25.01.2022 For our SUMMER EDITION we interviewed local business owner and competitive motorcycle rider Shelby Turner. After 9 successful years running a hairdressing salon in Canungra, Shelby made the big decision to sell her business, allowing more time for her professional endeavours on the back of a bike. We chose to interview Shelby for her infectious LOVE LIFE attitude and because she's a wonderful role model for anyone wanting to start a business at a young age or pursue their sports dreams. Oh and because she's a woman who's living her best life. @_turnerchick #internationalwomensday #visitscenicrim #destinationscenicrim #womeninsport #girlboss Head to www.scenicroad.com.au/magazine to read the online version. 12.01.2022 PEOPLE - PRODUCE - PLACES It's the last week before we close our pages for the next bi-annual publication of SR Magazine- EDITION No 5. And on reflection we've had a new set of challenges with this edition. Like many we've gone from a standstill to running 100 miles per hour. It's been a whole year since our last edition and wow, what a year! 2020... the year that took us ALL by surprise!! ... However from this strange and surprising year, many new ventures have been born. There are some very clever, adaptable and inspiring people in our region, doing wonderful things. Businesses that have closed down and then re-booted to be even bigger and better than they were before - and new business ideas literally grown from the ground up. Out of the restrictions and constraints of COVID there has been much to consider. I really can't wait to share these inspiring tales of triumphs and survival. There's also a new section in our pages, a quarter page listings guide. The FIELD GUIDE.... will feature everything from local producers, growers and makers, to builders, home maintenance, solar, farming supplies and animal care. It's the go to for anyone living here or wanting to move. Couple this section with an update on real estate and property prices, you'll find this new segment interesting and useful. If you'd like to include your business within these pages there's still time, we have a few spots yet to be filled. These strange times have led to an incredible amount of domestic foot traffic, which means we are now printing our largest print run of SR Magazine to date.... a HUGE 15,000 copies ~ FREE ~ all circulating our streets and being handed out as gifts to customers, friends and travellers. SR Magazine EDITION NO 5. It's about branding, about longevity and the power that is print! See you in post edit very soon. Luisa Publisher / Editor @luisaslacksmith @foreverafterphotography

09.01.2022 So much GRATITUDE for this lovely BEE lady Thank you Alex from Little Bee & Me for emailing such kind feedback about the magazine (below). This week marks three years since the launch of Scenic Road Magazine, running high on pregnancy hormones maybe I was a bit ambitious but I'm so grateful to all the people and companies who put their trust in our idea of a long term branding strategy for a rural region. There's no denying juggling motherhood and business has its challenge...s but working with such a caring, kind and compassionate community makes it that much easier. I really do feel very lucky to live and work in the Scenic Rim. A big thank you to my team, for their dedication. Without their beautiful work, it would be a very different publication. And again, thank you Alex. Your kind words and feedback mean the world to me. Bring on our biggest and best Edition yet...Scenic Road No 5. coming soon. X .................................................................... Dear Luisa, I just wanted to let you know how excited I am to be an advertising partner again in your beautiful Scenic Road magazine. I'm excited to get my passion out on this platform, which is representative of our amazingly beautiful region: I can't wait to see this next edition in print. Partnering with you in an earlier edition was a big leap of faith for me (being a one-woman start-up with low cash flow), but it was an investment that was well and truly returned. You made that whole process seamlessly easy, and as a newcomer to small business, that's what I needed. Even 12 months on from that edition release, I get visitors commenting that they discovered Little Bee's Secret Garden in Scenic Road magazine! The magazine is keeper on coffee tables everywhere, so I am confident that I will be getting a return on that investment for a long time yet. I can't wait to see what this new edition brings. Thanks again Luisa. Kind regards, Alex (Little Bee's Secret Garden).

03.01.2022 Hi All, This time last year, I was doing my rounds for the magazine, dropping off copies and chatting to people about advertising. I took a moment to do a quick selfie at hang gliders look out, Tamborine Mountain, as you do . Thinking, I just want to remember this moment....that feeling of standing on top of the world... an overwhelming feeling of appreciation.....I really love where we live and what we do . 1 year on, enduring the turbulence of drought and bushfires and ...3 weeks into the new normal of COVID-19 isolation, just surviving seems to be the main theme for so many business owners. Putting uncertainty and financial stresses aside, it's been nice taking a break, spending time with family but now I'm really starting to miss the freedom of work (ahh no surprises there) and I especially miss all the beautiful smiling faces of our community. I've also held back from social media posts during this time, as I wanted to ensure we weren't putting out the wrong messages about tourism. But now we have slipped into the new normal, (I think) and the rules of contactless business or business from home is under way, I feel like many of you have worked out innovative ways to keep going. And I think we at Scenic Road Magazine have done the same. We may not have hard copies of our beautiful magazine for some time but we are working on ways to deliver the craft of story telling from a digital perspective. So stay tuned. In the mean time, we'll be sharing more of what we've covered thus far and those local business owners who still need our support. When all of this has lifted, I really hope we can all look at Australia and our fellow Australians with a huge amount of respect and appreciation, we did this together! What a safe and wonderful place to live. And yes, as the travel bands alleviate and we get back to normal we must #holidayhere, #buyfromthebush, #shoplocal, and support #australianmade. We have so much to celebrate. Our stunning landscapes and each other. Take care, stay healthy and stay at home....for now! much love. Luisa x
