25.01.2022 Swimming lessons at home - BOOKINGS OPEN! - https://mailchi.mp/f/swimming-lessons-at-home-bookings-open

25.01.2022 Another tip on how to teach kids to swim at home. Monkeys on the wall. Monkeys on the wall is an essential safety skill for children to be able to move from one area to another. ... To learn monkeys, we teach the child to move along the wall using a hand over hand movement. Demonstration and assistance from you will most likely be required. Toys are a great incentive, placing the toys sporadically along the wall will encourage your child to move and it is important that you always remain close and within arms reach in the beginning. As your child advances with this skill and improves, their strength and grip will improve and the distance will be become longer. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

25.01.2022 Floating may seem like an easy & tedious task at times, but it is a vital one. Floating is not only used in the four strokes, but it is used to save lives. So we suggest you practice it! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

23.01.2022 Swimming lessons can be daunting for some children. It is a place where children need to build trust with their teacher. We pride ourselves here at SOLS for doing this. If your child feels safe, then you will see them grow! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

23.01.2022 Bubbles!! How often do we hear that at swimming lessons. Bubbles not only prevent water from going up our nose but they help with learning techniques of swimming strokes later on. So this is a step we don't want to skip!! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

21.01.2022 Rachel is what we call a unicorn! She not only has four boys of her own and two beautiful grandchildren. She has been working with children for 23 years, specialising in working with children with Autism, cerebral palsy spina bifida, chromosome 6deletion and motor dyspraxia. Rachel not only has work experience but she has life experience and the two together make an unstoppable combination! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

20.01.2022 We all hope you are enjoying this gorgeous weather and utilising your pools. Go check out our latest blog for a quick guide to make sure you are heating your pool correctly and getting the best out of your pool. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers https://buff.ly/3pjAoyg

20.01.2022 Having a child swim in various depths to retrieve objects is a great skill to have, it developes better breath control, increased independence, good rotation and recovery. We suggest starting in shallow water to begin with. Before your child can go deeper, make sure they have good breath control. We also need to remember that your child will be changing positions in the water, going from a floating position on top of the water into a more vertical position to retrieve the t...oys and recovering back into a standing vertical position. Assist your child in these positions by gently guiding them. If your child needs help getting down to the object you can always guide them down but make sure this is done at an angle so water doesn't go up their nose. Once they have mastered that you can show them how to use their arms to pull themselves independently to the bottom. Simply place the arms in front and by pulling the arms down to the side, will assist in the change of body position. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

19.01.2022 Distraction is a great tool when trying to get a child to float. Toys or mirrors are always a good go to. I mean what child doesn't love to look at themselves in the mirror! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

18.01.2022 By teaching a child to jump from the ledge of the pool, we are giving them the capability to be in control, and they will further develop their respect of the water and the feeling of buoyancy in deeper water. Have your child move to the edge of the pool, with their feet on the edge. Give them the cue of "ready, one, two, three" and have them jump towards you. Don't move away from your child's jump as you are trying to build trust with you, your child and the water. Once trust is built as well as confidence, incorporate an activity. Practice the jump by incorporating a toy such as a pool noodle which your child can grab and then turn around swim to the wall. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

18.01.2022 It is certainly starting to heat up so keep an eye out on your inboxes this week as we are about to send out an email about our Mobile season. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

17.01.2022 Say hi to Maria! She is the treasure that we have found. Maria has lived in many places in Australia and she has finally found her place in Adelaide. She has been teaching Aqua classes for over ten years and to say she is good at it, is an understatement! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

17.01.2022 Children love watching other children, and this is how they can learn by imitating each other. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

17.01.2022 So, if you haven't heard already, this is where our second pool location is #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

16.01.2022 Three safety skills to teach your child! 1. return to safety 2. hold on to the side of the pool 3. climb out of the pool... These safety skills may seem simple. But, teaching your child to turn around to hold onto the pool wall or to climb out of the pool by themselves, can take time. And lots of practice! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

16.01.2022 After yesterdays turn of events, it looks like we will be recommencing swimming lessons sooner than we were expecting. We are now awaiting confirmation from authorities about when we can safely reopen. At this stage, pools are allowed to reopen for swimming for fitness and rehabilitation only. Swimming lessons do not fit into either of these categories! I ask for your patience as we continue to act in line with directions of authorities. We will continue to keep you informed ...as updates arise. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email or by calling 8460 0095.

