24.01.2022 TAHINI What’s the difference? Hulled Tahini - Before being ground into a paste the husk or outer shell of the sesame seeds has been removed. This results in a lighter, creamier flavour. Although high in calcium, once the shell is removed the fibre content is slightly reduced. Unhulled Tahini - The outer shell has not been removed before the sesame seeds are ground into a paste. Unhulled tahini has a stronger more bitter flavour and is even higher in calcium and fibre than ...the hulled due to the extra nutritional content from the seed husk. Unhulled tahini is generally darker than the hulled version. Black Tahini - The strongest of the three in terms of colour, nutritional value and flavour. Black tahini has the most bitter flavour, highest calcium and fibre content and is also a great source of iron. The nuttiest tasting of the three, this delicious paste will go a long way as you would generally use a little less than regular tahini. Use black tahini to make salad dressing, noodle dishes, black hummus, tahini cookies and even black tahini flavour ice cream or mochi All our tahinis are certified organic and made in Australia from 100% sesame seeds with no oils, salt or preservatives added. Unless a recipe specifies it, there is no right or wrong choice, it all comes down to personal preference of nutritional content and flavour.
