09.05.2022 Congratulations to our beautiful friend (and illustrious leader) Susanne Gervay Author for winning the Crystal Kite awards for her time-slip, historical fiction, Heroes of the Secret Underground. A heart-racing story inspired by her own family's escape from Budapest during the Holocaust. Louie lives with her brothers, Bert and Teddy, in a hotel run by their grandparents. It is one of Sydney's grand old buildings, rich in history ... and in secrets. When a rose-gold locket, o...nce thought lost, is uncovered, it sends Louie and her brothers spinning back in time. Back to a world at war: Budapest in the winter of 1944, where their grandparents are hiding secrets of their own ... Huge congratulations to Susanne on winning this incredible award! You are amazing. https://www.harpercollins.com.au//heroes-of-the-secret-un/ You can see all the winners here. https://www.scbwi.org/crystal-kite-winners/

24.04.2022 Dear SCBWI friends, In case you may have missed Tory Gervays's post about her beautiful mum, here is the latest update on the gorgeous Susanne after her brain operation. It’s been almost 2 weeks now and finally Susanne Gervay is tube free - meaning she can eat (mush haha) and walk again she is still having a lot of difficulty with speaking, writing and reading (ironic given her career), but her determination is unbelievable and she is slowly getting more words out every d...ay. She will be transferring to rehab sometime this week and spend the next 2 weeks there working on speech therapy. It is going to be a long journey but I know she is determined to be writing and giving talks again in the future! Her strength and hard work has been like nothing I have seen - everyone who knows her will know that if anyone can over come this it will be her! Tory Gervay So, as much as we'd love to see her again, we just have to be patient, as we wish her all the best and look forward to smothering her in hugs when she's back with us! There'll be a long line up for that so I hope she's ready.
