I went into our game against the Eastern Bulls full of confidence, thinking that I can change the misfortunes that have haunted the Scoresby Scorpions. How wrong was I? Halfway through the third quarter I thought to myself 'f***, I shouldn't have smashed half a dozen drambuie and sprite on draft night'. We couldn't score, my blood brother Mario had been ejected, and I also received a technical foul for goo...d measure. I didn't even care though because my bants were phenomenal. I clearly remember on draft night during the first interval Dale Crotty buying me my 5th drambuie - and unfortunately that was the last thing I remembered and I had the peasant in my team when I woke up on Thursday. Ben was acquired in a massive 3 way trade which was finalised on Wednesday night after the conclusion of round 6. Bryn Fittall has departed for Olinda, while former Bushranger Dale Crotty will now fill the PG spot at the Rockets.... GM Mitch Rose welcomed Ben's arrival, stating "Benny is an ideal fit. He provides size, an intimidation factor and most importantly scoring power. Obviously with Steeny gone in a month we had to look ahead as a franchise and this trade will ensure continued success. Alex Linossier will take on the role of co-GM and assist Mitchell Rose in his duties. Alex was quoted as saying "Shit yeah, I'd be honoured".... 12.01.2022 2nd memoir... "So what, I traded out my best player. It's going to be hard to see Jim Barlow walk out the Scoresby clubrooms, but it's something I had to do. Yes he was the franchise, yes he loves a Vitamin B, yes his banter was phenomenal - but changes were required. I also traded out Dyz and Luke, which wasn't as hard to see go, but still f*cken shattered about Jim. Sport is so cruel sometimes. So we're now the laughing stock of the league, but people love talking about the... Scorpions. The intrigue around this franchise is at an all-time high, and I've actually received multiple requests for people that want to play here. Zach Elms - is worried Hammy's head will wobble off its shoulders each week. Coby Wyatt - is blinded by the Sassafras/Simon Grant orange on orange arrangement. Cory Tuckey - doesn't get a sniff with Swami, and he knows I'm loaded so will cover his team sheet each week. Even Shorty Gianchino hit me up dying for opportunity due to playing 7 minutes last week in the point guard war with Jim Denton. 11.01.2022 COMET ME BRO, SCORPS SKID ENDS AT FOUR The Scoresby 'South Pacific Health Clubs Nunawading' Scorpions' recorded a much needed road win during the Super League's 'Throwback Round' this past Wednesday. In what was an intense arm wrestle early on, many have credited the turning point in the 58-44 victory as the Adam Parker corner triple at the halftime buzzer.... "I knew with 10 seconds to go 4 possessions earlier, there wouldn't be much time left" commented Parker, "I just had to get my feet set and knock it down". And knock it down he did, beginning a dream run by the Scorpions. Jarryd Moss earned a Round 6 Player of the Week nomination posting a delicious 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists with Casey Chan chipping in with 20 points after a slow first quarter. For the Comets it was all Dom Linossier who had a Career high 17 points, including 5 from downtown, but the highlight of the night was his first Career Block. "While I was help side I saw Chan make a post move and I thought to myself... Now's my chance" Linossier gleefully recounts, "He elevated, I elevated, he extended, I extended. It felt like we were in the air for six or seven seconds, then BOOM! Block City! This was truly the greatest moment in Kallista Comet franchise history!" Wednesday's win was an important one for the Scorpions, keeping them afloat in the supreme Super League Western Conference that include some of the leagues best teams. But unfortunately it has got to the point where I need to injure my own for the greater good of the league. Out goes Crotty, in comes Denton. Great trade. Plan B of the trade was to head down to Casey Fields to watch Jim have a run around on a Saturday morning. Yeh I ran the drinks for the boys, I'm good like that. I also laced Jim's water with a muscle relaxant - PING. There goes the old h...ammy Carroll. Jim was tearing up in the changerooms, so I stuck my arm around him and said 'chin up sport'. He was wondering why - was it the brisk conditions? Was it the fifth or sixth effort on the back flank? Was it the diving lunge? No mate - it was Chlorzoxazone I stuck in ya cordial. As for Mario, I've pulled some strings. He won't be leaving Vietnam's passport control for another 13 weeks. Ben Hanley is now a Scorp in a swap for Dale Crotty and I couldn't be happier. Yeh, we're 0-5 and it's been rough. I haven't slept for 34 nights now - the only thing that's kept me going is Kathy's spag bol and a sneaky drambuie at 9:15 sharp every morning. I've got a funny feeling about tonight though - maybe it was the Drambuie batwing off the parachute like scrotum of Rene Jurkschat, or maybe Mum went unders on the oregano, or maybe the Scorpions are ready to dismantle Jake Eccleston and his brittle bones. 03.01.2022 Last Night was the X-Golf Knox Section 8 Super League draft. Roughly an hour before the draft started, GM Nick Aprile had some big news and announced he had signed an assistant GM, we would like to welcome Sean Griffin to the franchise! The Scorps were successful in the draft, securing the reigning MVP, the reigning DPOY Dylan Hare at Pick 2. We had pick 23 and selected the in-shape Lincoln Truman-Anzac Rosa. Jarrod Eccleston was the Scorps next selection in the draft at 30, ...then when we saw Luke Melenhorst was there at Pick 44 he was to hard to go past. At 47 the ex chair-cun Dale Crotty became a Scoresby Scorpion. 67 was a tough pick for Scoresby, we didn't have many options but we chose someone who Nick Spicer can't guard for shit and that was Mario Aprile. Pick 79 was the pick that concluded the strong Scoresby team and GM Nick "The Godfather" Aprile could not say no to Jimmy James Barlow!
