25.01.2022 It was great to be involved with this with Dr James P. Tucker and Dr Paul Butcher. Understanding shark behaviour along coastal beaches is critical for effective development of non-lethal shark-bite mitigation strategies. Also a huge congratulations to James for recently finishing his PhD!!! https://fb.watch/2iQKc9jwfm/

24.01.2022 A big thank you to Project Everest Ventures and the team of 12 engineering students from University of Sydney who tested our artificial intelligence model for automatic shark detection and identification (and other animals) in drone-based surveys! The students also created amazing tracking tools and policy documents for Sci-eye to grow in the most socially and environmentally positive way possible! #SocialEnterprise #AITech #Drones #SharkManagement #Ecology #Environment #Sustainability #Impact

23.01.2022 Dr Andrew Walsh presented at the Geoscience Australia and The Wonderful World of Drones seminar where he explains what we are up to in Sci-eye to deliver AI to drone-based shark surveillance. His presentation starts at 26:30. https://lnkd.in/gHfp3tr #dronesforgood #marineconservation #sharks

19.01.2022 Its awesome to see Southern Cross University promote some of the stuff we are up to in Sci-eye. The AI was a collaboration formed during Andrew Colefax's PhD, which was on developing drones for shark surveillance with SCU and Department of Primary industries. The AI collaboration was between Macquarie University and NSW DPI, involving Dr Andrew Walsh, Dr Cormac Purcell, Dr Andrew Colefax and Dr Paul Butcher. Excited to see Sci-eye involved with the further development of drones for shark mitigation that supports conservation. https://www.scu.edu.au//southern-cross-phd-researcher-brin

09.01.2022 It was great that founding members of Sci-eye were invited to co-author and provide input to this paper that overviews the role of drones in shark science. In particular, the advanced sensor section and the artificial intelligence section provide a good background for what Sci-eye is involved with researching and developing. Thanks for leading the publication and putting it all together Paul Butcher. https://www.mdpi.com/2504-446X/5/1/8
