25.01.2022 The Autumn Collection Preview Clockwise from the top: Cocoa Cashmere... Pumpkin & Brown Sugar Autumn Leaves Cranberry Fig Launching online this weekend! As always, made with our amazing recipe of responsibly sourced oils and butters, the finest fragrances and eco friendly bioglitter.
25.01.2022 Say helloooooo to the newest member of the team! A warm welcome to our 100% biodegradable shrink film! ... YES ITS COMPLETELY BIODEGRADABLE. DO NOT CHUCK THIS IN THE RECYCLE BIN. PUT IT IN YOUR COMPOST. This will NOT break down into microplastics! Itll break down into water, carbon dioxide and biomass. Its plant food! It takes about 2 years to fully break down. Two years is nothing in the grand scheme of things! And after 5 years its 100% gone. Be prepared for some changes to packaging! We will mark the the labels with an identifier to let you know whats biodegradable wrap.... so keep an eye out for the change! Fast shipping from the USA too. Australia Post take note I ordered this Sunday and its here Friday from the other side of the world. Cant even get stuff to the other side of the city in three days. Now if only more places would get on board with this technology. If I can do it, so too can the supermarkets with much bigger budgets than I!
25.01.2022 Celebrating the most amazing Christmas ever tonight. Im tired and wrecked but so happy! I am blessed af to work with some of the most amazing folks in the industry. They arent just suppliers and customers. Theyre mates. Even those who would be competition are mates. Ive stood side by side with other candlemakers at markets and looked after their stalls while they get us coffee. ... For an industry thats notorious for bitchiness and undercutting Ive avoided a lot of it. Theres enough skin to go around. Theres enough benches that have free space for a candle. Theres enough bath tubs wanting fizz. You buy from those who jive with your vibe. I am blessed so many of you love what I do. If you purchased something from me this year: I hope you love it. I create because I am obsessed with the creation of things that come forth from the collision of science and art. If you purchased something from me this year: Im a tiny fish in a mass produced world. Your purchases had direct impacts. They didnt go into a CEOs bonus or companys bottom line. You funded vet trips for my cat. Stopped me from being dead broke when I ended up in hospital with a dodgy ticker. Allowed me to pay it forward so many times. Fuelled my chocolate and caffeine habits. And so on and so on right down to let me buy more stuff to keep making. Tonight I dine on nachos and slices of this fancy gold dusted ham and drink this baileys, put my feet up for a day or so and then get started planning next year. Thank you. Have a great Christmas!
24.01.2022 Its been a while since we have updated! Some great and major changes have been happening. Some of you might know the Mr of the house has been battling cancer. We are past the awful treatments and he is on the road to recovery from treatment. Many of you have loaned us your time, energy, support, and patience and for this we are eternally grateful. As he recovers from treatment, he will begin to resume some of the load I have been shouldering on my own for these past 10 we...eks. I am tired and weary, but you gotta do what you gotta do. It means Ill have more attention to pick up my game and release more new products! COVID-19 has affected markets. Im probably going to make the decision to cease all markets until further notice for a few reasons, which means in store at stockists or online will be the only places you can buy the goodies. We keep postage as low as we can, we post everywhere in Australia, and offer pickup from a couple of locations. If something kinda cool and scary actually happens and doesnt crumble in a pile of tears and sadness, well get something truly amazing happening thats going to knock your socks off. Ill be working hard on the website to accommodate the lack of markets so more of the stock you see at markets appears online. It means things might be shuffled about on the website a bit and get a bit messy for a while. This offends my taste, but I gotta do what I gotta do. Lets hope the rain buggers off by the weekend so I can roll out some amazing new bath bomb ideas Ive got rolling about my head. Boooo to the rain. Rain during the week, not on the weekend! I work full time during the week, so run this gig on weekends. And thats all for now! Enjoy your goodies!
24.01.2022 It isnt one of those fancy pants pictures i usually try to take but this snapshot of a work in progress has me literally beaming. Its a slab, not a loaf. Its the largest batch Ive ever made. ~4.7kgs in one massive mould. It got split into three loaves, each of which got split into 12 bars. The Mr of the house has made me some new tools. And I am super excited by these. Its a next level kind of thing and Im so pleased he can make them - they become very expensive impor...ts otherwise, theres no market in Australia for them really. Normally if I make a batch of soap its my usual ~1.4kgs and 10 bars. I cannot wait to make another batch in this mould. Its reserved for the best selling fragrances, those that I just cant keep tying up my normal moulds just making 3-4 of those at a time! Im thinking honey buzz needs to happen next! Or black raspberry vanilla. I have a rainbow project Im just dying to try in this too! Sensual sandalwood will hit the shelves in bulk in about 4 weeks time!
22.01.2022 Welcome the man of the house to the team! I mean hes been the "lifter of heavy drums" and the "does this pass the man test" bloke for years, but while hes waiting for his radiation treatment to start he will be taking photos with his fancy new camera and maybe updating the website. The other day he broke out the loaf cutter and demoulded and cut two loaves of soap, which we all know is a short step away from reading a formula, mixing it all up and making 10 ton of soap! Good lad. We will convert him yet!
