08.05.2022 PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS IF YOU HAVE EVER ENJOYED BEING PART OF OR ENJOYED WATCHING LIVE THEATRE !!!!!!! TODAY is 300 DAYS since the last locally acquired case of coronavirus in Tasmania and we’re perplexed as to why Tasmanian theatres aren’t sitting at a similar point of reopening as compared to other states with low or no levels of transmission (Queensland, WA & ACT). These jurisdictions are enjoying 75-100% theatre capacity, with no mandatory face masks. The o...ther states (NSW, VIC & SA) are all at 75-100% capacity, but given their tussles with outbreaks they are wearing face masks for now. However, we believe that will soon be revised, particularly in NSW. Premier Peter Gutwein, what do we have to do to move to this in Tasmania? And why is the health advice in every other state so different to the advice in Tasmania? For a state that has truly come into its own with arts and events this past decade, PLEASE enable us to restart the theatre sector with confidence. We are an optimistic industry, but we are also an industry on its knees still trying to navigate a way forward. And we need your help, PLEASE.
