22.01.2022 The most common question I get from fellow and aspiring freelancers is 'how much should I charge for X?' It can take some 'work' (on yourself and your own money beliefs) plus the commitment to lean into the discomfort, to find the rate that leaves you feeling valued and keeps you employed to the level that you desire. It's also helpful to check in one what the industry is doing and for that, here are some tips from fellow Australian based freelancers. ... https://fashionjournal.com.au//how-do-you-set-your-freela/

21.01.2022 I was fortunate enough to be mentored, during my first 10 years of career development, by someone who embodied this sentiment completely. This particular person walked alongside not just me, but the entire team, encouraging growth, allowing us to push through or clear obstacles, supporting us in our aspirations as young talented team members and making the tough decisions when the time came. I still tell people that I was trained by the best leader I have ever come across, se...veral jobs and career turns later. And the twist? That leader, actually made me redundant. Even through that process, the positive lessons kept coming. Fortunately, I was re-rehired into a new role by the same person a few months later, but it remains one of the cornerstone moments in my life. Last year I created a new offering allowing me to share my knowledge with others, and to walk alongside them in their own freelancing journey and I love it! I wish I had started sooner... and I remain grateful to all the leaders I have had the privilege of knowing. Do you have a leader that left a positive imprint on your life? If not, is there something you can do to be a leader for someone else?

11.01.2022 What will unfold for digital marketing in 2021? Here are 5 predictions (all of which are not new, but predicted to grow in popularity): https://gulfbusiness.com/top-five-digital-marketing-trends/

10.01.2022 Useful redundancy There’s a section in the greeting card store for New Baby cards. I’m not sure what other kinds of babies are available. But the ‘new’ reminds us of why we are sending the card. And Happy Birthday goes without saying as well. The person knows it’s their birthday, and of course you want it to be a happy one, that’s why you sent a card. While a blank on the front of the card would probably have just as much information value, saying it more often than is ne...cessary is precisely the point of the card. Sometimes, we assume that the person we’re engaging with knows exactly what we mean and want to express. But that assumption is often wrong, and a little redundancy can go a long way. 07.01.2022 Q: How have people now working remotely more than ever, impacted me as a freelancer? A: In short, it's blown everything wide open! 2020 was a big year and 2021 is shaping up to repeat a similar growth period, all of which I attribute to big shifts and changes happening across the workforce within Australia in terms of how people work and how they engage support. So from my perspective, my prediction for Freelancing in 2021 is a year of even more growth!... Here is a great article sharing some more freelancing trends for 2021: https://www.forbes.com//freelancing-2021-the-trends-i-se/

04.01.2022 I often get asked why I do Vision Boards over and over again and truth be told, my Vision Boards have changed in style a lot over the past few years. My earlier Vision Boards were extremely prescriptive and very full. Every inch of that board or sheet of paper was filled with imagery or words. No white space remained.... I actually had multiple Vision Boards as often my compulsion to include all the imagery I had found meant it needed multiple boards A3 wasn’t enough. I joined multiple boards or themed them in my attempt to have it make a little more sense. Check out my past vision boards and how I changed them in my latest post here: https://www.sonyaforrest.com/how-to-create-white-space-in-/

03.01.2022 I’m a planner addict from way back! Well if I’m honest, its bigger then just planners. It’s an all-inclusive love fest for anything that combines form and function, and lands in a print format. I love books. I love the design of books. And planners, ultimately are books that we write as the year unfolds.... Each year I try to restrict myself to just buying 1 Planner, and each year I fail at that promise. This year I have reduced my collection of planners to less than 5 and it took some heavy soul reflection, lots of researching AND sooo many deep breaths as I was served up ad after ad by Facebook targeting me with some new and improved planner system. Today I’m sharing my selection of Planners for 2021 and why they made it on my list and if you are curious to know what other planners I have worked with (and even designed) keep reading, I added that information for you too! https://www.sonyaforrest.com/my-favourite-planners-for-2021/
