25.01.2022 Just a couple of Minnie-vale Mascot bull calves.

25.01.2022 Cold, windy and intermittent drizzly showers. She chose perfect weather for calving.

25.01.2022 Bronwins done a good job, 51kg poll hfr calf. Even calved in a place where it only required 1/2 hour of searching in the ute not the usual 2hrs on foot.

25.01.2022 Congratulations to all vendors on a very successful sale.

25.01.2022 SA newsletters have just been sent out!!!! Here's a sneak peak at what is in them. Anyone with photos or information which can be included is welcome to send it through.

23.01.2022 Did you really want us to move? Sorry we were here first, go around.

22.01.2022 When mum says "Quick they're coming to check on you , drop"...

22.01.2022 Two very much fresh newbies. A Simmy bull calf and a Charolais hfr calf.

19.01.2022 When you've been to 1 show in your whole life but decide you can't possibly walk through the yards, up the raceway, into the crush, up the ramp and then onto the trailer...... without being on a halter.

18.01.2022 Couple quick videos in the wind of Minnie vale Jona.

18.01.2022 Probably the quickest 6 head of cattle to load. 10 mins from time truck entered paddock till back on the road. Unfortunately this young ladys mum was onboard but sometimes its got to be done.

16.01.2022 The last of the females purchased from the Glenlea drought buster sale to calf, Pipeclay G2E. We purchased 4 PTIC females (2 had 7 mnth old hfr calves at foot) in April 19 and elected to take up the generous offer of leaving them up there on agistment. These girls came home in early Aug to settle in prior to calving. We have ended up with 3 hfr calves (2 by Challambi Muscles and 1 by Glenlea Kenworth) and 1 Kenworth bull calf.

16.01.2022 Scharwayn Flare R25E (P). Sire- Minnie vale Mascot Dam- Scharwyn Flare... Another young Flare addition. A family line who since purchasing the first Flare female early in 2017 with a hfr calf at foot, has left all heifers.

16.01.2022 Minnie vale Jona J19E (P). Siring soft, moderate, well muscled and easy doing progeny.

16.01.2022 Pizazz chose the early hours of this morning to calve. A poll bull calf by Rangan Rio Bravo D15E. Was feeling the cold as was already in negative territory.

15.01.2022 When youve been to 1 show in your whole life but decide you cant possibly walk through the yards, up the raceway, into the crush, up the ramp and then onto the trailer...... without being on a halter.

15.01.2022 A daylight check of River Run Penny and Hfr calf Spinifex Penny Rhaine. 43kg poll calf by River Run Nobleman.

15.01.2022 Both first calvers and doing a good job with their Allednaw Payday calves.

14.01.2022 A few weeks ago someone asked me if I would sell my 1/2 of farm and buy a house and a bit of land somewhere else, where it actually rains, take a few cows with me and commute for work. Well these photos show some of the reasons why I couldn't. Where else would you be able to buy affordable and profitable land and the open space to do your own thing? Yes there's hard times and tough decisions to make when things are bloody hard. The past three years have certainly highlighted ...that and one would have to admit that there were times when it just seemed so much easier to give up but we're still here. Still working our butts off to make a living but thankfully not having to rush home from shearing to feed stock after work. Things are certainly looking a lot better this year, we have feed, reasonable crops and the stock are looking pretty impressive. See more

14.01.2022 We all see the photos of newborns running around the paddock with mums. Unfortunately sometimes mother nature decides to complicate things. A heart felt thanks to Dr John, Olivia and Chris.

14.01.2022 With the midday check of the Charolais complete, it was time to bring the red and white girls in.

14.01.2022 Introducing River Run Penny, purchased at the Charnelle sale. A big thanks to Joe Wilton for providing transport from Toowoomba down to Naracoorte.

13.01.2022 It's Pablo's turn to go to his new home. In the yards and awaiting pickup tonight before his new adventures start.

13.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and happy Easter.

12.01.2022 Midnight calving run. The safe arrival of River Run Pennys calf (poll hfr by River Run Nobleman).

12.01.2022 We have had a few people ask us how COVID has affected us as farmers. In a nutshell it hasnt really (besides nearly having to go and collect gum leaves). Livestock sales have still gone ahead, of course with restrictions in place to allow this to happen safely, farm work still had to be done and livestock checked. Probably the biggest issue was not being able to see how your stock presented and sold at auction. Although restrictions have eased at a lot of venues, we are stil...l adhering to social distancing and only attending saleyards to deliver stock and then return home. It has been a great opportunity to jump online and watch the live sale held weekly at the Southern Livestock Exchange, Mount Compass. A great tool to still see how your stock have presented and hear auctioneers comments whilst getting work done at home. The cattle pictured below are 2 7/8 month old Simmie steers and a 11 month old Simmie bull (an outstanding calf who if had been a poll wouldnt have been sold). All have come directly out of paddock with no supplementary feeding. Normally they would be weaned and steers put through feedlot and the bull held through to sell for breeding. Given the current buoyancy of the cattle job we felt it was too good of opportunity to miss with prices reflecting this and making it a rewarding day. See more

12.01.2022 Yep must be time to shift them again.

12.01.2022 Slightly different calving for this girl. Hind leg presentation with the added dilemma of would she need assistance or not. Decided to give her a few minutes and reevaluate the situation. 15 minutes from presentation of legs to an unassisted delivery of a bull calf.

12.01.2022 Its Pablos turn to go to his new home. In the yards and awaiting pickup tonight before his new adventures start.

11.01.2022 When all is quiet and peaceful in the maternity paddock.

11.01.2022 Bronwin's done a good job, 51kg poll hfr calf. Even calved in a place where it only required 1/2 hour of searching in the ute not the usual 2hrs on foot.

11.01.2022 A pretty impressive Charolais steer and "Charcoal" a future commercial breeder. Steer is sired by Glenlea Kenworth and Charcoal was purchased as a week old bobby and fostered onto a Simmie hfr who had calving complications.

08.01.2022 Pacific's in the yards and ready to go on a new adventure.......And now off and on his way to meet some girls.

07.01.2022 When after work cow checks reveal another fresh on the ground Flare female.

06.01.2022 Quick check on mum and bubs before hitting the shearing shed.

04.01.2022 Fifth mobs in and done, two more to go and vaccinations and backlinings done.

03.01.2022 Mullum Digna, the only dry cow (calved out of season on previous calf) held back during last years tough season in order to retain the Digna family. Justified move with another Digna female hitting the ground.

03.01.2022 Quick check of cattle before heading through to a ram sale.

03.01.2022 The past week has seen some new additions in the maternity paddock. 3 down with 9 to go before next group is moved in. This morning's newbie was just a little bigger than expected at 47kg but is doing well. Can definetly say he wasn't there at 1am when doing the midnight calving check.
