with a few of the tour party nodding off to sleep, myself included. It was then time to board the bus for a 4.5 hour drive to Vegas. After a quick stop for a feed at Barstow we finally arrive in Las Vegas and everyone appeared to be excited. Then this evening....wait, we are in Vegas. I just remembered, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!"
02.01.2022 Day 14. Everyone survived Las Vegas and appeared to enjoy the experience. No incriminating photos or stories to post. We departed Vegas for the long coach ride back to Anaheim where tonight we had tickets to watch the ice hockey, Anaheim Ducks vs Dallas Stars. This turned our to be a highlight for many of the group who had never been to a hockey game before. The fast paced action, the entertainment and music is unlike any other sporting event. Several have said that they would love to attend another hockey game. There must be something said for the Hawkesbury Jets as a lucky charm, because every game we attended the home team won. Unfortunately we arrived in Anaheim to rain which hopefully will not stick around tomorrow, as a day at Disneyland is planned.
