19.01.2022 The cost of Brain cancer - Brooke 15 March 2016 - 21 March 2018 Sweet little Brooke, born with cancer, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme grade 4, an ag...gressive malignant brain tumour, at just 3 months old in June 2016. Brooke had multiple surgeries, intensive chemotherapy, radiation therapy and other medications, tests and procedures. Unfortunately after intensive treatment Brooke was tragically diagnosed with a secondary cancer, Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, she sadly passed away on the 21st of March 2018. September is childhood cancer awareness month if you could share this post with your friends it would be greatly appreciated. This terrible disease that doesn’t discriminate not only does it affect the child mother father brother sister grandparents it also affects your close friends and people that you meet along the way while your child is going through this journey it affects all in some way.

02.01.2022 Until you see Brain cancer first hand, it’s kind of hard to conceive how brutal it actually is. CNS (central nervous system) tumours have the highest mortalit...y rate of all childhood cancers, with about 140 new cases diagnosed in Australia every year among 0-24 year olds (Childhood Cancer Incidence in Australia 1983 2006 Cancer Council QLD published Dec 2009) These tumours are difficult to treat due to the Blood to Brain Barrier. Treatments often leave you with debilitating conditions, that have massive impacts on quality of life; including but not limited to vision, hearing and speech impairments, chronic fatigue, ongoing cognitive issues (memory and processing issues), nausea and vomiting, changes in hormones (requiring life long treatment), fertility issues, vital organ damage, incontinence or other bowel issues, balance or mobility issues, eating or swallowing issues, anxiety and depression, secondary cancers. Some of these effects may be temporary or permanent, they may occur immediately or later in life.
