18.01.2022 2020 has been a rough year, with lots of changes to our lives and workplaces as a result of COVID-19. Now more than ever it’s important to look after ourselves and each other. We are thinking of the SIRT community during this challenging time and want to reiterate that we are here to support each other. This is a great reminder for us all to check in with our colleagues, patients, friends and families to start a conversation about mental health. A conversa...tion can change a life. R U OK offer excellent resources to support this conversation and what happens after you ask the initial question. We look forward to staying connected with all our members during COVID-19 whether it is face to face at local events (when able!) or via online platforms like Zoom. Take care of yourselves and be kind to one another https://www.ruok.org.au/our-story See more

09.01.2022 As the IVF industry in Australasia develops we have seen many changes to the scope and depth of practice. SIRT has a long-standing commitment to increase the profile and professional status of scientists working in the IVF industry as well as promoting high standards within the profession via education and training. To this end, the SIRT committee would like to formalise guidelines for best practice for staffing of IVF labs and professional development of IVF scientists. Call... for volunteers We would like to hear from interested parties working in the field of IVF in Australia and New Zealand to form a SIRT sub-committee to assist in developing these guidelines. We would like to have representation from the full spectrum of clinics large and small, and both full service and low cost; and from scientists at all levels from trainees to Scientific Directors to really capture a good cross section of the industry. Development of SIRT position paper To establish the ideal recommendations for scientific staffing levels based on cycle volume and case complexity with the ultimate aim of promoting high standards for and reducing risk of making errors linked to fatigue etc. To develop guidelines for the training, professional development and certification of IVF scientists with the ultimate aim of promoting increased knowledge and skills, higher staff engagement, job satisfaction and career longevity. Further information Please contact [email protected] to express an interest in joining the sub-committee or contact Jayne Mullen or Kristy Demmers on [email protected] for further information
