24.01.2022 I am a passionate supporter and advocate for the many incredible small businesses we have here on the Sunshine Coast. And I am equally as passionate about "Generation Innovation" which is a FREE program that connects people between the ages of 15 and 25 with the marketplace and unleashes their innovative genius to launch their dream business. The Sunshine Coast Business Awards welcomed this program into our awards platform two years ago because we see how this program is a na...tural pathway for many of these talented young entrepreneurs. And while sadly we won't be holding the SCBA in 2020 we are still very much getting behind Generation Innovation and we cannot wait to see what talent is discovered in 2020. So, if you know a talented young person who could use a $10,000 package to build their very own business please get them to apply now. More details on how to apply via this link www.generationinnovation.com.au Jennifer Swaine Chair, Sunshine Coast Business Awards

18.01.2022 Super excited to have Deb Caruso from In Noosa Magazine on the panel for our first Sunshine Coast Virtual Business Roundtable event next Tuesday. Deb has worke...d in PR and corporate communications for almost thirty years, specialising in reputation, brand and relationships. A passionate supporter of local businesses, Deb started IN Noosa Magazine in 2014 and was awarded the Creative Industries Business of the Year for 2019 at the Sunshine Coast Business Awards. She continues to provide PR and communications services to select clients, including providing pro bono work to Slow Food Noosa for the past seven years. She recently provided the PR and Media Relations to launch the industry-led, consumer-focused Eat Local Noosa campaign. With the print version of the magazine in ‘hibernation’ and Deb’s other pet project as curator of Tastes of Noosa - a yet-to-be-published cookbook - in the slow cooker; Deb is continuing to work with clients and local businesses to provide digital updates to the thousands of IN Noosa Magazine subscribers as well as drive the messaging for the Eat Local Noosa initiative. That is in between zoom catch ups, home schooling and getting around to cleaning out her cupboards. Deb has rare insight from her connections and personal experience to share on the webinar next week. Join us online for this special event hosted by Kim McCosker. 13.01.2022 A great initiative by award winner Kokopod.

12.01.2022 Sunshine Coast Business Awards postponed until 2021 While 2020 started off in a promising manner, COVID-19 quickly impacted our lives in ways many of us never thought was possible. Initially, we had hoped that we may still be in a position to run the awards in 2020, but as things progressed we came to the realisation that this year there will not be much for many businesses to celebrate. Holding the awards would also add additional financial pressure on our valued sponsors.... So, it is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to not hold the SCBA in 2020. Instead, we will look forward to bringing them back in 2021 to recognise the many outstanding businesses we have here on the Sunshine Coast. : #supportsmall #supportlocal #scbusinessawards #scchamberalliance #SCmeansbusiness #strongertogether

07.01.2022 Last week the Sunshine Coast Business Awards (SCBA) Committee and I made a truly hard decision. After careful consideration, we decided not to hold the SCBA in 2020 because this year there will not be a lot to celebrate. This will be the first time in 26 years they have not been held and it saddens me more than I can truly express.... But what saddens me more is the sheer number of small businesses that are hurting and struggling to survive as a result of the impact of COVID 19. When I first got involved in the SCBA many years ago it was an experience like no other. Listening to applicant after applicant for three days solid may sound exhausting. It wasn’t. It was inspiring, uplifting and positively motivating. The small business people who make up the fabric of this incredible region all have amazing stories to tell. Each one is different but equally as inspiring as the next. And they are the heart and soul of our region. They are the ones who keep our economy alive by attracting people to the region, they provide products and services, create entertainment, events and art, they educate, manufacture and build.
