25.01.2022 Space Ex China to Australia Update: Kindly be advised that space from China to Australia is getting tight towards the end of April and Early May due to the following reasons: - The Dense Fog in Shanghai in early April that caused closures of Terminals and disruptions to Port Operations and Ocean Carrier Services.... - Collision of the vessel Beijing Bridge on the weekend of the 14th April. - Cargo Rush before China Holiday - Labor Day 29th April to May 1st - Selected Shipping Lines are loading empty containers as a priority back to Australia which is causing a reduced space allocation for bookings of full container cargo and also selected shipping lines are not accept Out of Gauge (OOG) cargo. If you are expecting any urgent cargo during this time, please contact your Scorpion Representative so that we may ensure your goods sail as needed for your business.

20.01.2022 Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Risk Season 2017-2018 Mandatory Treatment for Containerized goods from Italy The department of Agriculture and Water Resources have advised of New Measures that are required for containerized goods from Italy as per industry advice.... Mandatory treatment of containerized goods from Italy between 17th January and 30th April 2018 will be required and cargo will need to undergo an approved treatment upon arrival onshore. Goods already treated offshore with one of the approved BMSB treatments, and where a valid treatment certificate is presented to the departments, will not require further treatment. Exceptions from treatment apply to goods that fall within one of the excluded tariff groups: fresh produce, including nursery stock and live plants, live animals, food for human consumption and seeds for sowing. These increased measures only apply to goods shipped from Italy, and BMSB measures for goods from the USA or other countries have not been amended at this time. Scorpion International would like to advise all our clients importing from Italy that their goods will be delayed by approximately one week or longer due to the treatments required prior to the cargo being cleared for delivery. Due to the increased demand for the facilities of Quarantine Approved Unpack Depots there is at least a 3-day waiting time from the arrival of a container into the depot prior to fumigation taking place. For further information on the 2017-18 measures, please follow the below link; http://agriculture.gov.au//brown-marmorate/season-measures

03.01.2022 FCL space is getting tighter and rollovers are increasing in frequency due to the carriers cutting capacity, blank sailings and service suspensions mainly resulting from Covid-19. To better allocate resources, we need to reserve space with carriers at least 2 weeks in advance before sailing cut-off. Where possible, please provide booking forecasts of estimated space required 14 days in advance or as early as possible. ... We aim to work together with our clients to optimise our service and highlight our space management capability during this coming peak season amid already trying times.

02.01.2022 Market Update As you are all aware, the declaration of the Coronavirus as a pandemic is creating some unprecedented impacts to the Supply Chain. Whilst this is new and uncharted territory for most of us, we want to reassure our customers that we are taking every measure possible to ensure that we can continue to service your companies needs during this difficult time. ... We are in close contact with our overseas partners and have implemented contingency plans should staff be required to isolate including remote access facilities ensuring staff are still able to work if required to self isolate. Whilst there will undoubtedly be some interruption to the supply chain, we understand the importance of continuing the supply throughout the world for both our clients and our economy. We will continue to work with our clients and overseas partners to find solutions and options for our customers to continue to support your business requirements. Below is an update on the current situation: Airfreight: The airfreight market is being heavily impacted. Compared to March 2019, flights within Asia have dropped by nearly 60 per cent and transpacific capacity has reduced by 50 per cent. Airfreight rates have spiked as a result of the demand and reduced capacity. There are waiting times of up to 2 weeks for flights out of Asia. All countries currently impacted by Co-Vid19 will be affected similarly to Asia with reduced capacities and increased demand for airfreight due to urgent cargo. Seafreight: Currently LCL & FCL freight is stable. There are less sailings than usual with many blank sailings announced by carriers however we are not seeing many issues with securing space if bookings are made in advance. Rates are steady for General Purpose cargo. Out of Gauge container rates have seen some increase in the last few weeks. Italy is under complete lock-down with our Italian partners continuing to work remotely from home. As the situation is still ongoing we are yet to receive an update as to how sailings will be affected. India has announced that all vessels calling India will not be allowed to berth within 14 days of sailing from any international port. Any vessels departing with a transit time of less than 14 days from origin port will not be allowed to berth until the 14 days have lapsed. In China more and more factories are returning to production and space demand is gradually improving for seafreight which should help sailings recover over the next few months. We will continue to provide relevant updates as the situation develops. As always, if you have any questions or want to discuss any of the above please contact your Scorpion representative.
