25.01.2022 Dr Martin's Physics Tips The key to Physics is the units. Learn the units not the formulae. Example Velocity units are m/s. Metres/seconds. Distance/Time. So velocity=distance/time.

24.01.2022 The exam season is nearly over. Well Done to all our clients who have worked so hard over the past year, and to all the parents who have supported them through this difficult time.

23.01.2022 During my A-levels Dr Martin really helped me with the subjects I was struggling with, maths and chemistry. It was great to have a one on one tutorial with someone who would give me their full attention, helped me with any mistakes that I made and showed me a few tricks that were really handy in my exams. Without these tutorials I would not have gotten to where I am now, where I wanted to go. Mr Gilmour, Sunderland.

20.01.2022 Dr Martin's Creative Writing Tip Good Writers are always Good Readers. If you read lots of different Authors then you will get an appreciation for what is possible.

19.01.2022 Dr Martin's Poetry Criticism Tip. The Key to analysing Poetry is to analyse yourself. When you read verse for the first time, be aware of how the words are making you feel and think about. Verse works by manipulating the reader (you) in a very short space of time. A text can either 'pull you in', by including ideas that you know e.g. Play Station or X Factor, or 'push you away', by including ideas that you don't e.g. Jung, Nabokov. Trust your first instincts, if your confused about what a text is about, it's usually because it's about confusion.

18.01.2022 I hereby offer the strongest possible recommendation on behalf of Liam Martin. He demonstrated patience, fairness and caring for students. My daughter's experience was excellent, and the results were exceptional. She improved her self-confidence and her grades. My daughter actually enjoys taking her exams now!! Thank you Liam for all your hard work!! Mrs Tempest, Seaham

18.01.2022 Dr Martin's Grammar Tip. Only use one conjunction ( joining word) per sentence. If you have more than one it means you have more than one sentence. Never use But, instead try However, Although, Conversely, Whereas, Albeit.

16.01.2022 Dr Martin's Essay Writing Tip. First impressions count. Most Exam markers can tell the grade by the first sentence or paragraph. Spend time and own the question. Put it in context in terms of its tradition and history. Say what it is about and how you are going to deal with it.
