It was an annual event from 1961 for many years and included parades with amazing floats, an art show, and hotly contested Potato Lumping (a foot race carrying a sack of potatoes on your shoulder) and of course a Potato Festival Queen! Over time, market conditions changed and growing potatoes went out of favour and eventually the Potato Festival was no more. 09.01.2022 HAVE YOU MET MARIO? Without our amazing delivery drivers there would be no Scenic Rim Farm Box. We love our team of dedicated drivers, including the marvellous Mario. Scenic Rim Farm Box came at an opportune time for Mario Artesi, who spent the past 23 years working as a Service Manager for Qantas on the First Class and Business Class international routes.... The COVID-19 travel restrictions meant his work stopped virtually overnight. He lives locally in the Scenic Rim and was keen to stay busy. Weve been happy to help Mario do that! Mario says his years of customer service experience have been put to good use at Scenic Rim Farm Box, where he works three days a week as a driver and delivery co-pilot. "Its been great," he says. "With Qantas I mainly flew the North America routes, so Ive been to New York and LA, but Id never been to Jimboomba! Im still travelling and I am able to visit some of the beautiful places in my backyard. "This job is not much different to what I was doing before. Its about first impressions. You have a couple of minutes to make a good impression and ensure the produce is as fresh as it can be." Mario says he loves meeting the Farm Box customers and hearing their feedback about the quality of the products we deliver. His personal favourite products are Kanes Butcher Co. sausages and The Story Trees baked cheesecake (his wifes favourite!). "The Valley Pride Rainbow Carrots are fantastic too - very popular with our customers. Our customers always have a big smile on their face when we arrive. Many say, Ive been looking forward to seeing you guys."

08.01.2022 We were absolutely delighted to host an entree event for Scenic Rim Eat Local Week yesterday with our inaugural Long Lunch on the Lawn at our new home Scenic Rim Farm Shop & Cafe. Guests at the sold out event were treated to a perfect Scenic RIm winter's day, Kate Raymont's abundant and delicious food celebrating all things local, paired with exquisite Witches Falls Winery wines and cider. 08.01.2022 HAVE YOU MET BRAD? Theres never a dull moment when youre a Scenic Rim Farm Box delivery driver. Just ask Brad. Last week he even wrangled a runaway horse as he made his Farm Box deliveries. "As I opened the gate to make a delivery the horse started prancing towards me and kept going through," he says.... "It was a bit of a nightmare but we eventually caught the horse and bought it back." Brad moved to Boonah to be close to his elderly parents and has worked in landscaping and demolition. He reckons being a Farm Box driver is much better than digging dirt. "Ive never had a job where you receive such brilliant feedback," he says. "Everyone is really excited when I arrive which makes the job much easier. Everyone is really happy with the products and I get to have a nice chat to some of the customers." Brad LOVES hiking in the Scenic Rim and being with nature. Hes a jack of all trades and says yes to most of the challenges we throw his way - box painting, truck washing ... and of course horse wrangling. In 1995 Robyn and Paul Lee moved to a property in Canungra on the foothills of the Darlington Range, and established a small macadamia orchard. They planted 500 trees, which took many months of hard labour, as the land, previously used for grazing, was entirely bare. It took five years for the trees to produce a few buckets of nuts, and another two until there was enough nuts to sell.
