13.01.2022 Today is all about getting ready for tomorrow, which is going to be one of EXTREME fire danger in the hills and elsewhere. The critical factor tomorrow will be ...WIND, which is forecast to be in the 40-60 kmh range with higher gusts. This means that any fires that do start, if not controlled quickly, will develop rapidly. If you do not have a well thought out and practised fire plan, then you need to LEAVE EARLY and spend the day off the mountain. Go to the cinema, visit friends or family, go shopping ... just go! "I'll WAIT AND SEE..." is not an option. So there's plenty to do... Go around the garden and clear away combustible material from close to the house. Check your property is accessible to the emergency services and that any equipment you might need is working. Pack your go bag and any valuables you want to take with you TODAY, not at the last minute tomorrow. This will not be the last one of these days this summer. Plan for your pets too.