15.01.2022 Another tip for teaching your children to swim at home - Turn arounds! As soon as your child has mastered breath control, this skill can be learnt. Hold your child under their arms facing away from you, give them a cue of "ready, one, two, three" and lift and lower them in the water and turn them back around towards you so they are able to reach and grab hold of you. Start with a couple of these above the water so your child is familiar with what is to happen. And also rememb...er to pratise turning around on both their left and right side. We practise turns arounds to ensure that your child is competent with turning around to the wall of the pool if they need, especially after jumping in. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

13.01.2022 Not that Alice needs an introduction because everyone knows her friendly face but it is important to know who is behind our amazing swim school. Alice has been teaching since she was 12 years old and she has run this business for six years now. To say that Alice knows what she is talking about is an understatement. She lives and breathes our swim school and we are thankful to have her. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

13.01.2022 Guess who had a birthday this week! Send Alice some love! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

12.01.2022 We always recommend starting small with teaching your child to independently kick and use their arms. Manipulating their legs and arms is a good start. Have your child push off the pool independently and grab hold of you is a great first step. Turn your child around to face the wall and then have them push off you to kick and paddle to the wall. The better they get the further away from the wall you will get. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

12.01.2022 The Staff at SOLS all wish you a safe and Happy New Year! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

11.01.2022 Not only is a new season of Summer swimming coming, but we also have a new phone number. Change this in your phones, in your diaries and your calendars. 8460 0095 is the new number to remember!! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

09.01.2022 With the warmer weather creeping in it's time we chat about our Nappy Policy for the pool again! At SOLS children under the age of three or who are not toilet trained must wear a Happy Nappy which we stock here at SOLS for $26.95 or a design that has the same features! They are great value! No more having to buy disposable swim nappies! Come have a chat to us and look at what range we have! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

08.01.2022 Water conditioning is one of the first steps that we teach in our classes. Be sure to give your child the cue of ready, one, two, three and then pour the water over your child's face. Doing simple activities like this can give your child that headstart in their swimming adventure! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

07.01.2022 Merry Christmas from The Staff at School of Little Swimmers #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

07.01.2022 Our group classes aren't the typical oversized, undermanaged classes. We want your child to receive the attention that they need. Our focus is your child, not how many children we can fit in one lesson! If you have any questions about our classes, give us a call. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

04.01.2022 Having your child learn to swim is essential to most parents. Having your child know the four swimming strokes may not be. If you are not so hung up on your child, learning the strokes, then exploration and water play is the key. Your child will learn how their body moves in the water very quickly, especially if they are around water regularly. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

03.01.2022 Everyone say hi to Alison. When Alison speaks about her Swimming teaching experience she says it all stems from a mid life crisis in 2017 - thats when her career in swimming started. Alison since then has been very busy working for the Department for Education Water Safety, children with disabilities as well as volunteering for the AWSOM Project in Vietnam in January 2020 where she was instructing water safety to vietnamese children in My Tho City. We are lucky to have her, so show her some love! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

03.01.2022 Hi Everyone, this may be a familiar face or it may not, but this is one of our team members, Lauren. Lauren is the best at what she does. She not only works in the pool, but she is also one of the masterminds behind our programs. With her training, certifications and her knowledge of children (having two of her own), Lauren knows what she's talking about! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

02.01.2022 Balancing is a skill that is needed in swimming! But when it is teamed up with a gorgeous smile, it's even better! #sols #schooloflittleswimmers

01.01.2022 Floating is the foundation of swimming! So if your child is in the bath or the blow-up pool in the backyard get them to practise. Incorporating it into a game or giving a toy is always a winner! Get your child to focus on something else, so the sensation of water going into their ears doesn't deter them. #sols #schooloflittleswimmers
