14.01.2022 Hi everyone It’s been a challenging few months for so many businesses, my industry is currently struggling due to suppliers running out of raw materials . They are slowly restocking but sadly have increased many of their prices by over 40% ... I’ll do my best to manage my costs while continuing to do what I love and be affordable , however some prices will increase as a result of this which is unavoidable . I will be reducing the amount of scents I carry as some are not available & others have increased so much in price, I won't be able to keep them in my range. 08.01.2022 FOR THOSE THAT COMPLAIN ABOUT SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS PRICES, Please have a read. A customer wanted to purchase a custom candle for her friends birthday and spotted a lady who did absolutely amazing work, but she charged $25 a candle. The customer thought that the lady’s price was way too high so she approached the owner and in quite a brusk fashion stated "I want to buy a custom candle from you, but I think you charge too much."... The lady was a little taken aback but replied, "Ok, how much do you think I should charge?" The customer replied I think you should charge $12 because the ingredients will cost this much, and the jar this much, and the wrapping this much. I even factored in the price of your label The final price the customer had calculated was a lot cheaper than the artist's original price, but she said "Ok, deal. You will get your candle in a week". The customer was very pleased with herself and can’t resist telling all her friends what a fabulous deal she has negotiated and how smart she is, and that in a week she will have her amazing candle. A week later her parcel arrives in a lovely packaged box. She opens it and inside is a bag of wax, a bottle of fragrance oil, a wick and a label. Angrily she contacts the owner asking How could you do this to me? I asked you for a candle and you sent me wax, fragrance oil, a wick and a label!!!! The owner quietly replies "My dear, you got exactly what you paid for, you will have to work on the heating method, work out how much fragrance oil is needed, hold the wick steadily and carefully apply the label........if you think there is something missing, then you will need to pay for it." Moral of the story, when you buy handmade you are not just buying the materials you are buying the artist's , time, effort, love and dedication that goes into making your candles. I copied this from another post and edited it to suit my business......but thought it was very to the point.
