10.05.2022 Lots of planning, drawing and concept work at the moment. The year is really under way and my schedule is full for the next few months.. Dreaming about getting on a plane .. @ryanlphoto
30.04.2022 Looking forward to the long weekend? Spending it in your lovely sunlit home like our Oatley project? Time to think about accessories like rugs, cushions and plants to cosy up your place in time for the cooler months. @ryanlphoto
14.04.2022 Bathroom wall lights: not only a nice decorative touch but super practical for applying make up etc. .. and you can have some fun with the placement like I did here.! @ryanlphoto
12.04.2022 ‘Mix and Match’ A little play on colour and pattern with the bath hob in my Oatley bathroom. The timber look tile was cut to size off site and brings an element of contrast and warmth to the cool colour scheme. @ryanlphoto
25.03.2022 Don’t you just love a spacious shower with a ledge .?
25.01.2022 ‘Green with envy’ of this master bedroom joinery. Lots of drawer storage completes the walk in robe area - scroll to see. There’s also a mirror for make up and last minute checks!! Photos: @ryanlphoto @ Petersham, New South Wales
24.01.2022 Chilly days are here, time to warm up by the fireplace . I designed this living room a few years back with this stunning floor-to-ceiling fireplace. As an asymmetrical design, the floating display shelves balance the black marble platform, while the speciality plaster finish on the chimney adds texture and interest. A perfect open space for the whole family to grab a comfy seat on the lounge, chair or ottoman around the fire, and warm up. .... Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/ See more
24.01.2022 Design is problem solving, and I love turning a challenge into a feature. . In this walk in robe, we could not foresee that the ducting would take up some of the storage space. By cladding the front of the section with a mirror, this not only solved the problem but offered a handy spot for a full length mirror to check outfits and help reflect the light around the room. .... 23.01.2022 A little vignette on one of the original marble fireplaces in my ‘inner city terrace’ project. I love seeing original features stand the test of time and blend so well into the new interiors. Pic: @ryanlphoto

23.01.2022 WFH calls for a practical yet inspiring home office space . Seriously functional yet not boring or dull in the slightest, this home office offers workspace for two, meeting table for four and two comfy chairs for reading or casual chats. With soft timber tones amongst the geometric wallpaper and rug, the entire space feels textural and cosy - perfect for all the WFH days ahead! .... Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/ See more
20.01.2022 An elegant bathroom redesign that inspires tranquillity . I loved working on this family bathroom! A bathtub was a must in this redesign, so I created a ‘wet area’ to maximise space. The unique, green mosaic tiles also draw the eyes to the end of the room, helping this long but narrow bathroom feel more spacious. For an added sense of luxury, how stunning is the 'calacutta jade' marble shelf and vanity top! Not to mention the brushed brass finish on the tapware...
19.01.2022 Stair detail from Petersham project. We replaced glass and chrome combination and sanded and stained floorboards. The gunmetal finish of the new balustrade echoes the rest of the home’s hardware and really complements the new dark walnut timber floor colour.
19.01.2022 ..........more of this lovely bedroom, how inviting is it? photo: @ryanlphoto
17.01.2022 From a moulded basin to slimline benchtop, this bathroom is full of all my favourite features. . I love a moulded basin! It just makes cleaning so easy. This one is solid surface and is integrated into a slimline benchtop, another fave of mine. Finished off with the warmth of timber grain and an organic shaped mirror, equals - a smart and functional bathroom! . Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/
15.01.2022 A walk in robe as grand as this? Yes please! . A full size wall mirror is not only essential for checking out your outfit selection, but can also help bounce light around in a walk in robe. This one in our inner city terrace does just that! . Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/
13.01.2022 In need of a functional kitchen but in a restricted space? We’re here to help! . This is one of my favourites. In this tight space, we avoided the overhang and instead created a ‘concrete block’ island as the focal point. The custom dining table was another winner here. Designed to fit the space like a glove, it has become the perfect everyday meal time spot for our clients. .... Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/ See more
12.01.2022 Let furniture float - have you heard that before? . In a large space, pushing furniture up against the walls can leave a room feeling more empty and out of proportion. By ‘floating’ or placing furniture away from the walls, you allow room for your furniture to breathe and be enjoyed from all sides. To help anchor it down, ensure the front legs of your sofa or armchair sit on the rug, that way it belongs to the setting and creates the right distance for chatting. . 11.01.2022 Opt for neutral schemes to create beautifully simple yet timeless designs . In this bathroom from our inner city terrace project, we employed a clean and neutral colour palette, adding interest through the textured splashback tile from @dilorenzo_tiles and gunmetal-finished tapware from @astrawalkerofficial. The floor also has a subtle stone effect, creating a lovely canvas for towels, foliage and other decorative touches which can be easily updated. . Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/
10.01.2022 Refresh your sofa for the season change . With the change of season, I like to refresh or alternate some of my cushions and throws. For a cosy atmosphere, I replace lightweight linen throws with warm woolly ones. This little sofa vignette is from our inner city terrace project... very welcoming! .... 09.01.2022 Smart yet family friendly, this kitchen features porcelain splash back, feature pendants and a really functional square island.
08.01.2022 How easy is it to bring life to a room with a plant or some foliage? . Just replacing a pot or vase in any space can totally change the vibe and help you create new, interesting clusters in your home. Play with height and depth and remember the golden 'pyramid' rule... . Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/
04.01.2022 Spring time always feels like a new beginning and motivates me to ‘shed’ unwanted items and get organised. Having a custom walk in robe like this always helps! Designed for a recent project in Oatley. Photo: @ryanlphoto
03.01.2022 Super proud to see this image of my Petersham kitchen resonate with Houzz users. Thanks to my lovely clients for trusting in me, @blakesofsydney for making the vision come alive and of course to @ryanlphoto for the image.
01.01.2022 How do you design for an ‘old Victorian terrace meets new modern extension’? . Victorian terraces tend to have the awkward transition area between the original, formal front part of the house to the added, modern back. Here, this transition area became a small yet sophisticated butler’s pantry which includes a full fridge, second sink, microwave and refrigerated wine cabinet. This effectively allowed us to keep the kitchen in the open plan modern addition looking clean and streamlined. . Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/
01.01.2022 A colourful and comfy reading corner spot . To bring colour into this living room as requested by our client, we chose this stunning blue feature chair and commissioned an original artwork by @kc_rooney in complimentary colours. The four-metre high ceiling was the perfect canvas for these beautiful pendant lights, substituting the usual floor lamp. Overall this has to be one of my favourite reading or ‘conversation chair’ living room corners. . Photography: instagram.com/ryanlphoto/