21.01.2022 Not the most exciting of photos, but here we have some of the new additions to the team - a brand new label printer. This bad boy prints labels. That’s it. It has no other function. It is a commercial label printer that prints labels on a variety of paper stocks - and they are way more vibrant and durable. This should cut down on me having to print and cut everything! - a new 3D printer in the box. Chris prints tools and things for us to use in the workshop and around the h...ouse. The old one is retired, this new one is already hard at work. New moulds, new casts. The possibilities are endless. - the rack. The rack is going to give me 14 extra shelves of space to store curing soap with room for 2 more trays. I ran into trouble in October with literally every available surface in the curing room and all shelves in use curing soap. When it’s cured and packed it goes on the shelf you can see in the background behind it and that rack holds nearly 1500 bars on its own! The previous set of racks I used could only hold several hundred each. I’m not sure what this new one holds but I’m keen to find out! And there is more on its way!!! Exciting much?!
20.01.2022 Everyones favourite... Honey Buzz! Its up there as one of the most sweet and tasty fragrances of all time, plenty of sweet honey, toffee, musky florals. Sweet, creamy and just all round delicious! Made in my brand spanking new slab mould, so 36 bars of this goodness will hit the store in about 4 weeks.
18.01.2022 Fresh off the cutter, mungalli milk and tablelands avocado soap! Avocado has a range of skin benefits - its moisturising and conditioning, and an excellent choice for sensitive skin. Milk soaps have lots of skin benefits too - it adds extra moisture, and gives a creamy lather. Ive added a sprinkle of ground walnut shell for gentle exfoliation. Ready in four weeks or so.
18.01.2022 Oatmeal milk and honey makes a return. A deliciously rich and creamy soap with a dense, luxurious lather. Unscented for sensitive skin. Fresh mungalli milk, local honey and colloidal oats... just lovely on the skin.
17.01.2022 Did you know we have an Instagram? Its where youll see a lot more pictures of all the goodies as theyre being made! Why not pop on over and have a scroll through the feed! ... Theres also a lot of pictures of the furry mascots there too - and youll see me post things in stories.
17.01.2022 Wet soap weekend! Sharing all the pictures of some of this weekends fancy creations. This smells absolutely edible and is a combination of raspberry jam with all its lovely sweet tart notes and blueberry jam, rich sticky blueberries and a hint of sweet shortcrust pastry. I cant wait for the cut.
17.01.2022 In this era where we have become so much more aware of buying local (Australian ), I offer a slight challenge to that: some things we just dont produce here, so choose an option that has real effects in small communities - not some faceless corporation. I asked the premiere cocoa farms years ago about getting Australian cocoa butter available. Cocoa is a botique industry here, and at the time, they were a minimum of 10 years away from making that available for supply beyo...Continue reading
16.01.2022 A sneak peek of one of the new cupcakes appearing soon. Gone Troppo, a medley of all fruits tropical, pineapple, mango, fresh squeezed citrus, and a hint of passion fruit. Limited edition release! Stay tuned for the drop date!
16.01.2022 April release happening soon. Due to the fact I have needed some serious creative therapy, there is a massive, massive collection of new items about to hit the website.
16.01.2022 The media never looks at this side of things. Its another reason to really question the source of everything and ask what angle someone has. I love Baraka products. Theyre transparent. And their products are top quality!
