08.01.2022 Did you know that the rainforest plays a vital role in maintaining the earth's supply of freshwater? but.. how? Rainforests add water to the atmosphere through the process of transpiration, by which plants release water from their leaves during photosynthesis. Deforestation therefore reduces the moisture released into the atmosphere, causing rainfall to decrease. This is why the loss of forests often leads to drought.. Forests also work as natural water filters, keeping debris and pollution from flowing into water supplies. Fascinating!
