16.01.2022 We are disappointed to announce that after close conversations with all parties SciFi Film Festival will be cancelled for 2020. We feel that there are still too many uncertainties to go ahead with this year’s event. I think it is safe to say that 2020 has turned out to be an annus horribiliss for all. COVID-19 has definitely tested us all For me and my family we are about to experience our third passing of a family member/relative. Whilst no one passed away from the virus I... have experienced what it is like to not see my loved one at their last moments. The last 6 months have been horrific for me. We have written to FilmFreeway and all filmmakers will receive a refund on their submission entry. We have assessed opportunities to screen 2020 as an online platform however due to budgetary constraints, this has become unfeasible. We will return in 2021 with a few surprises and stronger than ever.

"I've had three incredible years in a gig that has been so much fun, and I have Festival Director Tom Papas to thank for all of that. He allowed full freedom in the programming role to someone who had no better qualifications than a love of scifi and some experience watching others do it. I totally acknowledge his faith in me... which, to varying degrees (the success of Nekrotronic, Prospect, Miracle Mile (1988), NORMAN - A Joel Guelzo Film; the 'ambitious' programming of Star; the year-to-year growth across all KPIs), I hope I've lived up to." "Tom is forming an amazing team to take the festival onto its next phase and I know all those he'll inspire in the future will see the event grow exponentially." "This year's line-up of films is perhaps the strongest overall program of my tenure.