16.01.2022 It’s time for an update. It’s been a while. What’s in store for us this year? * Housekeeping: the website is closed for the moment. We have no stock to sell! Despite preparing heavily for the transition to a retail space, we were cleaned out. There’s literally no stock to sell. I’ve been trying to get things made as fast as possible but with this insane rain and horrible heat, it’s been difficult. * New team member: Chris has joined us permanently. Now that he has retired fr...om his previous industry and has gone to the dark side of retail with me, he’s been learning to do everything that I do. * The aftermath of 2020: suppliers are having stock issues, which trickles down to makers. We get stock issues. We get freight issues thanks to the sheer overload of the postal system and up here in FNQ the roads have been cut twice due to flooding twice and we aren’t even two weeks into January. * New products: new products are coming! We’ve been working around the clock to source new products and upscale our current production! * New equipment: We have invested heavily into plant and equipment that’s going to free up time and space with more to come during the year. This will allow us to make more in the time we have. I’m particularly excited about my new label printer - labels are going to go from average to spesh. With that, we get to redesign every single label. Ugh. We can’t wait to reveal some of the awesome things we are working on behind the scenes. And you are always welcome to visit! See more
15.01.2022 Well what a week! It’s Friday. I’ve never been more grateful to see Friday. Let’s start with what went wrong:... - I upgraded the point of sales at my day job on Sunday. Today was literally the first day we didn’t have a shutdown thanks to bugs and ghosts in the mechanics. - Star Track has officially lost the plot: three packages in an order, all leaving at the same time, one order. Two boxes have consignment numbers and has arrived. The third box? The sender can’t locate a tracking number for it. No one knows where it is. It didn’t arrive with the rest. It’s just gone. - Two full batches of bath bombs went from gorgeous to parched cracked monstrosities. You get cracking with them here and there, it’s part and parcel of bath bombs. No biggie. Except this was Grand Canyon style cracking. Then they just split in half. Good times. - I spilled about half a litre of coconut oil over my feet. Yeah good luck waddling carefully over tiled surfaces without going ass up. - Shopify locked me out of my account while trying to resolve the issue with a plug in that wasn’t updating shipping details. I just got back into it about 10 minutes ago after a long back and forth of emails to help desk. Who are strangely enough the opposite of what they say they are. - We already know how shipping is. I feel sorry for my favourite drivers. They’re copping it. I like a yarn with them because they take mighty good care of my parcels. I don’t envy them their jobs at the moment. - Some nutter failed to slow and give way to me on a roundabout today and just about cleaned my car up. I dunno about you, but generally if there’s traffic on the roundabout I give way to it. - Supply shortages are everywhere at the moment and stock levels are patchy. - Google/gsuite were down this week. I thought I’d avoided the issue buttttt apparently not and it has been a bit odd with emails not getting through. Rare to have any google product go down. How lucky for me. Hopefully it is resolved now! THE GOOD NEWS NOW: - We are starting Christmas! Yes! Christmas is coming and we are excited here!!! Plans are being done for the most epic Christmas ever. And it will be. Big things are coming. - I managed to snag some of the fragrances that have been out of stock for ages due to supply shortages. - 17kgs of oils have been prepped for weekend soaping goodness. That’s about it for now. Enjoy your weekends!!
15.01.2022 Its the little things that bring us joy. In 2020 we are continuing to move to cleaner, greener packaging!! We already utilise cardboard and glass where we can, and our hard plastics are recyclable or reusable once you clean them out. Soft plastics have always been recyclable in redcycle bins, but we are now moving to completely biodegradable soft plastics. This change will take place with our soaps, bath bombs, sample bags and anything that is shrinkwrapped. What is most e...xciting about this move is that the new wrap we are using is totally degradable. It does not simply break down into smaller plastics, it fragments and oxidises with light and heat, before being consumed by micro-organisms - leaving behind only water, carbon dioxide, and biomass - plant fuel. Chuck it in the compost heap and let it return to the environment from whence it came. To read more about this plastic - biolefin - go hit up this link here: http://www.nationalshrinkwrap.shoppingcartsplus.com/f/bio_s
15.01.2022 TODAY IS THE DAY. SO WHATS THE GOSS? Today the Manasaurus and I are the new owners of Mt Sheridan Newspower. You can find us across from Woolworths in Mt Sheridan Plaza. As such, we now have a retail location for Scentsations by Tash. It will take us time to organise and get set up, but shortly you’ll be able to find the ENTIRE range in store! You will be also to pick up your online orders from there, and since we are open close to 70 hours a week, you can pick up before work, late nights and weekends!
15.01.2022 Did you know we have an Instagram? It’s where you’ll see a lot more pictures of all the goodies as they’re being made! Why not pop on over and have a scroll through the feed! ... There’s also a lot of pictures of the furry mascots there too - and you’ll see me post things in stories.

08.01.2022 Every time you buy from a local business, a small business, a real live person does a little dance of joy. #supportlocalau
07.01.2022 Testing out a new scent and revisiting favourite techniques. Lime and orange, tart and sweet and makes my mouth water. And. This soap has NO white in it! Its unusual for me to leave out white... its my way of keeping things balanced. Cant wait to see the cut!
07.01.2022 This makes me sad We are having trouble shipping stuff in a timely manner at the moment. Both auspost and sendle are having major technical dramas. ... Pickups are slow, and the blokes who do it have said theyre snowed under at the moment. Auspost wellllllll.... theyre auspost. I havent been able to scan a tracking number on my phone for weeks - or have it update here. Please bear with us. Youll get your goodies. Its just chaotic! Cant do much about it at all. Apparently there are more parcels being sent then at Christmas. And theyre having to run on reduced staff due to illness or social distancing requirements.

04.01.2022 Cashmere. Gorgeous swirl. Keeping this one aaaalll to myself, sorrrreee but cashmere is a fave around here. I love mirror images when they look this good!
04.01.2022 Due to the fact that we are both rather unwell at the moment I wont be able to make the market this Sunday. No one wants anyone snuffling and sneezing over soaps. It sucks, but onwards to the next.
03.01.2022 Happy Easter! Its definitely a very different Easter this year than it usually is with social isolation and lockdowns. It is what it is, and we just have to make do with what we have. Im blessed with four days off to spend with the Mr and the #purrstrio. Its time I value greatly and means a lot to me, especially now. May your Easter and long weekend be pleasant.
