22.01.2022 Helping your clients to see, understand and have an experience of their needs being met and then learning to express them in healthy ways is our important work in schemas therapy

22.01.2022 Wow! I did not realise the deep deep damage and negative impact of the old stories that exist in us and in history, which shame women and which disrupt our curiosity, inner instinct to ‘tend and befriend’ and our individuation. Innervism is our inner work which needs to be done to correct these old stories so that we can write a ‘brave new ending’. Schema therapy is innervism and can help you learn how to have a ‘strong back and soft front’. By understanding and making s...ense of the stories we have been told and learned throughout our lives and history, means we can correct the past and create important change for the future. It’s time to tell stories where no one is to blame for the human predicament and all of us are responsible for forging a hopeful path forward This is a must listen: https://podcasts.apple.com//unlocking-us-wit/id1494350511

21.01.2022 Pulling it out at the roots! I love this quote from Joan Farrell in a schema therapy supervision session from the online schema therapy community. This is what we do with the critic: pull it out at the roots. ... I often talk about schemas being the weeds that destroy the garden, which we need to clean up so that the plants can grow.

17.01.2022 This is the goal of schema therapy

14.01.2022 Love this. Love this. Love this

10.01.2022 I have really enjoyed a number of opportunities to present on The "Soldier Mode" recently, to Well-being Australia, The Australian Psychological Society Clinical College, and Disaster Relief Australia. I very much value the opportunity to share this concept and love the support and feedback I receive. This concept just makes sense and offers a new approach and a preventative approach to veteran well-being. I hope that this concept and the research I am doing can change the way we take care of our veterans after service. To find out more about my research check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4so8i3QINgs&t=2s

10.01.2022 So here is the interview with Chris Smith from live radio Saturday where I talk about the impact of the military culture on soldiers: https://omny.fm//inside-the-mind-of-a-special-forces-soldi I have subsequently been invited on to "Chris Smith Tonight" and will be on live TV tonight around 6.35-6.40pm (QLD time) on the Sky News channel! ... I look forward to talking more about the Soldier Mode and impact of military service on our veterans

10.01.2022 So excited to be hosting this 3hr webinar / workshop for the APS on working with the "Soldier Mode" and providing a unique and effective approach to managing the military to civilian transition! https://psychology.org.au/Event/21872

08.01.2022 Wow this is powerful and what Schema therapy is all about

08.01.2022 Sometimes what we need most is to be heard, to be listened todeeply. Deep listening fosters emotional connection between us and can bring immediate relief and ...comfort during difficult times. . . In the words of my beloved teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, Deep listening, compassionate listening is not listening with the purpose of analyzing or even uncovering what has happened in the past. You listen first of all in order to give the other person relief, a chance to speak out, to feel that someone finally understands him or her. Deep listening is the kind of listening that helps us to keep compassion alive while the other speaks, which may be for half an hour or forty-five minutes. During this time you have in mind only one idea, one desire: to listen in order to give the other person the chance to speak out and suffer less. This is your only purpose. Other things like analyzing, understanding the past, can be a by-product of this work. But first of all listen with compassion. . . All relationships can benefit from deep listening. . . @australianpsychologist See more
